US Employee Murdered in Charlotte

Words on a bulletin board can not describe this but we gave Joe the proper send off tonight on Flt 1799 Clt-Msy. There must have been close to a hundred of us plane side tonight from 1930 till push back. We lined up as the casket was loaded. Then when push back came we made a line or two & held hands & walked back with the plane. Then comes the best part of all. As the plane taxied to 18R there were two fire trucks on either side with the water cannons that completely covered the plane. This was truly a proper final flight. Thank you US for setting up the water cannons.

We love you & miss you Joe. R.I.P.

Harry,

Thanks for you and your coworkers to give Joe a proper and respectful sendoff.

Its good to know that good people still exist.

Must have been a very emotional and moving experience.

Thanks for sharing that with us, Harry. It really sounds like it was a lovely tribute. Kudos to US for stepping up to give this employee a proper sendoff to his final resting place.

When an active employee passes I really think a phone call from one of the senior execs to the family is appropriate and a gracious gesture. It doesn't have to be elabotate just a call saying "I'm very sorry for your loss, we'll miss him/her too here at US Airways"

Humanity is to often lacking in all we do and but for the Grace of God it could have been anyone of us who post.

You don't really think that happens, do you?

AFAIK, employee deaths are no longer listed automatically on the "in Memoriam" page on the hub. His/her manager has to request it from Corp Comm. Something that can and does get overlooked.

A jetBlue employee passed awayrecently in a Northeastern city. The company
- arranged for employees from other cities to fly to cover shifts so his co-workers could attend the services,
- secured high priority passes on Qantas for his in-laws who live in Australia.
