PIT F/A & Pilot Numbers

Did they ever extend the subway/train out to BWI? I know there was talk about it at one time. If so, there's 3 WN n/s a day PIT/BWI/PIT.

check out the B30 bus from BWI to Greenbelt station on the green line on metro. Then you transfer to the yellow line (on the same track in the same direction once you get into downtown) to get to National. The B30 bus picks up on the curb at BWI.

the B30 bus is about 3 bucks, I think.

Obviously, everyone in PIT will have to make the decision that is right for them. Knowing were the time is going, knowing what type of commute you'll have is also a very strong issue. The numbers can be confusing if you look at different screens in CBS. Long term viablility for a block rests heavily on PHL with increased INT and DOM flying, however CLT with the increased time should add to the mix.

I also think the chance of a buy-out is about as far away as the moon. Ain't gonna happen. Past practice has shown this.

Just my opinion...

According to the PowerPoing presentation that was put out on theHub the above information is incorret....

PIT to BOS is staying at 4 flights a day (mainline and express)
PIT to PHL is staying at 10 flights a day (mainline and express)...losing on mainline to express
PIT to CLT is INCREASING from 6 to 8 a day (mainline and express)
PIT to LGA is INCREASING from 6 to 8 a day (mainline and express)
PIT to DCA is DECREASING from 8 to 6 a day (mainline and express)

SKY High states: I scanned the USAirways website for each route, typed in a (OCT/NOV) date and COUNTED. Glad YOU could announce the future changes!!!

You atleast have the choice of commuting to BWI/DCA/IAD...on US Airways, Southwest, and United Express ;)

I'd just avoid Dulles as a whole alternative.

Seniority is obiously the biggest issue for everyone at this point.

sky high states: I'm surprised you said, that! Dont you want INCREASES in your vacation time? It's not like they're paying us FIVE HOURS for the Vac day anyway! And, SICK TIME, wanna get 45 hours a year and each day you call off is considered a SICK DAY? That's basically TWO calls a YEAR. handle that, while commuting on top of it?

Seniority? NOT EVEN.

It is a bit ironic that PIT F/As would be concerned about reserve issues.
Why is it Ironic? It was the Pittsburgh reserves that have been displaced every year for the last three years and in many cases were on reserve in the new base too!
BTW..
There was always someone there (in Pittsburgh) speaking up for the Reserves.

One fact remains-as Songbird stated-every base voted for this language, every base except PITTSBURGH!

Now that's ironic!

It's all relative to where you are.

For a reserve, our issue is this f&%$ing system.

BH's have life by the balls while a reserve has their balls stomped on by the company, union and the BH's!

WE WANT OFF OF RESERVE...........PERIOD!!!!!

I personally could give a crap about vaca at this point. I only get 6 days off a month after working ETB. If I held a block I could have at least 16 +- days off a month. That WOULD be a vacation for me.

See, it all depends on one's situation!!!!!

Sarcasm?????

Only that it starts with marketing - or did when CCY was running things so I assume it still does. Marketing puts together the schedule they'd like to see (what plane types fly where when), then maintenance and resource planning massage it to work with their needs (maintenance cycles, pilot training, crew duty times, etc). Once they have a final flight schedule, a computer program spits out the trips.

Jim
Thanks again Jim. It will be interesting to see what new flights will be launched in place of the PIT flying.

Very good points. THIS Reserve System absolutely sucks. 20 year Reserves is ridiculous! And people should NOT have to give up their days off to pick up an ETB just to make a living.

PIT to DCA is DECREASING from 8 to 6 a day (mainline and express)

Those numbers jive with what I found on theHub for Jan. 16 (a Tuesday). To refine it further:

PIT - BOS is 2 mainline, 2 RJ
PIT - LGA is 3 mainline, 3 RJ
PIT - DCA is 1 mainline, 6 RJ (I came up with a total of 7)
PIT - PHL is 6 mainline, 2 RJ (I came up with a total of 8)
PIT - CLT is 6 mainline, 0 RJ (I came up with a total of 6)

This is for a weekday. Saturday and Sunday service between all cities differs both in frequency and in equipment type (more RJ's on weekends). So if you can't hold weekends off, keep that in mind.

This also does not include any off-line options, like SWA between PIT and PHL.

I was surprised that Amtrack offers frequent service between BWI and Washington's Union Station. 27-30 minutes and a little over $12 if you buy the multi-ticket pack.
