I'm not holding out any hope that the TWU will be replaced any time soon, but, we have a unique opportunity to reject the contract and vote out those responsible. The perfect storm. The international will be working double time, pulling out all the dirty tricks of their trade, to prevent the will of the membership from being exercised. This includes reactivating the "PlayTheOdds" cyborg. Let the games begin!

once again these guys getting moved up to the intenational what does it really mean more pay ,favors etc. or just a title

its not like they got there over the weekend the been there a while? and still working in the local

It's a huge increase in pay. It also means they will be set up in the TWU pension, created with your union dues.
Now, do you think Luis, Zimmerman, and Gilboy will try sell this POS.

Knowing this about Luis, is it necessary to start a poll about how TUL will vote?

Or is it safe to assume my union brothers and sisters in TUL have had enough?

This one is a bit of a surprise considering the rather positive things I've heard about Zimmerman from those who work at DFW. The international gig is also surprising.

Bob O. any insight? Also when did these appointments happen? Recently, or back at the convention?

They were elected at the Convention and as far as I know none of them are staff positions, in other words they are not on the International Payroll, Pension etc. But it could be a step towards one.

The Convention was three months after the June supposal where all three voted in favor of abandoning the table position they claimed they were firm on during the Road Show .

Hey DFW ...You had a president who voted NOT to bring back a contract to the membership (in May of 08)that was essentially beter than this current POS as it kept retire medical intact. Two months later you voted him out of office and put in the current yes man .... you wanted him, well you got him.

If your pointing your finger my way don't bother. I didn't vote for zimmerman and his five word four letter vocabulary.

It's been said that this contract is the internationals and the vote of the membership is just for show. Does anyone have a link or insight of the "without further ratification" lawsuit in question?

I think most of us agree that the Line AMT deserves extra pay and the TWU/AA Partnership has begun the process of seperating the payscales.

What does the Line AMT think is a fair seperation in pay?

Would the Line AMT sacrifice the Overhaul AMT to obtain what is "fair"?

Will we really ever have a strong Union regardless of Constitution when we are pitted against each other?

Truthful responses requested.

Majority I talked with today in TUL would be a NO vote.

A&P's upset that Welders and Machinist are getting more than them in pay increase.

Most agreed the line premium was OK.

The 50/49 age cutoff for change of Retirement Medical is a major concern.

Steve Luis might have made some points with the Welders and Machinist but the A&P base mechanic just turned on him.

There are some who only compare this to the earlier company proposal as a gain but most are not fooled.

The TWU remains on the property due to the NMB decision that denied us a vote not because folks in TUL like the TWU.

This will be rejected unless Steve Luis plays the FEAR card and tells everyone a STRIKE is the next step if rejected or the International accepts regardless of ratification outcome.

Once rejected the demographics of those rejecting will allow for the deal to be sweetened and a quick second vote to take place.

TUL Nominations for Election is this month and elections will take place in JUNE/JULY

I talked with 6 people today that are currently 49 and will be 50 by the end of the year that are mad as hell about the prefunding changes.

This will have to be modified to ever be ratified. So just consider it a starting point not a done deal.
I agree prefunding is a major issue but how many people are going to able to retire before 65 at these wages. The increase in OSM to 20% of title 1 and putting them on the hanger floor really shows the company's hand of where they want to go in future contracts. Remember the numbers always increase. Lower paid classification doing the same work that will never become a mechanic. That means fewer and fewer AMT's over the years. Look what has happened since 95.

PM me with your email addy and I'll ship you a copy of the procedings I asked for and got from Bob Owens - the same goes for anyone else interested in seeing how the TWU spends members' money in order to hose them - PM me and I'll be happy to send you a copy.

The PDF file is 1.6 meg (1.599k bytes - overlimit for this site's attachments) or it'd be here already.
