Layoffs in PHX

Thanks. Looks like they would be new hires, drug test and all that comes with it except for probation, and get placed on pay step in accordance their occupational seniority from AA. They would have a new hire seniority date until the integration, JCBA, and regain their previous occupational seniority after integration. Thanks for the post. Its on the 591 website if anyone wants to view it.
You're welcome. The main thing is that I hope it helps for anyone who needs to make a tough decision.

At least there is an option, not best but still an option. I know guys displaced from AFW that would have leaped at that option if it applied to them.

There have been some people who have posted on Facebook about their experience in other places and how that's been working out so far. Mostly it's been pretty positive and they say that the other group has been treating them well.

If you know anyone in particular who needs some more questions answered, send me a PM and I can maybe get you in touch with the right individuals who can answer those questions? My contacts are mainly in Fleet but I'm sure they'd get you over to the guys who handle maintenance.

I would think that if your only other options are JFK and LGA that would be your move but it still sucks.  I'm getting the impression this is only a taste of things to come.

Watched the town hall from PHX today and an AA AMT said that 4 AA AMTs were being laid off but US Air was hiring 40 AMTs.  They said the AA AMTs were offered spots at US Air but I'm guessing it would be as a new hire and they would have to give up all their seniority.  They said since there are two different unions on the property they cannot keep the AA guys and hire less US Air guys since we can't work on theirs and they can't work on ours.  Thanks IAM for refusing to do the right thing and step away.  I'm also guessing the PHX guys who get laid off get their choice of JFK or LGA.  Anyone know any particulars?

One thing i can tell you is that they may be day one employees but most likely will get their pay until JCBA. Then the IAM way is to give seniority during integration. I can attest to the right thing as some unions don't care and make you " Red Tagged" employees. i.e. AA/AirCal twa etc.....

"They said" is always the preamble to a half truth. After closing PHX, US FSC were working on AA metal, meanwhile clerks with 28-30 years had to get out of Dodge. Sec.3 Art H lines 28-34, is for the FSC, and I'm willing to bet a shiny new silver dollar the the same provision is in the mechanics CBA,

Aircraft MX isn't staffed by departures. MX has been dropped many times from stations while FSC stayed.

AirCal carried their seniority...had plenty come in and bump me down in Dallas.

Do a search on the net. It's all out there, in writing. You just have to put it together. If you're smart enough? It's all there.
Why do you always belittle everyone?

Ya think?  Looks like they might just take little nibbles here and there.  Try to keep the masses from getting out of control.

At Aircal, no matter what classification you started in, your final occupational seniority date was based on your initial hire-in date. That was adjusted during the AA/Aircal Merger. Aircal employees were given a Seniority date based on the application of AA Occupational Title Group Seniority rules.
