New F meals

I just received the press release email about upgrades to first class meals. I noticed two things...one thanks to jimntx...they say you'll be craving seconds...probably because the meals are inadequate. And, they refer to it as upgrades. They don't go overboard in their description so even they know this really a baby step towards becoming competitive. Oh, and a third and fourth thing...no mention of glassware or better wines. It is really pathetic how much they suck.

Well, on my flight today...NOBODY ate the sandwich or the pasta salad (or whatever that was). They took a bite or two... not impressed...

And what is with that Cranberry Nut mix in couch?????? That was sooooo gross. Everybody was asking for peanuts or pretzels instead...

Haven't you realized that so much of the new food/snacks is sweet and not so common. We have apricot cream cheese, whole walnuts in chicken salad, sweet ham on sweet French toast, candied cranberries and something else I'm missing. Maybe Denise Austin eats that crap before she hits the mat for a psycho workout but not mainstream America. I'm sure the ma and pa kettles as we're calling them don't eat that stuff at home.

I WISH I would have taken pics with my phone on one of my last airbus trips. Both east and west should get pics to see just how DIFFERENT the planes really are. Our east airbus galleys both front AND back are completely different. The galley is the same on our east 319,320 and 321 now. I was on a few west 320's and they are WAY different "including a galley curtain I might add. If they fix the amount of coffee, sugar etc which sometimes is enough for a 747 they'd free up space right there. Putting the rollups back on the setup frees up even more. They COULD add enough glassware to do a rountrip if they wanted to. A standard beverage/meal cart (including the new gray ones) could hold 4 trays of glasses. Two trays of rocks and two trays of wine. This would take up only one side of a cart and only the top portion of the divider. There is more to the reasoning than space. They are @$$es and don't know what they are doing. What an improvement. The "new" service should have never been this limited in the first place. So NO we won't stop complaining and b!tching. UWCACTUS....what do you do out west? Are you a f/a?
You know you bring up a good point about the space thing. Last month I had a 4 day with 4 transcon legs and I was A on the 321. Of course when I got on the plane I had to rip the galley apart and straighten it from the last mess of an A that was there. After I was finished I have to say that there was room for everything and I even had some space left in one of the carts for some glassware. All of this even after I removed all of the Sun Chips from the overheads and placed them in the atlas drawers that stayed in the containers. Alot of this mess in the galleys can be attributed to catering who I have to say I've had it with because they are making this "galley chopping" even worse than it would be. For starters there are half used carts full of tonic water and Diet Sprite hogging up what little space there is and then when catering comes on they decide to just open the carts and throw whatever in a drawer and stuffing more plastic and coffee cups than we could use in an entire year. When there is a red seal on the cart it means that it is used and needs to go, it doesn't mean rip off the red seal, open the cart and then leave it and move on.

I in no way would ever endorse how they've ruined our planes but I have to admit that there is room in the galleys to get our service items, alot of the problem is that we have flight attendants and other related employees that are so bull headed and stubborn and will never accept change that it screws it up for everyone.

This is just a friendly discussion about change in menu......,But I do agree that there is way toooooo much time spent discussing this.

It does seem that no matter what changes are made those that post on here will NEVER be happy with anything this airline does. Maybe me included

It is an AIRLINE NOT RESTAURANT!!!

And 2 hours is NOT enough time to do a meal service.

Question....not trying to stir the pot...not trying to say "US Sux," etc....just a question....

Between PVD and PTI, about 467 miles.....and an hour and a half, hour 45....we received full breafast on the morning flight...and a light snack for lunch...and the dinners were amazing.

I use to take that 6:00 pm departure because it was so damned enjoyable.....it was normally a tenderloin filet, mashed potatoes and fresh green veggie served on china and linen...and the wine was decent and served in glassware. And it was a heck of a good dinner.

Now, I'm not suggesting US go back to that....but I am curious as to your thoughts of why "2 hours is NOT enough time to do a meal service" (militant bold face on the NOT) when clearly, and in fact, it was plenty long enough for 12 of us to be served a nice meal. Oh sure, the F/As had to work....but it was more then possible...it was doable and quite nice.

Just curious as to the changes in modern aviation that have now rendered meals on a 2 hour flight "NOT" possible.

Enquiring minds need to know....thanks
