M and R negotiations

how come the sfo and lax folks have to travel to la to attend union for ual i think its ual union that the sfo is lumped in with lax

Also members in Orlando are forced to be in the Miami local and IAD members are forced to be members in NY.

that does not make sense your working in one city but youre in a local of whole other city or in iad case a state whats wrong with that pic

At previous airlines, and at my current, we have locals in certain cities. Not every station has their own local, however there are local (at every station) meetings held. I don't know how it's done for UAL, but why don't they have their own local like the UPS guys? I wasn't a big fan of the IAM structure either.

I don't understand the need for a three tier structure like the IAM.

Local lodge is a number of stations (or work locations) and can include several different employers.

District lodge directly negotiates and enforces the CBA with elected officials and appointed AGCs.

Grand Lodge is the PR machine "face of the IAM". Maintains the cohesiveness of the locals/DLs and supports with education and training.

Did they invent another layer to the cake to create more appointed positions and decentralize control and accountability? Sure seems that way.

Which local lodge are the UA cargo employees under? Oh wait...

Not off topic.

So if you are the champion of the IAM explain the need for a three tiered structure. Why does the IAM need so many departments/territories? There is a lot of space that they put to use in the glass palace (it looks like a stunning facility). How does three levels support the membership better than two?

Say what you want about the IBT but the IAM does the exact same thing. Instead of taking the worst from the UA ramp agreement, UA PCE, CO IBT agreemdnt and Fly to Win handbook they should have taken the best of both and unsourced cargo at the sUA hubs, not outsourced at sCO on a whim.

SWA,

It is true, the company told the Mediator they dont want to meet as they dont know who the certified representative of the Mechanic and Related group will be.

They havent met since May.

Thank the IBT for that.

The IAM never got us any thing close to what the IBT got UAL when we merged with AWA!
We did not even get a large enough raise to cover the cost of living each year or a buyout or signing bonus. They gave away our profit share.

THE IBT GOT UAL THIS AND WE GOT IAM SCREWED!
A $75,000 buyout and an $11,500 signing bonus
• Regained over 80% of what was lost under concessionary bankruptcy language and back at
the table to achieve further improvements
• Stronger scope language:
• No-Furlough clause for the duration of the agreement
• No outsourcing that would result in a furlough
• Average 15% all in rate increase
• Increase in line premium, longevity pay and shift pay
• Double time rate for OT implemented
• 1.5 times paid for training before and after shift and for travel outside of shift to attend training
• Strengthened grievance process
• Hours of Service improvements
• Missed paid lunch at OT rate
• Moving expenses with $12,000 cap
• Increased longevity pay to maximum $1.00 after 12 years
• Run-taxi premium of $1.00 per hour paid for each shift where
tech does this work
• Cost of Living Committee formed to study the cost-of-living for SFO, SEA, ORD, DEN, DCA
• Per diem $1.95 domestic; $2.50 international
• Lead and Inspector premium of 5% above technician rate
• Field trip hours paid at 1.75 times the rate for all time-away-from-base/station.

WE DO GET THE IAM AND AMFA SMEAR CAMPAIGN THAT COMES FROM TWO FAILED UNIONS FOR FREE AND THAT COMES WITH ALL THE LIE'S TWISTING OF THE TRUTH AND MISLEADING YOU CAN STAND.

ITS TIME FOR A CHANGE! VOTE IBT OR GET MORE OF THIS.

4 lines of c-check, everything else outsourced.

UA mechanics on layoff, while CO is hiring.

No pension for the UA mechanics.

Highest percentage of outsourced work.

Half or UA members in SFO forced to be members in LAX.

MCO members forced to be members at MIA.

IAD members forced to me members at LGA.

SEA, PDX, HNL all members in LAX, how do they attend local lodge meetings and have a voice in their union?

$4 million oversight every year cause of the criminal corruption in the ibt.

No seniority agreement between CO and UA, and its going on four years with no JCBA.

Aircraft Movement at hubs given to the ramp for one holiday back without membership vote.

And last but not least:

IBT Corruption From the Top down:

Dave Beck President, 1952-1957: Veck was prosecuted for embezzlement and labor racketeering in 1959 in Washington state. He was convicted for pocketing $1,900 from the sale of a union-owned Cadillac. Beck was convicted later that year on federal charges of income-tax evasion.

James Hoffa, President, 1957-1971: Hoffa became involved with organized crime from the early years of his Teamsters work, and this connection continued until his disappearance in 1975. He was convicted of jury tampering, attempted bribery, and fraud in 1964. Hoffa was imprisoned in 1967, and sentenced to 13 years.

Frank Fitzsimmons, President, 1971-1981: Fitzsimmons was investigated in 1976 for failing to perform his fiduciary duties as trustee of the Teamsters' Central States Pension Fund and forced to resign from the board of trustees in 1977. Fitzsimmons testified in public and private regarding loans the pension fund made to certain mob-related businesses and the fund's operations.

Roy Lee Williams, President, 1981-1983: After a two-month trial during which extensive wiretapping evidence was heard, Williams and four others were convicted on December 15, 1982 for conspiring to bribe Nevada Senator Howard Cannon. He He was sentenced to 55 years in prison on March 31, 1983.

Jackie Presser, President, 1983-1988: Jackie Presser, along with his father and Teamsters President Frank Fitzsimmons, became informers for the federal government in 1972. Presser had been indicted by the federal government on bribery, embezzlement and other charges.

Ron Carey, President 1991-1998: The Carey campaign had engaged in an illegal donation kick-back scheme to raise more than $700,000 for his 1996 re-election effort. His re-election was overturned, Carey was disqualified from running for Teamsters president again, and he was subsequently expelled from the union for life.

James L Hoffa, President, 1998-present: Major issues with widespread corruption within the IBT. And just ordered to explain his bribery attempts to win the current re-election to IBT President.

Is this what you want to lead your union?

Yea they can now blame the ibt for their delays, but only at the start date that they filed for an election. But who do you blame for the stalling up to this date? And it took tremendous pressure from the US/IAM membership to force the IAM to finally ask to be released, when they should have asked a long time ago. I know you are loyal to the IAM, just as I am with AMFA. I have never been represented by IAM, but I do know how they are ran as well as their by-laws and constitution. I also know how they over pay the officers. Other than these reasons, I would still "WRITE-IN" AMFA, or at least stay IAM until after merger, however, I would much rather have AMFA as my representational union during the integration nego's as the membership (mechanics) control them not National Officers from other work groups. A mechanic ran union will look out for the very best interest of all mechanics as a whole.
