A friend sent me this from the Delta AMT website.  May be hard to read... I had to reduce the size of the pic due to upload size restrictions.

Amazing. Reading that chart from Delta sends a message. Catch me if you can. In your face. Who needs a union when you have Delta who compensates their employees with figures like this. It tells me Delta appreciates and respects their workers.

I was speaking only what the pilots and f/as conceded to get their Delta +..... Yes we gave more than our share. But the reality of it is the company will not just give us money without something in return. Now if you are willing to hold your ground for several years and forego any increase in compensation, that's fine. But many employees might disagree with you.
I'm not willing to accept anything that doesn't restore our sick pay, longevity, vacation and holidays.  Also overtime (double time after 12 hours and second day off o.t.) and double time and a half for holiday work.  I'm done with the second class citizen treatment. Everyone else gets this stuff and we need to get it too.  You can settle for anything you want but we need more than money.

Remember Headquarters new saying about us. Why by the cow when we can get the milk for free!!!! This just proves it.

There should be two slides in the next meeting - this one and then one with work rules and healthcare costs next to it to compare the two fully - a major impact on labor cost is work rules - taking one number is not comparable - having the same as DL means having everything the same

It disturbs when I hear guys at work saying we will never get the delta plus 7 now. I think it only puts more pressure on the company and union.

For AA
Why can delta pay its employees and AA won't, and Doug already said Delta +7, it will be hard to walk that back without very unhappy ground employees (remember when USAir FSCs were unhappy over one Christmas travel season)and that includes sick time, x2, holiday pay, holidays, etc etc........

For The Association
A non union shop is doing this well without a union. It will be hard for the AFL-CIO to recruit more members and fend off AMFA or some other union if they fail to deliver now!

Your chart you provided seems to be pretty accurate.  Although the SWA examples are slightly off but not by much.  The 43.89 rate is a day shift mech only.  The yearly comp in the colored chart I am assuming is including the 9.5% PS added to the yearly salary and all at straight time only.  Some of the other numbers are including shift dif, line premiums and other premiums.  I would actually rather see charts that show the absolute most top out mech pay including all premiums, shift diff, long, line prem, ect...  I also don't like how they combined the yearly rate with PS because for one PS is too variable and 2 not all co's offer PS.  The other item not included in the SWA numbers are the bonuses we received this year and other "comp" thru swag which indeed does compute over to $ when you use them.  Just might be a lot easier to compare wages to wages, PS to PS, 401K's to 401K's, and then finally perks for perks.  Another item left out of the SWA figures are the 401K matches funded by the co 9.3% dollar for dollar currently.  Also keep in mind our pilots just got a TA to vote on that some are saying they did get their retirement increased and the mechanics are too asking for a bump in retirement comp.

Remember DL does not have to negotiate with anyone (except pilots) therefore they can pay what they want and the work rules are very different - you have too look at everything in total - looking at just pay is not how the company will ever look at it - if everyone takes the time to look at the full picture you can then pick and choose what is best for you.

I found this figure on another post from a Delta employee. For Aircraft Maintenance this is the new base pay rate.
$41.15 Base pay.
Now if we would get DELTA plus 7 here is what too expect if our union had balls.
$41.15 plus 7 percent is $2.88.
$41.15 plus $2.88 = $44.03.
$44.03 plus $5.00 license premiums.
$44.03 plus $5.00 = $49.03.
Now if the figure I received from the Delta guy is correct, Does anyone honestly think we are going to make $49.03 an hour if and when we get a JCBA? This will put the Association to the test. I expect back peddling from the company and the association.
I just became a 49ers fan. Not the football team in SFO, but the AA ASSociation/Delta plus 7% team.

As far as AMT'S I don't hear guys leaving in carloads to go work for a union shop. Sure as hell not here at AA under the ASSociation. I think most of us have seen the big picture. It sucks! Being under the TWU is bad enough, now we have the loser ASSociation. Were unions suppose to improve and guarantee the best compensation and work rules for its members?

bigjets,
While it may look like DL is "giving" their employees better comp because they are generous I strongly believe this is more to screw with Parker and the new AA. DL has fought the merged AA/US on many things. Look at the APFA TA, right after they got a TA that Parker and Glading touted as better than DL, DL raised their pay. APFA was turned down but forced through by arbitration. Parker had to increase rates beyond the orginal TA. Now the wage adjustment language kicks in and DL ups the comp after the date plus ups the ante on the DL+7 offer. Parker is backed in to place he may not want to be. Talk of being like SW's Herb and wanting to be liked by his employees is at risk as well as his desire to put labior unrest behind him from the US days. Looks like that won't be as easy as he thought.
