IBT No Show Forum

As I stated previously.
Had you provided proof prior to your speculation, I would have not said much...
If you have such an 'inside track' on this, why did a UA person provide the link and not you?
As far as the ruling, it doesn't matter what I think. It's binding arbitration and both parties should be happy it's over.

xUT,
If I would have copied and posted what the ruling was going to be at the time that I had it, They would of known where it came from. Therefore I waited for someone I know to post it first. Really doesn't matter now. Just hope you will start taking my postings more serious. I do not spread false info. I have been wrong in the past and corrected any misinformation ASAP. Watch what happens with the rampers on June 1. The only thing that might change the ruling is if the one month delay has something to do with further nego or one of the 2 sides desided to come closer to an agreement.

XUT- I'd say ironic but yes I agree. It will be interesting if and when SWA buys Alaska and they are AMFA.

I will be voting for this agreement because it is in the range that I have always believed to be fair to us.

But I have to admit that I find it strange that now Avtech is trying to use the fear mongering on US to vote FOR a 4 year increase in our seniority over his fellow mechanics.

What a role reversal.

Not sure what you mean about a role reversal, I accepted the boost in seniority a long time ago.. As far as fear mongering, I see how my post could have been taken as fear mongering, but it wasn't my intention. I was simply putting a different perspective on what may happen if we were to go to arbitration, that it's not a guarantee for either AT mechs or SWA mechs, that we are a totally different scenario.

I was an advocate to arbitration long ago, before the negotiations ever began because of the non-response by AMFA during the card drive and the lack of motion on the IBT's side. I figured arbitration would set a guaranteed timetable to move things along, in a forward direction.

Now, since we've started negotiations, I believe resolving this on our terms would be in all of our best interest and am not advocating arbitration. Ever since, i've been more than willing to give a little seniority as a show of good faith to our SWA counter parts. If you re-call, I believed a reduction in seniority by 30% was a fair method to resolve our SLI issues, and a lot of you, including you WNMECH, agreed with me. Then you guys realized how a boost benefited you more than a reduction so you changed your mind from a reduction in % to a boost in %, but decided to change it yet again to a solid year # of 4 years.

After nearly a year of talking, we finally have a realistic TA to vote on. I can live with a 4 year boost. I'd be starting at SWA with more seniority than I would have if I would of left Airtran in 2011 and went to SWA....

That's how I came to terms of accepting the seniority change. If you guys, meaning SWA mechanics/AMFA, would've approached US, or at least me, with a 4 year offer from the beginning, but in a positive manner rather than a threatening one, then I believe this would've gone down a lot smoother and would've been done long ago.

What convinced me was, someone asked me, If SWA would've approached me before the acquisition and asked me to come work at SWA with my current seniority, at my current location and receive all the pay and benefits that my current seniority provided, and all I have to do is give the current SWA mechanics a 4 year seniority boost, would I do it... I had to answer yes of course, and that put things in a different perspective for me.

Like I said before, if someone from SWA would've approached me in that manner, I wouldn't of been only grateful, but willing. Unfortunately , that wasn't the case and we are where we are now, nearly a year later. But whatever.. What's done is done and now I just look forward to working along side all those willing to work along side of me.

Well, when SWA decides to make a move on Alaska, you'll already have a 4 year boost in your date of classification, so even going into negotiations, you'll already have 4 years more than what you would of started with. B)

No harm, no foul.
Let's see how the vote goes.

AVTech-- your right but don't forget we would fight for you and every other former AT mechanic and junior mechanic. And we once one group need to get another LOA in our contract that will include all SWA mechanics and former AT mechanics. Agreed?

I agree to everything, except for the LOA part. I will fight to the bitter end for a fair deal for our entire membership but that LOA to me is not a fair method. It is definitely a useful tool, but I don't believe in involving the company in union issues unless otherwise necessary. But I will agree to fight for a fair deal for all junior, senior, SWA or former AT mechs.

There is mechanics that is going to push to have it in the next contract well before the next buy out then it should be almost concrete! And I'm for that. But that is for another day! And if SWA buys Alaska I'll transfer and y'all can come to my cabin in the mountains and we can do it up silly for a week!

Is AVtech going to be invited to the cabin,,

You bring up a very interesting thought here. I'm not so sure that our boost in seniority will carry if SWA was to buy another airline. We do need to look into that though. Maybe WNMECH could elaborate on this. I think that if SWA did buy another airline, the integration of seniority would be nego once again, but I think it would be from our original seniority date and not our boosted seniority. However, I do not know this to be fact yet. Anyone else know for sure, please chime in.
I will agree with WNMECH that we need to get a new LOA in place in case SWA does buy another airline, and it will cover all mechanics after the merger of SWA and AT. I'm all for that...
In my opinion, if it were true that we kept our boosted seniority, then all the airlines out there would boost thier seniority just for that fact. But once again I don't know for sure.

Just reading thru the forum here, I have a quick question.
Are the WN AMT's saying that if/when they merge with another carrier they should get a 4year boost again?

Also wondering where WN will get the cash to "buy" a company that has a market cap of about 33% that of yours?

On another note, the dispatchers got 4 years through arbitration. Windfall was mentioned, and pay/benefits were taken into consideration. Regardless of this , I personally would like to be done with this and start moving forward as SWA, moving people safely, on time, and make some $$$.
