Dear Southwest AMFA Members:
Attached please find a Letter of Agreement (LOA) recently negotiated between AMFA and the
Company, which is in response to AMFA’s demand that the Company recognize the contribution
of AMFA-represented employees to Southwest’s success and the need for employment stability.
The LOA has been unanimously endorsed by the AMFA-Southwest Negotiating Committee and
will only take effect upon completion of the membership ratification process.
The LOA provides that:
No AMFA-represented employee on the seniority list as of January 1, 2011, will be
involuntarily displaced from his current station, bid location, shift or classification,
other than by another employee on the seniority list on that date pursuant to the CBA;and that, No AMFA-represented employee on the seniority list as of January 1, 2011, will be subject to either a furlough or a station-specific reduction in headcount prior to any
employee not on the seniority list as of January 1, 2011.
These protections extend to all AMFA-represented classifications at Southwest.
We encourage you to read the LOA, contact your local representatives with any questions, and
assist us with the speedy ratification of this important agreement.
Sincerely,
The AMFA Southwest Seniority Integration Committee
