IBT No Show Forum

I do truly hope all of you Airtran guys realize what you're getting and decide to forgo your ego and jump on board. I would rather us all have no ill will and feelings toward each other, I've seen it at my previous employer and it was UGLY. But, I will say that if that is the route you choose, I WILL treat you as you deserved to be treated! YOU WON'T LIKE IT! I feel many other SWA mech's will be much the same as I.

YOUR CHOICE!

I tried to explain that we have way more protection in our AMFA contract than the FAs have in theirs.
If we get rid of the 717s or any reduction in aircraft, then FAs will be let go.

Not so for any mechanis under our contract. All outsourcing would have to return in house before a single AMFA represented mechanic could be let go.
Because of these very superior protections to the FAs, we are asking for more than the 2.5 years that our FAs got to receive the contract protections we fought hard for.

If they want to be FAs and be subject to layoff at the drop of a hat, fine.
If they want the solid protection our contract provides then it will be 4 years.

AGREED! They need to realize the sooner they are under OUR AMFA contract the more protected they are. Under our CBA, 717's go away they WILL NOT be layed off! Currently, 717's go away...well so do they!

Airtran mechanics will be so much better off under our contract, EVEN WITH A REDUCTION IN SENIORITY, than they are currently but none of us seem to be able to get them to see and understand that!

I'm truly am about tired of trying to get them to see this. I'm ready, and it's sad, for all out war and total hatred no matter the outcome!

I think what the 4 years will buy you, excluding the , pay , holidays , vacation, 401k, profit sharing, better benefits, is that 2/3 to 3/4 of your new co-workes wont have complete disdain for you.

Looks like the teamsters promised the moon again. Horizon mechanics voted to keep the teamsters. Thank you sir, may I have another! The beatings shall continue.

Some people do not have what it takes to represent themselves.
Those people will always be sheep and have someone else tell them what to do and what is best for them.
The AMFA system only works when members decide to step up and govern themselves.

I hear you loud and clear.

LOL, yeah good luck with that! Make sure the rest of your brothers want to take the long road! There are several AT mechs that came here and were sent back , where do they go to play at........... Your posts are definetly entertaining!, The comparison of VJ's purchase of AT , to the current situation is a hoot! Thanks for the laughs!!

You should reflect back closely at previous posts before spouting off. I had not posted the comparison of the VJ purchase of AT. I merely commented on a post by another member. And yes I do support that other members comment about Dove tailing the work groups. It is not fair and equitable to give up four years or give a boost.

Have another laugh on me a nervous laugh at that.

All your posts here seem to lecture SWA AMFA on what we need to do in your humble opinion.
You throw around that since you were once AMFA, then you know how we should do everything.
But you fail to see that your fantasy view of AMFA is not reality.
We are AMFA, Amfa national works for us.
They do not tell us what to do.
Because of the AMFA system, we are able to control our own future.

Nope, just posting my opinion.
Take it or leave it as you wish.

And your post was also ridiculous.

How so?

SWA will not stop any mergers or acquisitions because we mechanics stood up for ourselves.
On the contrary, they may next time consider our positions more and give us the same support shown our pilots before the next buyout.

Of course, that's our opinion. Maybe you should talk to SWA management to see if they share your hypothesis.

I am just saying, "don't do the same thing the 'legacies' have done".
It didn't work out so well for us....

Take Care,
B) xUT

Not fair and equitable? Your cmte thinks so. They were the ones that offered a boost in the beginning. And the IBT has also responded by a counter offer of 2.5 years boost countering AMFA's 4 yr boost. They have previously also offered a 70% boost. So it is, in fact, looking very fair for SWA mechanics to get a boost. Almost the entire membership has stated that 4 yrs is the lowest they will go. It is also my lowest that I would vote to accept. The final number of boost that we all vote on is yet to be seen. But I will say it will take the current offer of 4 yrs to have a chance to pass on the AMFA side.

In a case like this merger I wish we had a B scale for the oncomming company a top out of say $30. Then if they want to be on our A scale and receive our $44+ wage then they must be willing to take a 50% cut in there seniority. If that was the case I bet they all would take the hit and join the A scale! Espicially when there wives found out what they were loosing in pay. Anyway it's been fun reading.

The part of your post I found ridiculous was when you said Swa may stop another buyout because of AMFA.

Then your advice about us screwing up Swa and concentrating on pay and benefits was more lecture from an outsider.

We have done pretty well in that area by ourselves.

We will not follow legacy airlines.
We keep a low headcount, don't ask for lavish pensions that aren't paid for, and we do more with less.
Even though it appears to us that the company didn't back us like the pilots, we still have a good relationship and they seem to back us now.

I guess dovetail is stepping up to fill avtech's shoes.
I don't think he is Airtran.
He just registered that name to stir the pot.
Avtech even stated to sound reasonable in his last few posts after he spoke to his own people at work and realized they would have jumped at a chance to come here before the buyout was announced.

On another note.
I love your avatar.

It does appear so. However I remember AvTech04 said he was moving onto other forums. Since he has stopped posting here, there has be a rather good size up tick in postings on another forum called the-amt.com. Although they are all posted as anonymous posters. Can't tell for sure that any of them are from him, after reading thru them all, they sure do match his style attitude.
