Why I Voted Yes

Cirri must be better than I thought.
He used the line mechanics to scare the self proclaimed great man of conviction and he retreats with great speed.
Impressive, I have to go watch one of these company paid shows the union leader is putting on.

Just have no interest in taking more risks, I can live with 15% after all it is the same the Pilots got offered so their not going to offer us more than that, this contract will allow me to leave before it becomes amendable & I can get the hell out of this Industry, all this BS Union crap & enjoy my life at 56 without the constant turmoil & stress.
30 years of dealing with this crap is more than enough.

Hey if you want to take the risk then by all means vote No, I voted No on the last one so I have no problem with you voting No, it's a huge risk for many reasons, If your in overhaul if your smart you will make plans to leave in the next 6 years because if you don't like this contract you definitely won't like the one after the line out numbers you.

What risk are you taking and how is this NO vote any riskier than the last one? If anything the company threw a few more crumbs this time, remember what they said last time, if we voted NO on that offer there would be no raises, no early out and no profit sharing, well we voted no and they are all still in there.

Are you aware that contracts signed in BK are not really binding? They can have the creditors reject it and come back for more, thats what happened at UAL. The mechanics had secured an agreement around two weeks prior to us giving away the store in 2003 but then it was rejected by the court.

Do you really think that between rejection and the next Last Best and Final Offer that there would be a mass layoff in Tulsa? The company admits it will take 18 months to clsoe AFW. We will be out of BK way before then. Remember that AA went into this with more money than anyone ever has. The major players on the UCC have an interest in seeing AA get out of BK and them getting a lot of stock.

It's ok to admit that Cirri scared the living crap out of you.
We can all see it anyway. You may as well be honest.

Do the math, its only 15% on your base, so it comes out to around 12% over a ten year period, it wont even cover your increased out of pocket for medical. You are also losing you Retiree medical, your pension, OT rules, Field Trip rules and more.

Voting yes will harm you while you wait to get out
in five years!

Berating people who are WILLINGLY harming
my craft is why you are voting yes?

Tell me one good thing out of this pig with lipstick.
Tell me how this pig with lipstick will protect my craft.
Tell me why taking the easy way out is the best
choice to take.

You can change your vote once you realize that
what I am saying is the truth. You'll be here five
more years? Then fight for those five years! I know
you can.

No Berating is not why I voted yes but it is one of many reason to get the hell out of this industry, I don't like being in a Union & having my future in the hands of people I don't trust anymore than I trust the company, we cannot save this industry Ken it is going away, If you choose to stay & fight to the bitter end that is your choice, maybe you don't have other options or you really love Aviation I don't know what your situation is, after 28 years of being in Aviation it is just a job for me now, I don't love it anymore & before I can actually leave I will have 33 years in it, I have a pilots license etc. & use to love Aviation but not anymore now I just want out, if you want to fight to the end then good luck with that.

No he didn't scare me but he does have a point, really the bottom line is this contract is all I need to be able to leave in 5 or 6 years, I don't need anymore so there is no reason for me to take the risk, If the risk didn't work out then I would be stuck here for longer than 5 or 6 years & I'm not willing to risk that, I need to get away from all of this once & for all & leave it with the ones who want to stay till the end & I intend to do just that.
there are no guarantee's but I think a 6 year contract is the safest way to getting out in one piece. B)

What makes you think you'll make it past year ...say 2.

You just voted away your protection.

Bob you had your chance to keep that stuff for us we voted No twice, the work rules, Pension, retiree medical are all gone & their not coming back all that's left is pay, vacation & holidays, we are getting the same pay raise as the pilots are getting on their TA that's a miracle right there, I don't think we will get offered more than the pilots did, they might turn theirs down but I think they will accept theirs too in order to keep their pension.
It's a crap sandwich but we are in bankruptcy with no right to strike or do anything but beg, I just want out.

I am currently in overhaul but soon to be unemployed no matter which way this vote goes. I could care less about who out numbers who, we are both being screwed. If you are voting yes to protect yourself, you are not a union guy and you are only out for yourself. Besides two of the negotiators representing AFW and DWH voted against the contract. So the issue with you is not overhaul, but Tulsa. As long as Tulsa is the majority-you are happy.

It's all a gamble Man, all you can do it make your best guess & hope you guessed right, I would rather make my guess & be wrong & suffer the consequences than let someone else guess for me & they were wrong & I suffer the consequences at least that way I did it to myself instead of letting someone else do it to me.
Letting someone else make your decisions for you is a really bad idea.

If this goes through, you will be correct there will be suffering.

Didnt you just say on another thread that you were voting YES because you thought a NO vote was too risky?? What makes you think that the YES vote is safer? As was pointed out you just voted away system protection and allowed the company to layoff till they get to 35% of the maintenance Spend.

I'm not a Union Man haven't you been reading my post's ? I can't stand Unions or putting my career in the hands of people I don't trust, that means you & the rest of my coworkers & of course I'm looking out for myself if your a humanitarian then good luck with that, i'm a hermit & can't wait to have a whole lot of alone time when I retire away from people & Unions & hostile Executives that want to crush me every chance they get so they can get rich, you can have ALL that crap.
I'm Parachuting out of this tailspin Industry.
