Absolutely!

I little background on the changing perception of unions and why they are not trusted.
This goes back to the pre-Reagon years and was exacerbated by the non support by unions of the air traffic controllers strike.

When unions do not support unions then this is what we have now.

I really don't know why AMFA is always brought up here as it is pretty much a dead issue, but I will call out the BS lies and deceptions that are perpetuated by ignorant/arrogant/deceitful people.

The iam/twu/ibt has such a deep hatred of AMFA that they are willing to compromise the tenants of unionism just to see them fail.

AMFA is not for everyone. When AMFA was voted in at UA I went around trying to sign up people for a Representative position (Shop Steward). Most responses were 'will we finally get a shop steward?' Yes, they were thinking that AMFA would assign outside people to be stewards. I was amazed.

Good Luck to you Kev!
You have a hard row to hoe!

I was a steward in PIT during an AMFA run and decided to go listen to what they were offering at one of their info sessions.

They had the usual sales pitch back and forth, and then took questions.

One Mech asked the AMFA guy:

"What is AMFA going to do for us"

The man replied:

" We aren't going to do anything, you are going to do it for yourselves."

Right then and there it was obvious that AMFA  would never work on that property.

More often than not, it was all we could do to get a quorum for business for afternoon meetings or get people in an area to become stewards.

Would you rather have heard "we will give you free popcorn & sodas at all meetings, a new t-shirt once a year, and
we will decide what is best for you". I guess the AMFA rep was as disgusted with the question as I would have been,
if your not willing to open your eyes and see what giant industrial unions have become, why bother giving a proper answer?
It is sad so many of our members have the same mentality as the welfare lifers,  give me ...give me ...give me!

That was the proper answer for all involved.

Thank you TWU and IAM for dragging this out. More bad news predicted for AA coming soon. We are still working under a BK contract. If the IAM bowed out and the association was never here we would be in the same position as the pilots and flight attendants.

Yea you would have been locked in at at least 14% under before Delta raised the rates praying that Mr Parker was benevolent enough to offer more to keep you above them with no guarantees.

"Please Mr Parker, oh pretty please. Can we get that raise too? We deserve it. Oh boo boo"

Don't you have a Samsonite bag to go throw around in the cargo hold? I guess your happy that we are where we are at this point in negotiations while oil prices are rising and AA's cost will rise as well. Stick with fleet and I'll stick with aircraft maintenance issues. Same union but different issues.

I am guessing you lost that election for whatever position you were running for.

If you did, you make it very clear the reasons why with your attitude and posts on this forum.
