If one wanted to be nitpicky, one could say that UAL is looking at opportunities for expansion rether than contraction.....

"Chief Financial Officer Jake Brace said the bankruptcy filings this week of Northwest Airlines and Delta Air Lines could open opportunities for United."

Strongest only because some investors inserted a boat load of cash. Can US sustain it? Doubtful if their first endeavor is to buy something with no value.

We don't actually keep posting to dispel your "insider" info, it's more fun to just prove how uninformed you really are.

By the way, I wonder why US Airways is building its cash position, which will be one of the strongest, if not the strongest in the industry, for an airline of its size?

Because without it, HP/US would be unable to buy enough fuel at $2+/gal to see it thru this winter.

If the report about TED and its assets being sold is not true, then why are the United employees expending so much energy on the US Airways board trying to dispel it? Why waste the time?
I think this time I'll quote somebody else:

Because if comments by idiots go unchallanged people may believe the unchallanged statement could be correct.
And BTW, I'll tell you once again that I'm not a United employee. It must be painful for you to comprehend that folks from airlines other than United (in this case, US Airways' imminent merger partner), as well as people that don't even work for any airline, can see through your nonsense.

Fly:

I disagree. The only reason you and your colleagues are posting on the US Airways board is that like "Project Minnow" and the "ICT", you're afraid my reports may come true and that scares you even more. Again, if my reports have no merit, why waste the time coming over th the US Airways message board. Why not focus on yor company?

In regard to United CFO Jake Brace, I happen to agree that the Northwest bankruptcy could open up some Pacific rim opportunities for United, but then again, how many times has he and Glenn Tilton been wrong about Untied's emergence from bankruptcy.

LOL....right, that's EXACTLY what were afraid of. (I'd be more afraid if I had to spend a 5 day trip with you as the bunky, sniffing around the galley, and talking to me.)

They ARE focussing on their company -- it's just that the discussion is taking place on the US Airways board at the moment. Are you enlightened now?

Cosmo:

Why don't you go talk to United ALPA officials and ask them what they have heard about United selling TED assets, and for that matter, other's too. If you do not want to believe me, then ask United ALPA officials.

Go focus on United with United ALPA officials or have United employees do it.

Regards,

USA320Pilot

P.S. I read very, very little of your posts and simply skim them, so do not be offended if I do not respond to your comments. Normally I find them off-base and not germane to the discussion.

Ted flies primarily vacation/leisure routes deemed not worthy of UA mainline service, with single class A320s.

Are A320s currently in short supply? Are they really all that desirable? Is the new HP/US really that desperate to fly TED routes?

I've been a critic of both UA and HP/US management, but I can't believe either group is stupid enough to seriously discuss the sale/purchase of TED's assets.

FWAAA:

I agree with your logic and I cannot understand why it's being discussed, but it is, not only in Arlington, Elk Grove Township, and Tempe, but on Wall Street too. Will it happen? I do not know. Is it being actively discussed by interested parties? Yes.

Meanwhile, US Airways keeps on building its cash position and next week the new company will be free to enter into a corporate transaction without court or creditor interference.

USA320Pilot:

Since I'm not a pilot and don't work for United, I don't usually have access to United ALPA officials, and I wouldn't expect to. But I'll take the word of someone who does have such access:

Not germane? I don't see other folks contradicting my posts in this thread, just yours. And if you don't like the fact that I don't agree with your thoughts on where the airline industry in general, or United and US Airways in particular, are headed, that's too bad.

Here's a news flash -- you're not the only person on this forum with experience and contacts in the airline industry. You just happen to be the only one that regularly flaunts it.

Cos, more likely he is one of the few WITHOUT credible contacts.... 🙄

Let's see, Flyi is about to liquidate, and NWA is rejecting the leases on a few jets out right (including at least 1 CFM engined 320), yet AWA wants to buy a bunch of 156 seat IAE 320's from UAL and fly them as "ted" LMAO.

Dude,
If the rules are applied uniformly, then you are getting suspended for 24 hours and the above post will be removed, I got sent to the cornfield last week for using the above moniker with a different meaning, then again if people got suspended for making posts full of false and ignorant info, USA320 PILOT would never be allowed to post here again....

See you tomorrow

I was wrong when I previously discussed the United and US Airways ALPA fragmentation clause, where I thought both companies provided their pilots the same 15% fragmentation protection. In regard to the United ALPA contract, which I just reviewed, it is different than the US Airways pilot contract. The US Airways ALPA contract has 15% fragmentation protection, but United's has only 25%. Chapter 1, Scope & Recognition, paragraph 1.F.1 of the United ALPA contract states (paraphrased) that if 25% ore more of the company's block hours or revenue are sold, then the Transferree must offer employement to qualified pilots from the United Pilots' Seniority List.

Obviously, TED or the A320s would represent less than 25% of the company's block hours or revenue.
