And there are a few more we could do as well. Some of them are really not that difficult.
Fleet repositions at US, even at some MTC stations. I personally think if MTC is at a station they should do it. Let's see what a new contract brings

Enough already, we would like to discuss the latest Delta announcement.
Yes  agreed, Do you think this will drag out negotiations after all our contacts are not up for a couple of years

No problem with you Metal. You didn't make the JACKASS comment.
I've always subscribed to the view that in any company, ALL workers are important in whatever jobs they do. Not always equal, but important nonetheless. However, compensation should reflect the differences.

So what there ramp makes $12. I think our ramp make too much already just to throw bags. But if the Co wants to pay I do not have a problem with that. But I have a problem with keeping the mechanics pay lower to subsidize the ramp. Here is where our International comes in and noone as the balls to say that is what is going on.
Actually, mechanics have been subsidizing OH.

There's probably a lot of tasks that could be performed by ramp but, and it's a big but, is the understanding there for the complete job, not just one particular aspect of it.  This is where you as a non-licensed "mechanic" could get in trouble.  Follow through my friend cover all the bases (and your ass)  otherwise you could be across the table staring down an FAA inspector.

You just have to hope the union can work out a deal that gets the work groups comparable compensation. I'm not familiar with how Delta contracts stuff out or utilizes its work force but the union should know all. They need to get comparable compensation and show numbers to the work groups. This deal Delta did could push American to do a buy out. Parker probably puked when he got wind of Deltas deal.

Nothing personal. "I" actually respect your job and your jobs more than the average. And I also mean even more than some of your own.

I don't know what the association and company will do. This ASS-ociation was formed to protect the dues, AFL-CIO and the IAMPF. This is all new to all of us including the guys fighting each other on both sides of the table (TWU-IAM).

Thanks, I appreciate that comment.

And had they rushed into negotiations we may have been locked in and had to HOPE that Parker would choose to match the new DL rate announcement?

Maybe the tortoise still wins the race over the hare.
Have to admit you are right.

Sometime over the next few years it would be nice if they started negotiations. Have to admit it doesn't look good email both virella and Doyle and neither replied. I can understand we only pay them to represent us. Why bother talking or answering the peons it's not like we can recall them. It's could almost be a life long gig.

" newbie clowns " perhaps you might check yourself, as 700 has 33,700 posts and you are at about 1800.....
The reply was in regards to the overpaid bag thrower comment...maybe I should of just said "clowns"
when someone shows up making statements like that.

FC are overpaid for the job they do, my belief. If the market rate keeps them at that pay great for them. The riff between Line and OH has been there for a long time. Should the line make more then OH? yes.
But since we are suppose to be a union that opportunity should be available for all mechanics. Lets erase the line  vs OH  and let seniority and skill dictate pay. I work the line and lean for us to make more, but OH should have the opportunity to be able to come to NY LA ORD and work for the higher pay an A&P is an A&P wether Line or OH .

I'm curious. So what do you belive I should be paid then? According to the BLS the average person dealing with bags in all industries make about $12.00 per hour. That's the true "Market" for that job. Unions are not supposed to be dictated by the market though for your information. They're supposed to try to raise that bar.

If the market were a living breathing entity and you went in front of it and asked what it wanted to pay you, I can tell you what it would come back with. Minimum wage. The lowest possible number it can get or force you to take. That's reality. It doesn't care about what you want or what you feel your needs are.

So you just like that market you quote believe you should be paid more than me, OH, the agents, FAs, support ataff, (Maybe the Pilots, management, The CEO, Tom Brady) McDonald's, Walmart.

Just remember that not everyone might think you're worth as much as you think you are. I bet the passengers who want the cheapest seat they possibly can get would also say, YOU'RE OVERPAID.

Oh and I'm glad that you admitted you work the line and are not a part of the ATD. Because if you were I'd really have to make a few phone calls to some friends to see if we can find out who you are, and have your tail tossed out of their ASAP.

You certainly aren't a true Union man IMO.

You don't get it.
