Sign Up for a Chance to Show Your Support in Washington D.C. for the US Airways and American Merger!

"I'm a firm believer in the free market. Let the merger live or die on it's own'"
Does a firm belief in the free market allow unlimited use of the Bankruptcy Courts? The American Free Markets spoke very loud and clear that they prefer Companies like jetBlue, Southwest and Spirit, yet they are hampered by Companies that try a business plan, watch it fail and run to the nearest BK court, tear up contracts, rework contracts and wipe out share holder value and when that "new" plan fails, they run back to the nearest BK court and do it all over again and it continues on and on.

Separately, if a union wants to use the old and tired extortion tactic I believe US Airways' management team will use the RLA to their advantage and extend the negotiating process .....

US Airways' management team WILL use the RLA to their advantage and extend the negotiating process, regardless of what you "believe", as ALL of team-tempe's history's well-proven.

" if a union wants to use the old and tired extortion tactic.."...? Well...Flourishing pom poms, then rolling over, playing dead and just whimpering and hoping for a nice little doggie treat, as you would wish everyone would do, certainly doesn't work. Only the most pathetic and spineless, complete village idiots could ever insist on licking the shoes that kick them.

This discussion has nothing about being frightened. This discussion is about global problems, geopolitical actions, a cyclical industry, understanding macroeconomic issues, and working for a company that do to no fault of its own has structural and fundamental competitive problems.

I believe any employee who does not support the company's strategic business plan to develop financial strength is misguided and does not understand industry economics. By the way, extortion will never, ever work at US Airways and can actually cause employee pain.

You new here? You start something and want it to support your ideology? You stir a hive and not expect to get stung? Oh foolish self-centered company man, you, too are expendible.

pick up a paper and READ the economic news of the day ... you think the sun is always going to shine ? you think the American stock market can defy gravity FOREVER ?????

Look around you , the US economy is in the doldrums ,China is pushing out fake economic numbers , Japan is creaking along as the most indebted country in the world ...

Our nations debt has gone from 9 Trillion in 2008 to over 16 Trillion today ... and what do we have to show for it ? almost nothing ....

When the Economic storm makes it's way back to our shores , not every Airline is going to survive , and it's NOT going to help us to be the smallest weakest one ...

A merger will make our company FAR stronger than it is today and thus better able to withstand economic shocks .

Cue the violins and cry me a river! I am well aware of the economy, and although I am not in the airline industry, I am feeling the trickle down affect of your industry which thanks to Delta eliminated unions in one swipe. You are a company man of the worst type in that you reap the benefits of a union but are more than willing to SELL-OUT your fellow members for your own gain. You are a self-centered fool who should join management's ranks because you won't hesitate to rat your members while YOU continue to get away with murder and F#@K both your members and those in management who stand in your way.

I see you at all our meetings and you are one who follows a 'look at them and not at me' pattern. I'm sure you RAT out your own, to which management says, "If he screws them, he'll screw us" but your nature doesn't see it.

All I said is null and void if your position is due to nepotism, because for all I know you might be Parker's psychotic nephew :p

This topic was started to discuss how interested employees can sign up for a chance to show their support for the proposed corporate transaction between US Airways and American Airlines. But, against the desire of people who want to discuss the employee merger support campaign some people hijacked the topic for their own personal collective bargaining campaign. If these individuals desire to disrespect others so be it. They can just be placed on "ignore."

Separately, if a union wants to use the old and tired extortion tactic I believe US Airways' management team will use the RLA to their advantage and extend the negotiating process that will delay union members their much deserved contract improvements and lose do to the time value of money. That's a union choice, which I respect. Interestingly, I believe this approach boosts the profit sharing payment made to other employees.

So it wasn't started to spark debate? Maybe you should start your own Yahoo forum and impose your own rules, Chip.

I think US Airways employees should march on Washington demanding their stolen pensions be returned. After all that's the money that's being thrown around here.

Our pensions that were terminated will never come back, get over it all ready, its been eight years.

And here is the help the company will get

He who can not be named could post or write anything anywhere and not sign his name and everybody would know exactly who had made the post.....same old story, same old song and dance!

All the best,

Bob

When you have a CEO that has multiple DUI's and tells MSNBC "not a trend", very incriminating emails about revenue potential to his competitors, but tells a different story to the public! Tells major govt officials your city is safe to gain concessions but goes back on his word, The list is never ending, Now picture this, LARGEST US CARRIER CEO, NOPE! The DOJ positively got this, spot on! DUI DOUG, Time to March, right out here! Consumers way out number the few that stand to prosper in this transaction! Just the TRUTH!

CWA should go after retirement healthcare benefits to bridge us from 55 to 65. United maintained theirs through bankruptcy. Don't think I will be marching on Washington in support of these guys?

"A couple of hundred workers from the carriers gathered on the steps of the Capitol Building to show their support for the merger." That's from HOW many employees of both AMR and US? A most impressive display indeed.

I too just read an article claiming only 350 employees showed up for the rally. 350 out of almost 100,000 not a good turn out at all. Matter fact I would call it very weak...

US Airways and American Airlines only wanted 300 participants with over 300 small group meetings held with Senate and House representatives during the two-day event. In addition, labor leaders (except the IAM who is being left out of the party) met with Asst. AG for Antitrust Bill Baer and Deputy Asst. David Gelfand a few blocks from the Capital Building and Congressional offices.

The rally was largely symbolic and not the primary objective.

US Airways and American Airlines are interested in obtaining a settlement that will meet Justice Department concerns and permit the current POR to proceed as described in the Disclosure Statement.
