Well I'm not going to start saying yes, because you just don't know with this company. But I certainly don't think it hurts us. Especially since we have the coalition set up, and the coalition gets to declare single carrier status, not the airline. Many people don't realize what a big deal that is. But it was huge that the IAM & TWU came to that agreement.

you can bet them donkeys are gonna want that single carrier status as soon as they can get it  but til they can give us fair and equiable contracts   it wont happen...     in your opin  does the iam have the upper hand sort of speak....    i dont put anything past them donkeys to come up w crap  we need to stay strong   united more than ever

In today's world of the NMB not releasing work groups from negotiations, I don't know that I would ever say any union would have the upper hand. But if the team stays strong, and we don't allow fence agreements and we don't declare single carrier status, it does give us some nice leverage. That's why I'm saying the coalition was huge, if we didn't have that right now, we would be looking at the TWU declaring it soon, and we would be busting our asses taking up all our time on a run off election. Now this way, we can focus just on negotiations.

The coalition needs to be ready to stand firm in their insistence of reaching Section 6 contracts with the former US bargaining groups before entering into Transition talks and requesting single carrier status. This is our only leverage. We should not hold out hope the NMB will release either group based on past history. It should be apparent to all... the battle lines have been clearly drawn. LOCK and LOAD! I wish the best to our NC going forward. I hope the membership rallies behind and supports our NC and the stated strategy.

Sorry for stepping on CB's post everyone. The second paragraph is my post and reply to CB's original. The opinions expressed in the second paragraph are those of ograc's and not necessarily CB.

With the coalition in place and both unions having to declare for single carrier status, I think eventually the TWU will be very insistent on is getting a section 6 agreement. After all they will want to improve on that POS contract they just voted in for 5 years. They can't improve on it until we get to the joint talks. So they have a pretty big interest in us getting a section 6 agreement ASAP.

Thanks, we all just need to hang in there, don't get worn down, that's what the company is counting on. Hopefully the future is bright for us all. We definitely deserve some good times!!

If and when the merger happens. We will have to use our leverage that we have to keep the work groups seperate everywhere. Don't let them combine operations since we won't be under one agreement. The synergies that fleet and maintenance can keep them from realizing will come into play eventually.
+1

id think any joint contract would take years, so any amr agent woulx only get enhanced pay if our section 6 negotiations resulted in a pay raise that will further increase their 2015 pay parity snap. Unfortunately there is some ignorance with some twu members who think we are holding things up and that somehow a joint ta can be attained in record time. I hate to say it but they think usair management is the bomb.

You should remind US Airways management of the great political victory they've been given today (albeit with cost ) ......

I want a better contract , I want American's five weeks of vacation , I want a fair and DECENT sick policy that doesn't require half of the work force to come in even if they have the flu, sharing it like we were in 5th grade ....(obviously above all else I want job security , but that should go without saying )

The Ball is now in US airway's court ... remind them that NOW is the time to move forwards , urge them to offer a sweeping joint agreement for both sides ... one that will give those of us who could end up in Section six what WE seek and one that will put a little bit more on the table for the current American Airline workers ...

If they were to come out RIGHT NOW with an agreement that couldn't be turned down by both sides they would be saving themselves needless years of labor strife ....REMIND them of how much more efficiently things moved once US Air and America West fleet became one .

This week they will be in a back slapping congratulatory mood with a new outlook on the future ... Push them hard not just to settle an agreement with US but to make the leap , bridge the gap and offer up an agreement so solid that both American AND US Airways fleet will immediately agree ...

tell them to begin the new American NOW ................. with a fair and equitable contract .

I could be wrong, but I don't think a joint agreement will take that long. We should have most things in place from our section 6, we already have the seniority integration worked out, which is usually a huge sticking point. So I think you would be able to get right to the main issues pretty quickly on joint talks. I know that might sound like wishful thinking to some.
