Members walk the floors in Tulsa!

Thanks to the great effort of the membership, flyers are distributed before and after work at the gates!
.
You had to be in Tulsa Monday to hear the thousands of good comments made about how the TWU has taken the lead and went out in force to discuss some of the issues on the work floor and to talk about some of the problems the membership have.

The members showed Strong Solidarity and are Unified in the effort to-ward-off any outside influence and are geared up to discuss some of the issues we are facing and some of the concerns we will be facing in the future. I was proud to see how informed the members have become and confirmed that they stand firmly behind the efforts of the TWU.

Many of the members who were miss-guided during the turbulent times this year have confirmed the card they signed means they were upset and have indicated they would not vote for anybody but the TWU!!!!!

In Solidarity, :rolleyes:

You need to visit the rest of the base. The whole membership is not the machinists at the center / East side of the Turbine building.......

Buck(Larry),
People HAVE been all over the base. Maybe you should wake up! There has been a great response from the membership to the TWU’s efforts. There is NO question that the membership is quickly tiring of you AMFA boy’s rhetoric. Frankly, it’s the same old song and dance for you guys and it’s not getting any better! I think what is getting everyone all hacked of is that you guys preach, “the lay-offs are betterâ€, yet YOU are still here! What’s wrong Buck, can’t find a better job? Ultimately, PEOPLE KNOW, A VOTE FOR AMFA IS A VOTE TO OUTSCOURCE OUR WORK!!!

7797 Total Signed Election Authorization Cards by Station and Title Group (From system seniority list dated 02-12-2003):

48.1% of our Craft and Class.

1.9% more needed to file or about 1 card per day.

11.9% to the goal or 7 cards a day systemwide. So far they have averaged over 40 cards a day.

Tick, Tock, Tick, Tock

CIO, you must be talking to your imaginary friends again. Face facts. There will be an election against the twu. The twu will lose. Now tell me again why we should stay with the twu.

Hello Everyone,

The membership is continuing on a roll today with the positive comments on the TV and on the floor. It is great to see the T-shirts coming off and the base is getting back to being normal. I would not be surprised to see the wantabes try and stir things up and cause havoc on some minor issue but that is life and life will go on!

The members were impressed by the professionalism of the TWU during the meetings last Friday even after being kicked out! I understand the amfa members from the system came down and enjoyed the spacious room the Local rented for the refreshments and snacks that were available for all! It was great.

It was thoughtful of the local,and no one was turned away! the TWU even allowed videos to be taken of the room. It is kind of odd though the TWU was not allowed to video during the meetings, but durng the Horizon drive amfa was allowed to bring their equipment in, looks like a pattern to me? Democracy you have to wonder!

----------------------------------------------------------

Paine, I hate to break your bubble but amfa has been here several times before and has failed to call an election?

Why? Numbers are always Inflated! To make it appear their is more cards signed and to make it appear the intesest is greater than it is!

Why do you think they want 60% of the members to sign cards? It is not because of the rhetoric they were spewing at the meetings!

NOW leadership desides to ask questions and discuss problems on the floor?
Didn't see any leaders in my shop. NOT ONE! O, yep I remember some one did bring in a MIS-Informer...
Did any one see any leadership discuss any issues on the "work floor"?
The lead that people talk of in my shop is the Industry LEADing lose we suffered.

Make sure you guys gear up real well.
I am confident there is going to be a debate. And the last debate AMFA/TWU had...well... TWU lost. You know... at Horizon.
I"ll be distributing the video of the AMFA MEETING as soon as I get my hands on it. Keep putting out the f-LIERS. I'll need them for distribution with the video's.
Keep up the good work CIO. :D

Superside,

The video you’re talking about? It will not go any place especially the fact it was one sided and the TWU was denied the same privileges they extended to you in the past!

CIO,
Why does it take an AMFA meeting to get the TWU mobilized? Why does it take AMFA distributing literature to get the TWU off of its heals? Even during the concessionary talks, it was very hard to find good information on the union boards. Nobody came around during those times to distribute information at the gates or anywhere. When the concessionary meeting finally arrived, everything was already set in stone. :blink:

What if the card numbers are deflated? OH damn? PANIC!!!! :shock:

CIO, you asked:

If you had been there you would know why. Because of what the IAM did at United and what TWU will do to inflate the number required to call for an election. The TWU will petition the NMB to add the dock planners, schedulers, etc.
to the count for the mechanic and related. A group that the TWU wouldnt try to organize on their own. So they are just beating you to the punch. This is called being prepared. Something the TWU is not. :unsure:

You've been spewing and spinning this same crap since the card count was 6000. Now it's 7800 and you're LOOSING YOUR MIND. Will you still be proclaiming TWU Solidarity when we file? Oh yeah, I forgot the numbers are inflated. We really only have 17 cards signed system wide. You obviously didn't hear this conversation between the 514 VP and a member yesterday:
McD: Say brother, you know the TWU is working hard to bring back more jobs to Tulsa.
Unnamed member: Great, what's THAT going to COST ME?

Go Comrad CIO. :down:

Take your corporate welfare supporting butt go away.

I think you are giving the dark side way to much credit!!!! :down:

The TWU local 514 is great about getting information out to the members, It is you who suggest otherwises.

Thanks to the great efforts of many and the involvement in the political process the Local and members have a lot to be proud of!

Randy and sevearal of the officers repeatedly went to our elected officials and were successful at keep work and jobs in Tulsa. Now the efforts will be paying off.

It is easy to set back in the smoke boxes and complain like so many of the mis-guided Individuals you are! It is something else to go forward and do something about it!

All you have to do, is be positive, think positive, react positive and positive things will happen!

From CIO;
"Paine, I hate to break your bubble but amfa has been here several times before and has failed to call an election?"

Response;
True, but I suppose thats what the IAM thought over at United where they still get full pay for sick time, 2.5 for holidays etc.

From CIO;
"Why? Numbers are always Inflated! To make it appear their is more cards signed and to make it appear the intesest is greater than it is!"

Response;
You are obviously in denial. When you get back to the floor you may try use the trick that people use for pain management, just make believe that you are still in the TWU and hold an International position.

From CIO;
"Why do you think they want 60% of the members to sign cards? It is not because of the rhetoric they were spewing at the meetings!"

Response;
I dont know what they were "spewing" but the idea of "aim high" when setting goals is not something new, its the norm. The company obviously aimed high when they wanted thier concessions, they must have been shocked when they got exactly what they wanted! Non-union workers for the company did not give up as much! Our contract gave non-union DELTA the ability to cut wages and benifits more than they otherwise could have gotten away with! Its a sad state when Union companies drive down the wages and benifits of non-union companies.

The reason that we heard for the 60% goal is because of the cooperation that existed between United and the IAM in order to keep AMFA out where they added many workers to the list who were not in the Union. I suspect that come March, even if they only have 55% they will file, and you will be back on the floor by next Summer, that is if you dont try to jump into management. After all they owe you for giving them the lowest labor costs in the industry right?

I think that the only "inflation" of the numbers has to do with the fact that they are using an old seniority list.

7844 cards signed

78.4% to the goal

48.4%, only 1.6% more to meet the minimum required for an election with six months left before cards start expiring.

Tick Tock Tick Tock
