That is an arrogant statement. Customer SERVICE belongs to everyone that works for the airline. As a CUSTOMER, a CHAIRMAN'S PREFERRED on USAIRWAYS, it's not just the F/A's that I have contact with. It's also the Gate Agents, Ticket Agents, Club Representatives......all of the CSA employees. And occassionally a pilot. So to say that "The Flight Attendant is a rock upon which the customers foundation sits" is so totally wrong.

Maybe you should rewrite your posting and use paragraphs. It would make the flow of your thoughts more concise.

Mr. Gardner sounds like someone who should not be taken very seriously here because he clearly doesn't know of what he speaks.

As a frequent passenger (GP) and someone who works closely with the industry, I can tell you that the primary reason that UAIR is still in business today is the superior job done by most of its frontline employees - in the air and on the ground (After all, it ain't the food!). I don't write this to disparage the job done by those at HP in any way, because as someone based in the east, I don't fly HP and simply don't know how good they are, but I can testify first-hand to the numerous times that I've seen UAIR employees go way above and beyond for their passengers. This is despite the hardships they have endured in recent years, more than any other carrier in the industry.

To the folks at UAIR, keep up the great work. To Mr. Gardner, take some time to find out the facts before you write such a negative post. When you start working together, keep an open mind...you might find you'll like your new co-workers and might even learn a thing or two from some of them.

You would be thrilled if you were lucky enough to have Matt as an FA on your flight.

Thank you. It's time to move forward and let go of our difference. If we really want this airline to succeed. We have to let go our egos and just start out fresh. Stop bringing up the past, the resentments and stop worrying about the future.
In order for our new airline to succeed, we have to be impeccable with our words, our actions and our attitudes.

No reason for you to smell it. You are free to go work somewhere where they don't value the importance of teamwork.

I hear Northwest is hiring cleaners!

Matthew,

I have to tell you that I have met many flight attendants ground crew and VP's at AWA and I have been nothing but pleased as I am sure they were with me. I have worked for two different airlines and both on the east coast. I have to say that some of my friends flew AWA to vegas and when they came back they applied for the US DIVIDEND MILES card. I can't say why they did it but i can say that the trip on what they all call "AMERICA WORST" wasn't good. I told them to stop with the name calling because people call us "US SCAREWAYS" .
None the less the trip wasn't good, and for you to say that people are flocking to AWA is absurd. No one in Chicago that has to have expansivew travel agendas will go to AWA. SCENARIO: what if someone needs to go to VENICE or Tokyo or just NEW YORK, they assuradly will not go down to phoenix to go back up to new york when they have United and American to choose from. Let me ask you this too, lets say you were merging with a very junior carrier and a 1 year flight attendant was going to be slotted in with ten years, right below you lets say, I can assure you that is not fair, we all work for TIME as in YEARS... That is how we are paid how we are given our trips and vacation etc.
You stay do your time and it will pan out, the fair way. Another thing. If there is slotting then there will be no need for fences right? Since everyones seniority will be more than fair- Be very careful what you wish for or you could be based in D.C. N.Y. or Boston paying over a thousand a month for a closet to sleep in... Then we'll see who is the most fabulous flight attendant. Just one more thing; it is NOT smart to put your name on here b/c now everyone knows you and doesn't have to be nice to you remember. I hope that you don't represent all AWA flight attendants because it shows your coffee, tea, or me demeanor!!!!

regards!!

OH shut up JJ ! Go back to "American Airlines" board. The only thing that you smell is the "scent of Fear" since a new low fare airline is coming to kick your sorry ass! By the way, HP is getting bigger in DFW. Not only is SW is going to be a threat to you, but the new low fare carrier too. So B.S. that !

Actually I think JJ was empathizing with the upcoming struggles...As a former twa'er He/She, is (I think) probably not a fan of AA.
I have the hope that your workforces can merge with the utmost benefit and respect for both parties.

Hi everyone, I am new to this board. I am a former Eastern Airlines employee. To say that I know what you US Airways employees are going thru is a little bit of an understatement.

I am happy at America West Airlines as a flight attendant. We have a great group of employees. The flight attendants are some of the best, for the most part. Our passengers for the most part like our service and we work hard to ensure that they keep coming back. I am proud to be a flight attendant for America West Airlines. We have done something no other airline since deregulation has done: become a major airline. We love our company "culture", logo, livery, and our name. I am sad to see it go.

Years ago, I used to fly regularly on the old Piedmont Airlines when I was a Navy wife. The service was great and employees friendly.

As US Airways intergrated other airline companies within the fold, did you lose that sense of great service and friendly attitude? I know you have been through a tremendous struggle with your management and have lost a lot of rounds with them just trying to survive. I empathize with you. But you past management was really poor and did all of you a disservice. Be mad at them, not America West employees.

America West employees have had no say in this merger, like you have really not had much say in what has been going on in your company. However, we are willing to welcome you and work with you. But there are some attitudes that won't work. One of them is your sense of superority just because you have been around longer than America West. It seems to me that without the new monies that Doug Parker and the sucess of America West Airlines have attracted, we would not even be having this discussion because more than likely, US Airways-as it is now-would cease to exist, just like Easten Airlines. Where would your DOH and senority be then? It would be useless to you. Granted, the airline industry as a whole is in perilious shape and the cost of fuel goes up everyday. NONE of us can be totally secure at this point in time that we will have jobs down the line.

But with the merger of the two airlines, we ALL have a better chance of continuing to work and be productive and have good lives. America West employees want that just as well as you do. This will be a totally NEW AIRLINE, with NEW management styles, and NEW methods of doing things. Why not embrace the idea of intergrating our two workforces with something NEW? OLD is not always best for everyone. Just because it has always been that way does not mean it is the best way.

Just a few thoughts from a S.C. born and raised girl way out here in the desert. I hope that you US Airways folk will see that we are trying to be welcoming to you and that we would like to feel welcomed by you. There are some of you that have said some very harsh statements that are very unwelcoming. Hope they are few and far between.

Seems to me you are looking at the chance of some seniority coming back to you from your days at eastern, well we all know that it is not AWA monies coming to the table b/c they have none just like US. It is the investors and US looks good with a west coast partner and thats what looks good to investors. We welcome you to at USAIRWAYS!!!

Actually GOODGIRL, no I am not looking to get some seniority from Eastern Days. I know that was THEN, and this is NOW. Maybe that is what YOU should realize too: that when the NEW US AIRWAYS becomes a reality, then your days at the OLD US AIRWAYS was THEN and this is NOW.

Yes, it IS the investors that are bringing in the new monies, which we both need. However, I really doubt these new investors were seriously looking at a bankrupt airline to invest in. You have been in bankruptcy twice in -how many years now-um 4 years. You have had really sorry management that has bailed on you and left you to make all the sacrifices. I do recognize all your hard work and years served. However that is in the OLD company, just like my time at EASTERN.

And thanks for the WARM welcome. Would someone bring me a sweater, it's really chilly in here!

You are so welcome!! However in the by-laws it staets DOH between two companies merging that is what this is all about. And as a matter of fact without USAirways you would be rolling into bankruptcy this month along with DL and maybe Northwest., It's not all peechy keen with a glass of sweet tea!!! However my point is fair is fair and that is the way it is - we want to get along with new people and make a great new USAIRWAYS but don't look at it like you saved us because there is no such thing. They would look at us because we are a factor in many ways internationally and we are a big partner in the star alliance which you dont have and we cover very profitable routes on the east coast. From one SC girl to the other, good luck!
