Yes we get it. If not for the unions the world would be a much better place...and YOUR job security would fly out the window, so continue to amuse us on your kamikaze mission. Once the unions fall, your PADDING is gone, but you are too ignorant to realize it, so grab as many straws as you can.

I don't have the best memory but for those of you planning to use amplified sound aka a megaphone I do believe that there is a forty dollar permit fee that has to be paid in DC so make sure you check on that before you go so that your prepared .

You hide behind a union. They should give you NO representation to see where your @$$ puckering gets you, fool!

pick up a paper and READ the economic news of the day ... you think the sun is always going to shine ? you think the American stock market can defy gravity FOREVER ?????

Look around you , the US economy is in the doldrums ,China is pushing out fake economic numbers , Japan is creaking along as the most indebted country in the world ...

Our nations debt has gone from 9 Trillion in 2008 to over 16 Trillion today ... and what do we have to show for it ? almost nothing ....

When the Economic storm makes it's way back to our shores , not every Airline is going to survive , and it's NOT going to help us to be the smallest weakest one ...

A merger will make our company FAR stronger than it is today and thus better able to withstand economic shocks .

Nobody thinks this, and nobody's told you as much. Why? Because people do read the papers and people realize that markets go up, and markets go down, and markets collapse, because that's what markets do. I'm sure there are people that post here that have lived with these realities for longer than yourself and have lost a lot more from them than you ever have. Again, nobody has any issue with what you're saying is happening, because anyone can see it for themselves.

What people have issues with are the harebrained conclusions you draw from them, your attitude that your opinions are gospel, and your apparent belief that what's good for freedom MUST be good for everyone else. The truth is you aren't better informed than most people here and you aren't better motivated: you're simply the most frightened and possibly least mature. When you get referred to as "chicken little" it's not because of your dire prognostications but rather the obvious fear of the future and of the unknown that permeates nearly everything you post.

You call it complacency, but I think the fact is most people don't want to live their day to day lives being as frightened as you are all of the time, because that's a crappy way to live. You need to come to terms with the fact that there are things that are going to happen on this planet and in your life that you are going to have no control over. There's more to life than obsessing over the global economy and placing all of your prospects of future happiness on mergers and airline executives who couldn't give two craps about you otherwise.

This discussion has nothing about being frightened. This discussion is about global problems, geopolitical actions, a cyclical industry, understanding macroeconomic issues, and working for a company that do to no fault of its own has structural and fundamental competitive problems.

I believe any employee who does not support the company's strategic business plan to develop financial strength is misguided and does not understand industry economics. By the way, extortion will never, ever work at US Airways and can actually cause employee pain.

Oh god here we go again, feel the pain, lmao.

Who do you think you are?

Keep up with the scare tactics and lies.

Once again history repeats itself.

The discussion might not, but as regards the poster I was addressing it obviously does.

This discussion is about global problems, geopolitical actions, a cyclical industry, understanding macroeconomic issues, and working for a company that do to no fault of its own has structural and fundamental competitive problems.

I thought the discussion was about going to D.C. to stooge for the company at a fully paid for photo op and PR event?

I believe any employee who does not support the company's strategic business plan to develop financial strength is misguided and does not understand industry economics.

I believe the execution of the company's strategic business plan is best left to the professionals they pay millions to do it. This company does not respect me enough to negotiate a contract in good faith, and I don't think acting like a giddy idiot for the merger materially helps me in any way or has much bearing on the outcome.

By the way, extortion will never, ever work at US Airways and can actually cause employee pain.

You think we shouldn't bite the hand that feeds. I think we shouldn't lick the hand that deprives.

This topic was started to discuss how interested employees can sign up for a chance to show their support for the proposed corporate transaction between US Airways and American Airlines. But, against the desire of people who want to discuss the employee merger support campaign some people hijacked the topic for their own personal collective bargaining campaign. If these individuals desire to disrespect others so be it. They can just be placed on "ignore."

Separately, if a union wants to use the old and tired extortion tactic I believe US Airways' management team will use the RLA to their advantage and extend the negotiating process that will delay union members their much deserved contract improvements and lose do to the time value of money. That's a union choice, which I respect. Interestingly, I believe this approach boosts the profit sharing payment made to other employees.

Okay thanks dad.

I think management's strategy is to extend the negotiating process for as long as it can regardless.

The only Fear I have is fear for my fellow workers who may be caught off guard by rapidly changing economic conditions ..

"The truth is you aren't better informed than most people here "

Incorrect , I am FAR more informed than most people on here ,i am far more informed than probably 98% of the population ...

Let me put it to you like this ... economics and business news is my sports ...I LOVE it ... Some people , they know the names of every player on a team , even the names of players on opposing teams AND their stats ...Me , I love to read about every bit of economic news across the globe that I can get my hands on ... What's going on in India ? what's new in Japan ? What are the levels of electricity consumption and Railway loads in China ? and of course what's new in Greece !

I've got a secret for ya chock , I don't really care THAT much about Airline stuff ...I've never posted on airliners.net , I don't even read it ..The Trends and the History of Airlines , doesn't even interest me ..

Janet Yellen , or Larry Summers , THOSE are the questions I care about ...

My Hobbie is business news , economic trends

"What people have issues with are the harebrained conclusions you draw from them"

If you want to explain to me why we shouldn't be concerned with economic trends , if you want to brilliantly point out to me that we live in a magical bubble where we cannot be touched , than i'm all ears for that speech ..

I think part of the nature of our disagreement lies in the fact that you and I, on any given day, have a very different work experience. I'm glad you take it upon yourself to stay informed, where do you find the time? Speaking of living in a bubble, what are you going to do for the next bid? I'm pretty sure I know, but I'd suggest going mornings on N1 ramp, mornings conx, or a Saturday night at the international carousel so you can get back in touch with the realities that most of your brother and sister rampers have to live with. Working under the pressure of a ticking clock puts you into the kind of contact with US managers and their management style you don't get just sitting by a belt waiting for bags to roll by.

Anyways, have fun in D.C.
