The CWA/IBT association settled with US before any other group, it was just a few months.

So you #### and complain and you don't even have the right to vote on your CBA.

Priceless.

More important to me is that my dues money is not used for political blowhards like you.

A new CBA can/will be enforced as the Int'l sees fit. They own it, right?

Yes I know, I was the recording secretary for one of the largest IAM locals in the Transportation Department.

Educate me.
What , exactly does the recording secretary do?

Then you understand that only those portions of your dues that are used ( on the books ) for political purpose is to be refunded to the union member. The TWU then ostracizes that member and if possible places them in bad standing, especially if they go on hand pay.

Sorry, but I couldn't ignore your "They own it, right" comment. Read TWU Arbitration Caes M-528-92 and M-529-92 to learn how that comment originated. It was a case of a Local President, making an agreement with Local Management, that violated his members rights under the TWU Contract. The International objected and filed a 29D Grievance. The arbitrated
decision speaks for itself.

I'm sure you've negotiated many contracts and have all the answers but how would you have handled it?

The RS job is the person who takes the minutes during the business meeting, handle all correspondence to the local lodge, signs all the vouchers so the checks can be issued, handles all documents for people to go to conferences and conventions, in charge of all elections and more duties

The RS is behind the president and Vice President and is on the e-board.

Hey stupid  I pay my dues and per the twu constitution I still do not have the right to vote on a contract. So why does it matter if I pay dues or not????? The twu can impose a contract on me anytime they want and I am pretty sure that the iam owns there contract and can impose a contract on there members also.

Oh yes you do, its in the PMUS CBA and the PMAA CBA.

Read the CBAs.

You are wrong again, we had two dues objectors who refused to pay dues at all and they were terminated, its quite clear in the CBA, and there is a process for it.

You can become a dues objector, but you still have to pay dues to what is germane to the CBA, its called the Union Security Clause and its in both the IAM and TWU CBAs.

Better go read Whirpool vs Machinists, and Beck vs CWA.

And I would bet that in your AMFA/WN CBA it has the same language, a closed shop is permitted under the RLA and all must pay dues.

Don't forget to get the coffee and make copies. For the most part. LOL

You have to pay dues as a condition of employment.
It was excruciating paying agency fee dues to an impotent representative, the TWU. ALL the former UAL/DL/AA/NW mechanics at WN consider them the bane of the industry. If not for the RLA exemption to Right-To-Work laws the TWU would be toast at AA.
