IBT/UAL contract rejection, what does it mean to us at AA?

A percentage determined by what they negotiate for their members?
Agreed. And you should be paid comparable to what the costs are for the company if they farm out your work to a Third World Country.

And you can also tell the Union to beat it because you know that the company is going to pay you a fair wage for the maintenance of their aircraft. You'll make a little more than your El Salvadorian counterpart because they'll want to keep the work in house to maintain quality control but not much.

What do you think?

Darn. Have to get rid of those pesky minimum wage laws here in the US.

You know something. You're right. Their paychecks are bloated. And so are YOURS. If your paycheck wasn't bloated then these airlines wouldn't be outsourcing your jobs all over the world. My paycheck is bloated as well. I make double the average so I guess I'm also a hypocrite if I speak up that I'm not being paid what I think I deserve right?

One of the biggest areas airlines can cut costs is maintenance. Consider this: If an airline fixes its own planes in the U.S., it spends up to $100 per hour for every union mechanic, including overhead and other expenses, according to industry analysts. The airline spends roughly half as much at an independent, nonunion shop in America. And it spends only a third as much in a developing country, such as El Salvador.

So maybe it's time we stop fighting the truth what do you say? You guys are paid too much and we should send every job we can over to El Salvador and the rest of you that need to work here should take more cuts to be in line with the MRO's?

What do you say. Want to join me in agreeing to help the company earn more profits?

If only it was that simple.  Get to know  the Federal Aviation Regulations - specifically part 121.  AA has its hands full maintaining its own aircraft maintenance department domestically with people who can actually read the maintenance manuals, and speak English.  Airlines will claim they are saving a bunch by sending their aircraft to third world shite holes to be maintained by people that (in a lot of cases) wouldn't pass a background check.  My brother that used to work at NWA, liked to tell me about their 747s coming out of heavy check in China.  Once it got back state side, they had to spend as much as two weeks repairing the half assed work acomplished in the commie sweatshop.  Kinda gives you the warm fuzzies knowing some random third worlder fresh off his prayer rug was in the nether regions of the aircraft you or one of your loved ones could be flying on.

Are you serious? You're kidding me with this crap right? You are waaaaaayyyyyyy overpaid. Here I'll solve the problem. Ship off any and all maintenance that can be done overseas as soon as possible. Raise the rates paid to those third party vendors and demand that they follow those FAA guidelines. Now petition the Government in El Salvador to agree to a guest worker program and since there are no more jobs here for you guys it will force you to go down there. Your license is for Airplanes not anything else so what choice are you going to have? And to give you further reason to be forced to move I say raise your pay to the USA minimum wage of $7.25 per hour. It's a damn good wage over there?

I can imagine the screams now that you'd never go. BS. Of course you'd go. Most of you when you take away that Mechanics license are only High School grads yourselves. See here's the proof. $7.25 per hour and you'd be living like kings.

I really think that the airline industry should do this. 100%. It's ridiculous paying you guys what you want. Stupid as a matter of fact. The only thing that is stopping it is those stupid Unions and that assinine RLA. They need to abolish the RLA and ship your arses out.

Welcome to the NEW and improved me. I'm a Walmart shopping, Chinese buying, Trump supporting convert.

And keep giving me those red marks you clowns. I eat them up like a starving Dog. Woof, Woof.

Weassles I ran out of negative votes and leave my man Trump out of it. I hope the wall keeps work in the US
Have to get the Mechanics out before the wall comes up though. Take away their flight benefits as well so they can't afford to fly back.

We'll keep the Mexicans.

Better do it quick Trump said he's going to have Carl Ichan negotiate the country's trade pacts.
Good. Carl is an expert at getting rid of overpaid mechanics. I'm going to send him an email asking for his help.

You clearly have never worked in an open shop, the non-members DONT pay and have to be represented by law by the union, do you not grasp this concept?  And they dont pay, I have been in two open shops, one with the UAW and another with the BCGTM, they dont pay and enjoy working under the benefits of a CBA and representation.

Do you want to keep changing the topic and throwing everything but the kitchen sink at the topic? (red herrings)

Not an expert on why unions are at only 13% nationwide, but maybe it has to do with the right attacking unions since Reagan and the PATCO strike, did you do anything to help them?

No members money was stolen, and the misuse of spending of monies were replaced, and those responsible should be held to liable in every way.

Teamcare has nothing to do with AA, as no one is represented by the IBT (another red herring by you).

And unionism is about everyone, not just a few, and yes a union's goal is to keep as money people employed at the highest standards possible, but 9/11, Gulf Wars and SARS had nothing to do with what happened right?

And what union at UA is throwing a B-Scale in negotiations? (another red herring by you).

Get your mindset out of the concessionary bargaining mode.

why to you demean people . i tell you what I'm tired of paying union dues and a non union airline makes more money has profit sharing more vacation more sick days. and they do not lose a half day of pay on there first sick day. i am tired of rude people like you mr know it all. im tired of watching other airline mechanics making over 10 dolors more a hour then us and all the association can do in a month is talk about uniforms and  bulletin boards. tramcare iampf same difference another union program to make them money and screw the members.quit blaming wars sars what is has to do with is greedy unions and them getting dues money. people are waking up that might the reason the 13 percent nation wide. plus people like you and w being rude and condescending to people dose not help . both of you give the iam and twu a worst name then they already have . and the contract means nothing in 03 the company wanted to change contract for pay and benefit cuts twu opened it up. when the times are good the company want open the contract to add pay and benefits. the twu should not off either.

Ever think that maybe it's because you complain so much that it's as if you think you have the worst life that anyone could ever have imagined on the face of the Earth?

It's a little pathetic if that's what you think. Man you have it so much better than so many others that they'd kill to have your little problems.

Well WeAAsles, if they're paying third world mechanics $2 an hour....They must be paying baggage handlers $.50 an hour. I say we open up the flood gates and outsource YOUR work as well. You can deny it all you want, but you are certainly showing yourself to be anti mechanic. God forbid we speak, or in your words, COMPLAIN about our worthless union, it's ST. WEAASLES, the patron saint and defender of the TWU leadership to the rescue.
