Thank you NYer.
Just a note, "when and where directed" applied to 85 stations in 1999 when we got our first iam contract. 50 stations were immediately outsourced after we went union.

I agree. Everyone should call to get the info of what's up. Whatever you guys do, don't put it out here what the plan is. Wait until after it happens to post what all is planned. I just have one question, what was the original date for the picketing in Chicago? At least I know what date to look around at for what's going on. Good luck to you guys. Hope it turns out well for ya.
Certain people call but are not invited. That proves Peterson as a liar in his video. Disappointed. Btw, we know what the surprise is now and its really no big deal. Not sure what the fuss was all about?

Tim, I think that your numbers are a bit inflated. Not saying that we didn't lose that amount, but more than half were years into our contract. I'm sure that we lost roughly 25 in 2005 when our beloved IAM threw them under the bus in favor of catering. If LUS does lose catering with a new CBA, the IAM will take another hit on the chin. I'm not putting much into the scope hype of today, because it doesn't address any of the work that has been lost previously. Grasping to hold onto what work you have in good times, doesn't impress many.

Grasping to hold onto what work you have, especially in good times, doesn't impress many I agree. However, the importance of protecting existing work is something that has eluded the IAM, for many years at both UA and LUS. The existing LUS Scope language with our most recent agreement was finally a move in the right direction regarding this issue. The company wanted JCBA talks to begin and knew it could not be accomplished until they reached an agreement with Fleet on the LUS side whose BK contract was beyond the amendable date. They signed off on the current language, and kicked the can down the road on this issue, to the JCBA talks. Now they are back again. Attacking Scope. Wanting to outsource work with both the Fleet and Maintenance bargaining units. Even during these prosperous times and forecasted record profits. I would be impressed if the Association can at least stop the hemorrhaging of existing protected work at the table. IMO... Giving away protected work, especially in the current environment, goes against the very principles of organized labor.

BTW... After reading the letter the company put out, regarding their comprehensive proposal back in July, it is evident "industry leading" is how you interpret it. This should be evident to all (MTC. and Fleet). They actually believe this is a great "industry leading" comprehensive proposal. They would love for us to take it. Unfortunately, there are some who would have signed it, had it been brought back in July. I hope everyone considers the duration of a potential JCBA. Depending on the duration; we could be under these terms for 5-7 years. Effectively locked down. They realize this. I hope the membership realizes this too. Let's get it right.
L&L!

So Parker claims that our catering peeps really arent as good as the pros that cater us in ord? Really?
Well, those catering pros in ord just gave parker a letter and are planning to strike tomorrow.

Nowhere did I see in that letter where they stated they were going to strike.

I would also like to know where they get off asking another company, who is not their employer, to earmark money for their benefit. If American Airlines money is going to provide anyone a benefit it should be to it's employees, not contractors. It is in especially bad taste when we are in the middle of contract negotiations of our own in which healthcare is a hot button topic.

I would also like to point out this section of the letter.

Come January, we will be forced to pay the Obama Care Income Tax Fine for declining to purchase this unaffordable insurance. In the years to come, the fine will only grow, until some of us are paying the equivalent of an entire month’s pay—or more—in fines. We feed your crew and passengers, but we’re too poor to pay for even lousy insurance. We’re too poor to pay penalties, too. As a result, our medical bills pile up and drive our families further into poverty.

They can thank the Democrats for that one.

Its pretty close to 50. We ended up losing over 50. Closer to 60. Then AMW we got 15 stations plus atl back. I t.v. hink we were down to 14 stations and 3900 agents.

The Excise tax was rolled back by congress until 2019 or 2020. Trump's new health care agenda, in the house and senate proposes elimination for most taxes for companies. And scales back the excise tax until 2025. So, leverage goes to the union since the excise tax isn't immanent anymore.

That's kind of what I thought. So sad. I figured it was a delay tactic by the union to keep the peeps in a settled position and not going nuts on the canceled picketing. Hmmmm.

Any negotiator who ends up giving up our LUS health care should be fired. Period. Especially if the benefit is liquidated in the dumb arse IAM pension plan which is going to get whacked within the next 4-16 months. And, if catering is gone, I don't want any BS on here that "We haven't lost the jobs".

Thank God there are elections next year for the District and International. Doesn't mean we don't have a couple good District officers. We do, but elections keep things accountable.

I'm not sure what the surprise is gonna be, but I thought to date the picketing was very impressive. I don't know that anything will convince AA to negotiate in good faith short of a job action, but to me it reminds me of the old saying "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". I hope this "Historic" event will change the tide of negotiations, or at least show the support the picketing was doing.

I thought you already said Tim that Catering was NOT gone?!?!
