You are embarrassing you self along with the rest of the west pilots, the APA is not fond of AWA thanks to Kevin Horner. OJ has a problem distinguishing between his ALPA fantasy world, and the real world. His ALPAWORLD is one of constant dues inflow to fund the banquets and committee meetings. In ALPAWORLD, the leadership will look a pilot with 17 yrs of un furloughed seniority in the eyes and tell him he can take his spot with a new hire. And those with 16 yrs and furloughed? Under the bus! Below all new hires.
And all should bow to the Supreme Nicolau OZ because he is infallible. And righteous.
OJ is pissed because a group of pilots that were given a FLAWED product expected their union to fix the problem, rather than suck up and toss their careers in the toilet.
OJ should have urged Prater to fix the problem, and was too stupid to see ALPA about to get served. And you better listen to OJ, cause he is a badass DELTA pilot!!!!!!'

Let's start with the facts. Since your award there have been four large pilot seniority integrationselta/Northwest: 3 arbitratorsMidwest/Lynx/Republic/Midwest: 1 arbitratorPinnacle/Colgan/Mesaba: 1 arbitratorUnited/Continental: 3 arbitratorsSo your statement that no one uses one arbitrator anymore is just factually wrong.We used three in Delta/Northwest because of the grotesque and immature reaction by the East pilots. Rather than accepting the process they agreed to, like spoiled little brats they lashed out and attacked Nicolau. Since we knew one side or the other was not going to be happy with the award, we used three so they could be angry, but they couldn't use the "senile old coot" argument. That same thought process led us to adopt a three arbitrator panel as the default in ALPA Merger Policy.We didn't use Nicolau because he wasn't available. I think he doesn't want to do those cases anymore. If you are one of the most respected and sought after arbitrators in the world, why would you subject yourself to the degrading treatment that came from the East pilots? He has plenty of work, he has worked on Delta contractual grievances and he is still considered a top, top tier arbitrator. He does not need that work so why take it?There is only one group of people that thinks he is bad and that is the East pilots. All the arbitration lawyers, all the other pilot groups, all the other arbitrators have nothing but the utmost respect for George Nicolau. His writings in previous awards are cited time and time again in follow on arbitrations and his work is highly studied and sought after.Having worked with many arbitrators on many arbitrations, I know for sure that making continued attacks on George Nicolau is a losing strategy for the East. He is considered a giant amongst his peers and your immature character assassinations do not win you any friends there. Given the East's proclivity for always making the wrong decisions, I have the utmost confidence you will continue your childish attacks. Let me know how that works out for you.

You are so FOS. My next door neighbor is a delta pilot and three more of my friends are delta pilots and they ALL say that they used three arbs is because they didn't want a single arb to make the same mistake that Nic did.
And I was speaking of major airlines, not the regionals that can't afford to pay for three arbs.

Nic failed to take into account the value of the east franchise, look where all the money is made, look where all the growth and expansion is. Nic failed to give east pilots credit for longevity, etc, etc, etc

Aw heck yes. That much has been obvious for a long time. Without even considering their spineless "genius" demonstrated by contracting out all things seniority related; why, just their brilliant handiling of all the corporate bankruptcy scams and pension obliterations proved them a mighty farce that wasn't to be trifled with! Seriously; ANYONE who could flash pom poms for alpo at this point in history necessarily ranks among the sadly and most truly delusional of people anywhere.

So you wouldn't stand up against an obscene injustice that placed your junior fellows with even 17 years of continuous service beneath 3 month/new hires? The "I've got MINE, so screw people I've flown with for even decades" thing just doesn't work nearly as well for me. I personally wish we didn't have arbitrators. How many does labor win, maybe 10 percent? I would be more comfortable flipping a coin, at least we would win 50% and save the expense of those fools anyway.

 
Agreed. Anyone on the labor side of the fence that's wholly in love with arbitrators is mentally ill...Period.
