Teamsters filed at USAir for representation

FLEET HAS NO VOTE AT THIS TIME, ONLY MX HAS CALLED FOR A VOTE FOR A NEW UNION AT US AND AA.
FLEET AT THIS TIME IS AT THE MERCY OF THE ASSOCIATION IF VOTED IN.

So what is the timeline for "single carrier status"? Kinda sorta looks like this doesn't it?
1. Fleet still has ongoing Section 6
2. Fleet asked for release, not, IMO, going to happen anytime soon
3. Merger approved.
4. Fleet votes for either the association or no union
5. Fingers crossed here, but the association wins the election
6. BOTH UNIONS IN THE ASSOCIATION have to agree to single carrier status, not one over the other
7. Fleet for US still in section six negotiations, refuses to enter into "transition talks" until we have a cba just for US Fleet
8. We can/should/will hold up this precuios merger until we are treated with the respect that we rightfuly deserve!

You are correct in that Fleeet has no vote at this time. And we are not at the "mercy" of the association. We are IAM DL141 until we vote for, or against the association AFTER the merger is approved.

It will be voted in you dont want a repeat of the bloodbath on 1992.

tim,

the association was created AFTER the TWU agreed to what they agreed to. The TWU, IMO, cannot call for single carrier without the IAM's consent because of the association. I think you are wrong here, but hey, I may be way off also, I guess only time will tell who's proven right in this case. But just think about it for a second. If I am correct, and both the TWU and the IAM have to agree to single carrier, how much leverage do we have at the table now? The IAM can hold up single carrier status, throwing a big wrench in the works for this "fast tracked" merger. Why would you even put doubt out there? Because you always have to be right? You alone do not know what the whole of fleet wants/needs.
The Association is duty bound to administer all agreements. The MOU was signed strictly with single carrier in mind. Parker gave them a 4.3% pay raise in return for single carrier immediately or within 6 months is what it says. Whichever union is certified HAS to honor that. I know some eboard members have said otherwise but it simply is not true. The union can't break that MOU. They can't take the money and not uphold its end.

At any rate, I wouldn't get fixated on the single carrier anyways. Section 6 negotiations can still continue. In fact, the association recognized the IAM's position that it was going to finish US AIRWAYS talks first. Like I have said, in theory, the association could be a good thing for fleet service.

regards,

Anybody that Votes for the Teamsters has to have a screw loose. There is one Teamster thug down in Charlotte that got fired from US because he has Anger Management issues and the Teamsters hired him to recruit members. Probably with a baseball knock at the door. We all need the IAM Pension or 401K equivalent not any Teamster garbage pension. We need our seniority protections etc. We have that with the IAM. I can't see losing two to three years of Pension voting in another representative group who are claiming to give us a $40 gift to bring Pensions up to present IAM numbers. Let alone that the IAM is trying to negotiate a $104/yr of service agreement. There is no upside to the Teamsters. Its all sideways or worse IMO.

Ill take the IBT and Higher Wages as proven at other Airlines so I can afford a 401k and a New Pension as for your IAM pension you keep it like the IBT SAID!

The iampf is a ponzie scheme. Company pays money into it on our behalf then the iam pension trustees cut our benefits and devour them. Then iam says the members need to increase company contributions and divert from wage so the trustees can eat some more future benefits.

If it was a ponzi scheme it would be shut down by the federal government, try again.

Its like a ponzie scheme. Like social security. Hopefully if the mx vote in ibt that the iampf doesnt suffer a real big blow

Hey Travis it is not all about the money (salaries). The Pension issue at USAir really needs to be figured out if the Teamsters take over representation. I hope the USAir guys think this out before they vote in anger instead of common sense with all the information available to them. Pensions have been an issue with the IBT for a while. Even at AA we are concerned that the company may dump the pensions over to the IBT if they end up representing us. As far as this unknown Association thing that the IAM and the TWU concocted it remains to be seen if it will be voted in. We at AA are hoping to shoot it down with a vote but you never know with the TWU they may just implement it without a vote. They can do that or anything else they want to do.
