Guess you have no clue on how it works, the IAM has only been negotiating for two years, not five.
Get a clue.
You got screwed ! That's laughable. Initially there were more than 100,000 or more people laid off after 9/11 and never got back to work. There have been at least 14 mergers since 2001 and the airline workforce shrinks further by more thousands. But "You" got screwed by an outside force that not even Nostradamus could have predicted. Once again "YOU" got screwed !Ok I believe you about The Teamsters lies and corruption. I just dont think The IAM or TWU is trustworthy neither. I have gotten screwed by the IAM many times at TWA and US. I have gotten screwed by TWU at AA but I cantell you this I have never gotten screwed by Teamsters at America West. This is my experience over the last 22 years. Thats what im going with
NO initiation fee IBT waved it for all.Is it True that if the Teamsters win out there will be a initiation fee of $850 for New Members and Union dues will go up to $125.00 per month? Former PSA AWA employees will be grandfathered with honorary withdrawal cards.
NO initiation fee IBT waved it for all.
Q: Will my union dues go up as a Teamster?
A: The union dues are figured on 2.5 times your hourly rate minus license premium, not 2.5 times the “all-in rate” that the IAM has rumored. The rate was voted on and increased from 2 times the hourly rate by the union members in a general convention, not by the International. The members voted to increase the strike fund reserves to allow for more money in support of striking members and raise the level of organizing.
Last time I checked this is about the iam and the ibt at US Airways, not UA or any other carrier. The IAM is a company union, they let management do as they please. DL 141 will go along with UA outsourcing the stations they want. Sure they say they are meeting with UA to discuss their plans but the IAM always gives into the company.
UA preferred the IAM to AFA for the F/As, since they give the company exactly what they want. IAM has higher base rates but the AFA contract has better protections and work rules.
Josh
Thanks for sharing your past experiences with each union. Now I can wrap my head around what you are saying a lot better, and, I now fully understand why you are in support of the teamsters. I guess we just had a very, very miserable experience with the teamsters here. Just fair warning; if you guys are successful bringing in the teamsters you do need to stay on top of them and involved. I will also tell you I have not had any personal experience with the IAM, but this is the only union I have not had any interactions with.Ok I believe you about The Teamsters lies and corruption. I just dont think The IAM or TWU is trustworthy neither. I have gotten screwed by the IAM many times at TWA and US. I believe your correct about the second vote after merger. However, I see a different ending than what you indicate in your post above. By the time comes for the second vote, and lets say the teamsters are in at US, then the US membership will see that the teamsters never were able to follow thru with all those promises and guarantees, and now the US membership might be leaning more towards an AMFA write-in option as will the AA membership. You may end up with a run-off election with AMFA getting on the ballot and quite possibly coming in and swooping the entire membership from both the airlines after merger. Not saying this is going to happened, but I do it as a possibility, just a thought...Just remember 1 thing Mr. 1 AA after we vote the Teamsters in at US we will have another election at both companies to see which union stays and Im sure the Teamsters will have more than enough Teamster cards signed...Have a Nice IBT day
This entire statement is wrong, false, lies. The rate with the teamsters are all inclusive, it will include premiums, longevity, shift diffs etc... Also, the "membership" DID NOT, I repeat, DID NOT vote on the increase in dues from 2.0 to 2.5X's all inclusive. We were teamsters when this happened, and this was the final nail in the coffin for the teamsters being fired in a record 2 week card drive at SWA. The vote was on the increase was done by international level officers along with other upper officers from several locals at one of their quarterly or yearly meetings, NOT by the membership as you have posted above--flat out lie. Even when the teamsters came back from said meeting and someone "finally" told us our dues were going up to 2.5X's without the memberships vote, Hoffa was warned "personally" if they increase the dues we will fire the teamsters and remove them from the property. He blew us off as that isn't going to happened, and now you see the results. With the teamsters it is not just the base hourly rate, it includes other premiums and pay. And the membership NEVER voted for the increase in dues as you have posted above. You guys at US don't fall for the BS the teamsters will put out there just to get you guys to bring them in.NO initiation fee IBT waved it for all.

Watch and learn, it very well could happened. And BTW: if teamsters were to make it in at US you won't have to worry about the association at US as far as the mechanics are concerned. Never say never...The vote after the merger is not voting for the IAM or the TWU, its for the alliance between the two unions.
AMFA isnt even a thought at US, so you might as well drop it, since you mention it in every post.
So as a fine upstanding AMFA organizer as yourself .YOU SAY you went and did all this and was told???????That is a outright LIE. I spoke to UAL guys and attended a Teamsters roadshow meeting last year. We where told and shown their constitution where it says ALL inclusive and the UAL/CAL guys are paying ALL INCLUSIVE. You must be a paid IBT organizer. More lies from the IBT. Keep it up. We at AA already uncovered all the lies of the IBT. If a vote comes our way the AMFA WRITE IN campaign will kick off. But I doubt a vote will happen. Keep spreading your bull, I need a good laugh.
