TWU and IAM representation alliance vote

Per today's Gary Yingst letter, it's the union.
"We also have a joint agreement on pensions. The IAM has a National Pension Fund (IAMNPF). The IAM and TWU will propose to allow current TWU members into the IAMN0F. They further agree to make this a high priority when we harmonize our current agreements. "
Anybody know of an advantage for us by doing this?

The operative word is "propose" meaning negotiate with the company to allow that to be an option if people are interested?

Heard the company wants to take our frozen aa pensions and turn them over to the IAM once the alliance is finalized. Just hearsay but it would not surprise me.

Oh ok. And I'm sure that the IAMPF would want to take on the responsibility of making up for the current underfunding not to mention what Mr Josh Gotbaum would have to say about that idea?

Let's see what this costs us. What do we have to lose to get it?

You're still giving up $2/hr, so yes it is your own funds. If you work OT then the $2 gets diluted, because they only pay in $2/hr for 2080 hours/year - but it's still money that could have been going to you, rather than negotiated into the IAMNPF.

I guess we all should write a protest letter to the NMB stating we did not vote in the IAM/TWU Alliance to represent us as a union and their for it has no right as an organization to request a ‘single transportation system’ and embark in negations. If someone can make up a template letter with all the legalese it would be appreciated.

Well, there has to be a single transportation system declared in order to have the election for the Alliance.

At best the IAMPF "MAY" be offered as an option "IF" of course the company agrees within a JCBA. If they do it's going to be a choice of either participating in the pension plan or for us continuing on with a matching 401?

I very much doubt that both options will be offered to members in the future.

AMFA is sunk now with the filing. Gotta get more cards from US IAM people. The same ones that wrote 8 write ins for AMFA in the IBT raid.

Oh wait a minute.  Not so, sir.  IF--A big IF here, it is as some have posted and the NMB ends up running the election, there will be an option to write in AMFA.  Never say Never my friend...

NO.  Like weAAsles said above "proposed"  Nothing is guarrenteed, NOTHING.  They will promise you guys anything to get you all to vote for this alliance, period...
