IBT/UAL contract rejection, what does it mean to us at AA?

In an open shop unions are required to represent non-members free of charge,is that right?
I am sure there would be some that would not pay for services rendered if they feel the were not receiving proper treatment.

But you failed to answer again, you just gave an opinion

I looked over my original question and failed to see the word open ( shop ) anywhere.

Why is unionism at approximately 13% nationwide?  Instead stealing the members money out of the pensions the union leadership should concentrate on
repairing their image and attempt to recruit new members.

You and Weaasle are always pushing for unionism, which is ok, but why is it that the Industrial Multi Company pension unions are always corrupt or on the edge of corruption
and the membership is the loser? Why do the Industrial catchall unions feel like the membership wants anything like Team Care in the United contract? Change your tactics .

Recruit and use that leverage instead stealing from the membership, including the theory of keeping more jobs at the behest of a higher quality compensation contract.

Unionize more places and industries. The B-Scale at AA in 1983 and now being thrown in the memberships face at United.
not every m,ember is satisfied with the theory.

You clearly have never worked in an open shop, the non-members DONT pay and have to be represented by law by the union, do you not grasp this concept?  And they dont pay, I have been in two open shops, one with the UAW and another with the BCGTM, they dont pay and enjoy working under the benefits of a CBA and representation.

Do you want to keep changing the topic and throwing everything but the kitchen sink at the topic? (red herrings)

Not an expert on why unions are at only 13% nationwide, but maybe it has to do with the right attacking unions since Reagan and the PATCO strike, did you do anything to help them?

No members money was stolen, and the misuse of spending of monies were replaced, and those responsible should be held to liable in every way.

Teamcare has nothing to do with AA, as no one is represented by the IBT (another red herring by you).

And unionism is about everyone, not just a few, and yes a union's goal is to keep as money people employed at the highest standards possible, but 9/11, Gulf Wars and SARS had nothing to do with what happened right?

And what union at UA is throwing a B-Scale in negotiations? (another red herring by you).

Get your mindset out of the concessionary bargaining mode.

Transport Workers Union Stands with Members Across Airline Industry for Nationwide Day of Action

This Friday, TWU members will join with their brothers and sisters in the airline industry for a nationwide day of action organized by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters at airports across the country. Members will come together to protest the issues facing airline workers across all classes and crafts, shedding light on the poverty-level wages, grueling hours, and treacherous conditions they face in what many call “the new fast food industry.”

The day marks a massive show of solidarity across several employers, unions and industry hubs, and members are eager to come together to speak with one voice, and to stand up for more dignity and respect on the job. It’s a critical moment for movement unity as members from several unions find themselves in protracted contract battles with greedy airline employers.

“For far too long, these airline CEOs have been getting rich on the backs of every day working people. TWU is proud to stand with every union member every day,” said TWU International President Harry Lombardo. “We’re all in this together for our members: the people that keep America moving. But when airlines are raking in record profits and our people can’t put food on the table or send their kids to college, then something has to give. It’s time to stand up and fight back, together.”

TWU represents members at American Airlines, Southwest Airlines and Virgin America, as well as several smaller carriers including Envoy, Alaska Air, and Atlas Air/Flight Services International.

Ya gotta love the hypocrisy....... Did any of us have any say in the TWU international leadership salaries and benefits and other perks? Are their compensation packages not bloated as well? Anyone recall Jim Little's secretary getting paid DOUBLE what a mechanics was?

HYPOCRITES!

Negotiations Update:

One of the negotiators is currently in California visiting his father and I have no clue what the rest are doing but if you'd like I can make a few phone calls?

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Up in the thread people were saying that we should help the Mechanics at UAL and it appears the TWU is doing just that. Not sure what other (Mechanic Unions) are doing to help? Can we get an update on that please?

And I don't think Jim Little is still with the TWU? Don't know about his secretary, or brother, sister, mother, cousin or neighbor?

I'm not expecting any giant leaps in progress, I'll just wait, and scan here.

The point is I don't need Lombardo or any other union leader preaching about greedy CEO's getting rich. He makes a nice salary himself.. Nothing like a CEO, but not bad either. I bring up Jm Little because when he WAS here, it was public knowledge that his secretary made twice what a mechanic made. So before these union leaders throw stones, they should make sure they don't live in glass houses.

So you would rather as our official representatives and voices they just say nothing because they are making too much money for your tastes? Politicians also make a huge sum of money but aren't they supposed to represent their constituents? So if I hire a Lawyer who also makes much more than me, he shouldn't represent me?

You're not making any sense.

I'm making perfectly good sense, just not to you. Don't preach about corporate greed when they themselves pay themselves a bloated paycheck.
As for the politicians, I get to vote them in and I get to vote them out....Can't say the same for TWU APPOINTEES. As for that lawyer, I can hire him and fire him....Can't say the same for TWU APPOINTEES!

Income inequality at its finest. Time to start the income inequality movement and redistribute wealth from union leader/officials to its membership!!

Then just what would you consider fair pay for them?

You know something. You're right. Their paychecks are bloated. And so are YOURS. If your paycheck wasn't bloated then these airlines wouldn't be outsourcing your jobs all over the world. My paycheck is bloated as well. I make double the average so I guess I'm also a hypocrite if I speak up that I'm not being paid what I think I deserve right?

One of the biggest areas airlines can cut costs is maintenance. Consider this: If an airline fixes its own planes in the U.S., it spends up to $100 per hour for every union mechanic, including overhead and other expenses, according to industry analysts. The airline spends roughly half as much at an independent, nonunion shop in America. And it spends only a third as much in a developing country, such as El Salvador.

So maybe it's time we stop fighting the truth what do you say? You guys are paid too much and we should send every job we can over to El Salvador and the rest of you that need to work here should take more cuts to be in line with the MRO's?

What do you say. Want to join me in agreeing to help the company earn more profits?
