TWU ask for release

You think a 6 year pay freeze after a 6 year contract with a 40% paycut is reasonable? Are your wages today less than they were 12 years ago?

No, but millions of workers and retirees across the US haven't seen pay increases in the last 18-24 months.

Thousands of companies determine their annual wage increases off of CPI, as does Social Security. It's been flat two years in a row now.

That said, maybe your union should be asking for annual increases to be tied to CPI.... Some years you would have done quite well:

I know the fact that all those other people haven't seen a raise in three years doesn't change the fact you took paycuts, but I think you need to be a little more careful about throwing the 40% number around, Bob. If so many of you could survive a 40% wage cut (regardless of spouses having to go back to work or you taking on a second job), some people will probably start to figure out that airline salaries must have been pretty darn good prior to 2001....

More lame excuses.

How much money does it take to post the information on a website or send it by email?

There is lot's of information on the APFA website, if you filled out the survey and read the results you would know pretty much what is being asked for. Am I to assume you are an APFA member, or no. If you are call your base cahir an talk to them directly and they will tell you what's going on, no excusess!!!!!!!!!!! Your chair will talk with you, if don't call back maybe theres a reson or your not a member of APFA. By teh way TWU/APA know what's going on with APFA nego.

By the way read yor info rep/APFA emails..you do get those-right,

The point is we arent surviving, we are sinking into debt, I cut back as much as I could, worked a second job in between double shifts (17 hours from punch in to punch out) and still sunk $70,000 into debt by borrowing off the equity in my home and 401K to make ends meet. I could do that because I knew eventually my wife would be able to help me pay it off, others arent as fortunate. Even the FAA's Human Factors Department is concerned because they know that mechanics are burning the candle at both ends and its only a matter of time before a lot of people die because of it. They are considering tightening up the duty-time requirements but as I told the FAA you may prevent someone from working two full time jobs as an A&P but you cant do anything about a full time job outside this industry and them coming to work just as tired as if they worked a double on the airport every day. We dont want to do this, we have to. He admitted they really cant address fatigue without addressing the wages. Despite the companys cackdown on sleeping we still had a guy fired last year and a manager fired last week, yes, even many of our managers work two full time jobs. I'm sticking with the 40% figure, maybe you should think about that as you board your next flight, the fact that the guy who worked on your plane last night may be the same guy who was putting in a new Kitchen in your house, driving an oil truck, or fixing your car during the day. As you were sleeping he was exhausted looking at your airplane, what did he miss? Will you be the first to die because of mechanic fatigue? Will you still think that a cheap ticket is worth it as you are on your way to becoming a smoking hole in the ground? Have a nice flight!

We havent seen a pay raise in close to eight years. I am not counting the three percent over three years because its to miniscule to even mention. So tell the millions across the US to join the club. 18 - 24 months thats a cake walk

He mustn't have look at our update either. Since 1984 our "raises" have lagged inflation for 24 out of the last 26 years.

No, I am not a flight attendant and I do not belong to the APFA.

I was simply responding to your earlier message that the union did not have money to get information out to the membership. That is not a valid excuse.

I have spoken with my Base chair about getting something out to the membership, and there is a mailing on it's way, ApFA was waiting until the last talks and next course of action was discussed with the BOD. We only have so much money.

The deal offers a 5 percent raise right away, followed by annual increases of 3 percent, 3 percent and 4 percent, as well as other pay add-ons.

I'd settle for that, in addition to Arpey's head on a platter.

we've made steady progress at the table through mediation and think there is still opportunity to collaborate and resolve the remaining open issues," said American spokeswoman Missy Latham.

Time's up Missy!!

Uh, I used to work for the Texas Employment Commission (now called, the Texas Workforce Commission). It is not the same in every state or even in the same city. Each case is decided on its own merits. If you say you are on strike, no you can not collect, but I know for a fact that in the past those who said their union was on strike and they feared for their safety if they crossed the picket line were allowed to collect.

In your state and your city it may be different, but that doesn't mean that what is true in your case is true in every case.
I am in Texas and fought NWA for my unemployment benefits. NWA had collected our badges and escorted us off the property prior to the strike. They also said during our hearing that we did have jobs available to us...in DTW or MSP. They said our jobs in Texas were gone. They even said that they had planned on closing all stations other than MSP and DTW. Not a short commute from IAH for an AMT who works regular workweeks. NWA fought all 12 of us who actually took the time to fight them. The chief legal counsel himself attended the telecon hearing.

Texas denied benefits to all of us.

So does anybody know if AA management took there bonus or is gonna take it ???

Of course they will take them. Would you expect anything less from our greedy mAAnagement? They get them on April 17th or 19th. I can't remember what the exact day is, but its one of those.

It took seven pages (rather than six degrees of separation) but eventually this one went to management bonuses/salary.
