Piling on a persons personal life should be off limits

Bottom falls out of a deal you found so,so lucrative and then you find solace in a bottle.

Wonder what was in it for him that he found it neccessary to get 'faced' after the bottom fell out.

One thing about the ride to the top.....its a long way down dude.

Time for a resignation ;)

Parker made an err in judgement for the FOUTH TIME.
He said in his statement that he will guarentee it will not happen again. Why should anyone believe that?

The CEO of any company holds a celebrity status (even if only within their company). This is not a matter of a CEO of just any company. It's the airline industry folks, continually exposed to the public. Like an athlete he's in a position to be a role model professionally and privately. He also needs to live up to the same standards he expects of his employees.

Sadly, agents will probably hear alot of backlash from disgruntled passengers. You'll probably hear things like "well, no wonder your flight is late or cancelled or broken etc. you don't know what your doing, your company is being run by a drunk". The public will probably jump all over this in a mean way...unfortunately.

US Airways made it a company issue with their statements. They didn't say this is a personal matter and we have no comment. They know it's a reflection of their company. I wonder which one of the company attorney's was in the car with him?

USA320Pilot,

are you going to repeatedly make the same statement until people agree with you?

IF you don't want to see "people kicked when they are down" why do you keep posting in this thread over and over and keeping it going?

Hmm...I'm torn... I was in DP's corner until I read his 3rd letter to employees of the day, saying that similar incidents have occurred.... 3 times before...

A couple of questions:

1. Why not just tell us about the previous offenses in the first letter; he must've known it would be dug up eventually. It seems to me that he is trying to hide everything until it gets "stirred up", then he goes into "repair" mode, and that is cowardly.....

2. Knowing that similar incidents have happened 3 times in your past, I would like to know what was going through his head when he decided to "risk it" for a FOURTH time, this time with presumably much more "at stake"? I mean, after 3 beers, you can still think and assess your actions with some clarity.... I'll ask at the next Crew News Session....

The bottom line he was in his role of CEO at the FBR, not private citizen.

He has shown poor judgement but how you all of you koolaide drinkers defend someone who has three prior DUI/Alcohol incidents with the law?

You people are simply amazing on how blinded you truly are.

Doug Parker made a mistake ... by speeding and drinking 3 beers ...

What makes me sick ... they thrive off of the negative ...

I believe everybody should be held accountable for their actions ...but ...

Piling on a guy’s personal life should be off limits ... sad, sad person who does not understand empathy.

Regards,

USA320Pilot
1. DP did make a mistake. Quite a few of us have had 3 or more beers and climbed behind the wheel and drove home. The BIG difference is: DP got caught, plain and simple. We didn't.

2. Thriving off the negative is easy when it isn't you.

3. I believe everybody should be held accountable for their actions, and there are no BUTs about it.

4. Piling on is legal, watch football. Understanding empathy isn't the problem. People have no sympathy for his actions.

5. Been there, done that; just never been caught. Learned many years ago that I didn't need to prove I was stupid, just let people think so.

6. Being a CEO, DP should be held to a higher standard to begin with. How the BOD looks at this will be reflected in his upcoming bonus. I'd bet he won't go home broke.

Do I feel sorry for DP? Not one ounce!
Do I think he and his family are embarassed? Definitely!
Will it happen again? Only time will tell!

What a bunch of vultures! These negative posts have nothing to do with Doug Parker, they have to do with each individual person's own issues and personalities. What's going on in your own lives that you have to be so angry and unsupportive of the man who signs your paychecks?

It was a bad moment in judgement -- get over it....things happen -- No ones perfect. Mistakes happen -- we've all made them.....

Do You Ever Notice Though, The Regulars On This Board Seem To NEVER Make A Mistake..Their PERFECT In Every Way!! Kinda Sad Don't Ya Think? I Really Feel Sorry For Them! B) B) And Why Is It That The NON Airline People On Here Know EVERYTHING About Our Business? B) B)

Yesterday was a gray day. The fallout from Mr Parker's lapse in judgement could haunt US Airways, its Employees and Customers for years to come.

I think what comes off as taking pleasure in "malicious glee in the misfortune of others" is often a reaction to a percieved or real hypocrisy. Jim & Tammy Faye Baker come to mind as an example of what I'm referring to. The public had a field day with those two. PTL came to stand for "Pass The Loot" instead of praise the Lord in a nanosecond in that case.

Sometimes it hurts to face reality and Mr Parker is getting the full measure of reality this very instant. Mr Parker's plight should serve as a cautionary tale for all who seek to put themselves in the spotlight for sometimes (like Now) that light is often far to bright to withstand and every flaw is shown in bold relief.

And How Many Times Have You Having Your Share Of Drinks In Your FC Seat Got In Your or A Car And Driven?

Why Do You Even Care? You Don't Even Work For This Company!
MOVE ON!! B)

A320 you seem to think we are knocking Doug when he is down. Guess what, he made the decision to drive that night. As I said in the other thread I have no sympathy for ANYONE under these circumstances. I have seen the results of dui crashes more times than I care to think about. Doug & possibly other people were lucky,

phl88, why cant you stick to the topic at hand instead of attacking the posters?

There is NO defense of a CEO who has been busted FOUR TIMES, not once, but FOUR!

Give it a rest, he screwed up big time and that is the fact.
