TWU walks away

Anyone in 2006 that supports a union, deserves the tooling they get.

Have fun paying dues to the goons.

Your remarks are pure ignorance. Without the union we would have no vacation, 401k, heavy maintenance, guarenteed hourly rate, and on and on. You think the company will take care of us, WRONG  !!

Apparently you are not a FSA at US, if you were you would know we already have less vacations, 20% to 35% less hr wages, no sick pay, up to 75% less retirement contributions, no double time, less swaps, less every thing with iam representation than we had non-union. O yeah Fleet service has almost HALF (1/2) as many jobs left after 12 years being misrepresented by the iam.

Remember the enemy is the company, band together to get the best transition agreement and stop the outsourcing as much as possible.

For heaven's sake 700UW that militant approach is probably why some of the unions are in the predicament they are in. Had you left the "the enemy is the company" out I'd be with you. I'm all for higher wages a good tranisition agreement and stop outsourcing meat and potatos. Did you listen to the earnings presentation this afternoon. I was there. Scott Kirby and DP said how happy they were with the work being done inhouse that more work is coming inhouse from Mobile! Voluntarily WITHOUT influence from the IAM. Your mentality is destructive. Listen to the Webcast. This is the new U.

No, but I am at Usairways and have come to realize a union can not beat a bankruptcy judge. The union didnt take all my stuff away, the company and my YES voting coworkers did! And I tested the waters outside the company and Im glad I stayed.

Barbee, Barbee, Barbee.

No such thing has happened, there will be no changes, your TWU CBA is still in effect.

The IAM with the help of the TWU members will negotiate a Transition Agreement and the small cities will not be sacrificed.
Not yet, but sooner or later they will suffer the same fate as the East stations did. 😱
Unless you can tell us that there will be some agreement made to put and end to outsourcing of Fleet work.

The company is the enemy, the company attacked the US/East workers in court and forced concessions upon them, all this while the executives were getting rewarded for failure.
Get over it 700. That was the old U. It no longer exists. start being proactive instead of combative. Like the old saying goes "If you have nothing good to say do not say anything at all"

IMO the way to do this is by relying on an increased role in profit sharing at all levels of a company. From DP on down to the ramp.

BINGO, we have a winner! I asked this question of Doug this afternoon when the questioning session began and he agreed that Profit sharing needs to be company wide and it will happen company wide next time.

but a judge ruled in favor of the Flight Attendants at Comair. and yet they are ch11 due to delta being ch11

TWU WITHDRAWS REPRESENTATION APPLICATION FOR FLEET SERVICE WORKERS

May 9, 2006

The company was notified today by the National Mediation Board (NMB) that the TWU has withdrawn its application for representation of about 8,000 Fleet Service workers at the merged US Airways. The NMB has therefore canceled the Fleet Service representation election and indicated that a "determination addressing the representation issues in this case will follow shortly." While any decision on representation is up to the NMB, our understanding of NMB procedures is that, in cases like this, the Board will extinguish the certification of the union withdrawing its application (the TWU), and extend the certification of the remaining union (IAM) to be the representative of all Fleet Service employees at the merged carrier. The TWU represents pre-merger America West fleet service employees; the IAM represents pre-merger US Airways employees.
SAD Day For 8000, FS Worker's,Many Stations soon to be Out Sourced ETC: & Good Day for the Continental TWU people. Sorry People, I wish you the Best of Court room time's. MWW

Workers lose again. So much for the truthfulness of the TWU Officials who maintained there would be an election.
I guess they already possess the same characteristics of iam officials.
The cards were only used to secure jobs apparently. No wonder unions keep losing members.  The twu as well as the iam cannot be trusted.

They tried and the International spoke for them...A deal was made and it's time to look elsewhere. Is there any Teamster reps that read this please make contact with the the Fleet Service group and you will find your votes for a positive change.

Hey Brutallyhonest, Is there interest in a real UNION like the Teamsters? The AFL-CIO could care less about the members. So I feel it's time for change. Maybe if we had a UNION that cared about the vested and loyal EMPLOYEE's that this company still has you wouldn't have to test the water outside? Today we posted a 5 mil profet, so if this company cares and we can work together maybe we need a UNION that SPEAKS FOR US!

As much as I hate to say it, the folks on the West Side are just SCREWED period. It may not happen right away, but it will be lurking just around the corner. There is a reason the company wanted to see the IAM CBT remain, and you will all know why at some point. As boasted by the IAM you will get a raise, and you will be part of their
"Industry leading" pension plan, but it won't be for very long. A raise and a pension plan are only good IF you still have a job, which most in the outstations won't. Sadly I know this all too well, as I lost my job thanks to Outsourcing. We got a raise, but it was only for a few months before our jobs were gone. The IAM reps that came to our station told us that at least we got a raise before we lost out jobs, and that would boost out severnce and unemployemnt rates....Gee thanks, I could have done without that, and kept my job at the current payscale.
Severence and unemployment don't last as long as a career would have. If you are in any of the smaller stations out west, start making plans now. The day my Union Brothers & Sisters voted for the current CBA, I started looking for another job, and it was good that I found one before losing mine at the Airline. 🙁

On an "upbeat" note, there are plenty of positions to transfer into in PHX. That is an option if one wishes to pursue it. It's a shame that field station employees will lose their jobs as Wolf, Siegel, Lakefield et al couldn't run an airline and the IAM membership and leaders could not find it in their capacity to do the right thing.

Do you not understand there will be a transition agreement negotiated?

What I want to know was what kind of back room deal was made for TWU to throw their members potentially under the bus?

Was part of the deal TWU not pursuing the "Thug 22" & the IAM in court?

You threw the outstations right under the bus, preserved the IAM power base in Thugadelphia and now you're poised through some back room shenanigans to do it to the folks over at TWU.
They took a page from the IBT playbook and made them an offer they couldn't refuse??
