if the majority feels representation will be necessary it will happen..but that can only be determined if we have a vote, whenever that will be..

If you want to take that chance - so be it...

again, it is whatever the majority decides..

Just glad its you and not me.
that probably isnt the most effective way explaining to someone considering another way..

I say:
1. Oust Ms. Friend (no retired FAs should be Int'l President)
2. Vote in the changes to the Const and Bylaws that Mr. Griffin is proposing that will provide more accountability and transparency.
3. Clean house of any fat, pork, hangers-on.
4. Call the vote.
5. Negotiate an industry LEADING (not industry "standard") contract that provides NW's scope and better retiree health benefits. (NW retirees have subsidized retiree health insurance so they pay around $180/mo compared to Delta's where a single person must pay around $530/mo.)

3. Clean house of any fat, pork, hangers-on.

4. Call the vote.

that would be nice.

AGREED!!! Little does he know it will be the best thing that happened to him.

"He" is a she as she has let us know oh-so-many-times.
But she won't cry too much because she more-than-likely has alternative sources of income. One of the major posters for the Facebook NoWayAFA group hasn't flown a trip in months-----not even in December, yet has the gall to tell those of us flying max hours how to vote and how to think.
Whether this person is one in the same, I don't know. Doesn't really matter to me as I know their biggest fear is no longer being "teacher's pet" (every Special Assignment applied for is granted). You see, with many (not all) of these people, it's really all about THEM--their cushy "drop-to-zero hours" , "teacher's pet" life they are sooo afraid of losing. They bawl about Danny C and other AFA insiders getting "perks" but deep down they're afraid--- afraid that there will be new kids on the block and that they will no longer be relevant. Capiche?

Can it be that the #1 reason the AFA is stalling is the almighty $ ?
Just think, the sooner they call an election and the sooner the AFA is de-certified,
think of all the Union Dues they will disappear. How much would that be anyway?
7000 X ? Make no mistake, both sides have alot to loose/gain.

Pop....you're my new hero!

Speaking of what management at United wanted to do with Ted. Well, without a union it happened at Delta. It was called SONG.

HELLO! Finally people friggin get it! Delta was my first airline and I was hired on 9/11/2000! After 9/11/2001, this perfect Delta went to HELL! I was furloughed left and right, and then came along SONGGGG! I had to interview for the same airline I worked for because they put PTV's in the plane's and green paint on the outside. Of course don't forget the paycut we took to work on the same planes and doing more work. Then they shut us down and I almost get furloughed again, while we were hiring speakers off the street. They were actually calling people on furlough and asking them if they wanted to learn another language and then they could have their jobs back. These people were hired as is and now you want something different. A airline with a contract would of had to recall every f/a and then only then could they start hiring speakers. After this starting going down and how gutted our "Work Rules" were, it was time to look at other options. If my company makes a mistake, it gets fixed! I have iron clad work rules, I have a VOICE and never have to worry about getting fired for a non-rev hiding in the lav. I know AFA will make it through this time, my former co-worker's are just to smart to pass up the protection they NEED AND DESERVE!

You are right, CAL f/a union is not that great, take a look at their contract.. I believe CAL f/a's are the only f/a's they deal with.. About the only thing they have is higher rates of block hour pay.. The rest sucks.. UAL flight attendants have stronger scope than our pilots do - you can't buy that dignity.. You have zero scope at DAL =(

Sorry guy, but our contract at CAL is one of the best next to SWA's. We have excellent pay, great work rules, pension, 401K, excellent scope and we have snap backs for the cut's we took a few year's back. We get those the day our contract is amendable, 12/30/09. Along with that we also get a pay raise when it expires, our top pay goes to 50.00/hour/DOM and 52/hour/Int'l and our incentive pay goes back to 5.00/hour from the 3.00 it is now. So our top pay is actually 55.00/DOM and 57.00/Int'l, not including all of our overrides. Reserve life is good, we can pick up, and person drop, and trade and swap all we want.

We run on a very flexiable system and can fly 200+ hours if we choose or 0. We have alot of flight attendant's that make six figure's and no other airline has that except SWA. Reserve time varies by base and thankfully we don't rotate like UAL or SWA or AA. I have a friend who is LAX based with UAL has 17 years and still sometimes rotates. She just left the base and now commutes. Our EWR and Newark Transatlantic F/A's with 3 years are holding lines in both bases. Sorry but hand's down, our contract win's over UAL's ancient and out dated system. Along with our pay, overrides and work rule's to.

BB--

You're kidding, right? Normally, you're so up on the news. We've been through this over and over. They were WAITING (stalling if you'd prefer your negative connontation) for Obama's choice for the NMB. Now they are WAITING for her confirmation. They have already stated that the vote will be this summer, but there is no exact date yet.
Secondly, this is going to be a VERY close election IMHO. I wouldn't be so sure of yourself about an AFA loss. I think word is spreading as a new pro-contract FB site has started up (the one Jalbalpa posted a link to) and has gained 400 members in about a week's time. To be honest, I think that NoWayAFA FB site has created a backlash and it is actually having the exact opposite effect that its founders may have intended AND is galvanizing the other side.
PS: The "they just want your dues money" song is starting to get a little old. Anything else on that album? (CD?)
