2015 Fleet Service thread

It's unfortunate how one individual on this thread was drooling over the United contract because he wants his 'cash grab' and I hope he doesn't destroy our negotiations by shilling for all of his boys above who make him feel important but realizes he is just a Pollyanna.

The United contract will prove to be a complete disaster.  Locking in only 28 stations is a joke, especially when non union LAA agents locked in over 80+ and they didn't even have a contract.  Full time security is a disaster as well as the IAM refused to negotiate and only amended their TA2, but the problem was that they didn't have a DOS no layoff cap.  They agreed with management to have full time protections back up to April, 1999.  Toss in the agreement to waive off cargo jobs and to waive off part time caps again.  Never mind trying to reduce health care contributions that can run into the mid hundreds if you have a family.

My concern at American is that such Pollyanna's as the resident one here will push for such a ridiculous deal for us, as United got, just to grab the cash. Presently, we have a combined 40 protected stations and the last update said they would like to push that to 60, or almost 3 times what United has. We have to keep the part time cap and not allow these Pollyanna's to say "Trust management".   We also have to have a DOS full time protection like the CWA does.  And there is no reason why 500 catering jobs should be lost since it already survived the worst of times.

Express work is interesting, but the industry trend is clearly phasing out express jets.

regards,
50 seaters are being phased out, but larger regional jets sure seem to be sticking around. Ideally, scope language would address CRJ700/900's, E70/75/90/95 (if not already covered by m/l scope), C-Series, and so on. Heck, I'd even throw the Dash 8 Q400 into that mix...

The IAM is always negotiating in the past when it sets at the table and never tracking aircraft trends and orders.  Gaining express work in a few hubs while bowing out of mainline work is a disaster.  And it is happening very very fast.  Just today, even after I wrote some things last night,  TheStreet puts out an article how United is phasing down express.  Low oil, pilot shortages just are killing express operators.  And Delta, yes, your company, just put in an order today I guess of 50 CS100's from Bombardair.  American has the 90s.   And I assume Boeing will start making a plane to meet this new need as embrair/bombardair are racking up with the 90-100 seaters.  At Delta, your pilots will fly them the article reads.

At any rate, management always negotiates for the future but our unions beg for things [defined pension, express work] that are either extinct or endangered, at the cost of waiving off mainline scope and job protections.  Nuts I tell ya!

Let me tell you the list of US executives that were on here.

Dave Siegel CEO
Gerry Glass SR VP of Labor Relations
Bruce Ashby,  VP
Chris Chiames  VP
Al Hemeney, VP of Labor Relations.

Fleet has 47 stations protected at UA.
28 under scope. None of which have full time protections unless someone has 17 years. Maybe MIA can get to their new 35 slot limit? LMAO.

A disaster of a contract but big on fluff with the $$$. And that's the story. The good news is that everyone will get a pay raise but the bad news is that many will not be around to see it, and then others will go from $30 x 8 to $30 x 4.

A horrible ammendmanet at a time when they should have stayed at the table like big boys and not settle for a amendment mini contract.

85% passage
15% did not favor

Implication of Mr Nelson is that 85% of UAL members are dumb and stupid I suppose?

Meanwhile Mr Nelson made a video on the subject (sucking back a few brewskies as well) where he was unable to make a recommendation on how others who he does not work with should have voted?

Assumption would have been that Mr Nelson if now so adamant against the deal would have been able to make and explain his personal recommendation of a no vote in that video.

Mr Nelson would you care to share your video if you have not deleted it? Let the readers see the confusion you conveyed in that laughable travesty that I would have to say is your life.

video not withstanding an agreement without pt limits is a recipe for disaster I don't care if it was 100% pass
