Maintenance backing up?

<_< ----- In fact, I've heard they're having a hard time scrounging up enough people to work the North American "C" check coming in to MCI shortly. They say they're short at least eight Inspectors, and are talking to the Union to make "temporary" Inspectors from those who have been reduced within the last two years. I'd be surprised if this floats, even with the TWU!

I think that over the next few years the company is going to find it harder and harder to scrounge up people. Sure they may get their concessionary contract because the guys are so desperate but they've already exhausted the 300 guys on the recall list for NY1, they got less than 20 to return, and a large percentage have their transfers in to Dallas and other stations. And even if they do get enough to show up, getting them to produce is another story.

Patience, people patience. If the company accepts the June sellout in November we must vote "NO". We've weathered this for so long it would be a shame to sell out now. The company has already revealed that they have more work than they can handle for the next two years and the TIMCOs etc are already having trouble finding enough people to handle what they have. If the FAA reauthorization act passes it could also help our bargaining position.

We are #5 in pay, this agreement will put us at the bottom before it runs its course. Continental is in negotiations now, United comes up in December, both are IBT. Historically they are more agressive, the IBT usually tries to bring all their members under similar terms and they also represent UPS mechanics who are tops in the industry, they are even above SWA(who used to be IBT). Their non-pay proposals at Continental are way, way better than anything we ever asked for and they have to prove to the mechanics at UAL that they are better than AMFA or UAL will give them the boot like they did to both the IAM and AMFA. Time is on our side. I know we are hungry but we shouldn't sell the field for the seed.

<_< ----- Don't think so, we haven't done a heavy check on AA metal in quit a while, but than again, I've been gone for almost a year now.----- What's going on with N335AA?
N335AA was just in at AFW and it was ate up nose to tail with corrosion. I started asking for OT on day 3 of 20. We just could not believe the amount of corrosion we found developed between heavy checks. We produced about 7 days late due to the corrosion and the crappy weather that kept us from flying. To be honest I was going to rip MCIE for doing a "spray can overhaul". That would have been misplaced anger. My real disgust lies with the lapdog union and a company that thumbs their nose at hard working employees. I have 20 years in and 25 to go til I`m 65 so I`m less than optomistic about my future. Call this an "olive branch" MCI. I still believe the TWA purchase was a mistake but don`t take it personally. Enjoy your retirement I fear I shall never have one. Out

<_< -----Like I said hog, we haven't done a heavy check on AA metal in quit some time. ----- And the purchase of TWA, at the time, neither one of us had any say in it! You have to take it in context with what was going on in the Industry at the time. ----- Looking back on it now, yea! It may have been a mistake for AA! And the TWA Unions did have other things in the works at the time. If they would have panned out, or not, we'll never know! But one thing I've got to say here is that AA through away Million $$$ in potential TWA resources after they bought us! And no matter how you try and spin it, that's a fact!!!

To get off the beat and track here for a second,
I was looking at the the present and future dock plan for Tulsa and if there is any truth to it for whats to come, It seems to me there is no place for an A300 return lease line, every single dock is occupied for months can anyone elaborate on this? Maybe I'm missing something when I'm looking at the plan  ,
Is there going to be a shuffle of work moved around within Tulsa in the near future to accommodate the A300 lines?'

<_< ---- What about that new tent of yours?
They both will be occupied for a long time, look's like they will be working on 757 Maui mods for what i can see....The whole base is occupied for a couple of years if not a few years.... So I'm definitely puzzled ???????

Me too. I keep wondering why we are bargaining like saving jobs is the number one priority when AA will be looking for mechanics.

The 2003 layoffs are finally catching up on them (AA) .
Plus all the work that they put on the back burner is now coming due, so once again they went to far, AA expects us AMT's to kick it up a notch and save there behinds now.

And they expect us to do it for $10/hr less than SWA!! Like thats going to happen!!

Hopefully, the company is finding out no one wants to work for the pay, benefits, and working conditions they are offering. Look at all the people like me who turned down the recall not just once but multiple times. But then again, I wouldn't hold my breath.

Unfortunately Joe, that will be the very excuse they need to begin the outsourcing Centrepork wants.

AMR has no intent of keeping their maintenance in country and is only waiting for the mechanics to hang themselves in order to initiate the outsourcing Horton is on record of favoring - with finance running the airline and Horton being HMFNIC of finance, guess who's going to get what they want?

Little and company will continue to be paid off by the corporation as now and the membership will be advised to take further concessions in order to keep the employment up (and the dues "contributions" steady). God forbid Little Jimmy and company take a cut in pay.
