IBT No Show Forum

Why add the field techs? Our field techs have been at SWA a long time and they don't want it. Also the more we add to our CBA the more we have to fight for during contract negotiations. It will basically take away from our negotiations. We need to keep our CBA a mechanics CBA.

I agree with your post. I was under the impression since them applying for union reprentation is included in the current TA, that they wanted it.

Yea right.
As soon as I said ok to 30% the next guy came on and said "no, I want 20-25%".
Sorry to say that since the increase in your compensation is 35% per your own union, and will not be going down to 30% or 25% or 20% or whatever number you want next, I will be pushing for 35% reduction in senority.

Why would we play any games?? AMFA has been spearheading this integration from the beginning with the support of their members and it got us to where we are now, voting on a COMPANY SLI and TA that no one really wants. I don't know what you think I'm trying to do here but it's not negotiations. I'm telling you the cut off that I am willing to support and vote for, as a show of faith to you guys so stop with the disrespectful assumptions and stop trying to be some kind of forum bully and think you've won something. We as Airtran are willingly giving up 30% and still you can't show a sign of appreciation or acceptance towards us for making this work, because you guys surely haven't helped in the least. We could be as assholeish as you and demand DOH and do the negotiation thing all over again and end up in arbitration or you can stop being an ass, take what we're offering and move on with our lives.

Like i said, this isn't a negotiation anymore, this will be the final offer take it or leave it. No what about this and what about that. This is more than enough given the circumstances.

And I don't care what "the next guy" says, for all we know he's a SWA mech portraying himself as a AT mech.. I don't know him, just like i don't know you. For all I know I could be talking to an appearance tech or something..

I only have one vote. I have stated my position as clearly as posible.
I don't think I have called you names or tried to insult you.

Take your own advice.

See how easy it is to negotiate. All you have to do is propose something, tell the other guy take it or leave it and you get what you want.

So, on another note, the first conversion plane starts today in PAE. AT A//C 300 is going in and scheduled to come out by April 15 as SWA 7714.. The second plane is AT A/C 302 and is scheduled to start either next week or the week after and it will be out by end or April as SWA A/C 7702. At this rate, all the domestic AT 737's will be converted in about 16-18 months, then another 12 months or so for the international 737's. There are still multiple variables that can delay or expedite the process, but from the looks of it, that will be the time table...

What about on the union front? D-Day, so to speak, is tomorrow! Any predictions on the final tally? Or does anyone know of they'll be released early? From SWADL, I believe, said that 90% of the memebership has voted and it looks like its not a landslide because if they're tallying as they go and still haven't announced the results then 10% can still determine the end result, which is what, a little over 100 mechanics. Sounds like its going to be close, of all I said above is the case.

We use an online/telephone vote that is not accessible while voting is active. We will know the results shortly after voting ends. I hope the number is 90% or better on participation. In fact if we hit those numbers (not the actual yes and no percent) it should be made public so the Company can see we are paying attention.

What I said or meant to say was, I was told that 90% of the membership voted on the LOAs

And I know the votes on the LOAs were close. And in my opinion from what iv heard thru out the system, I'm very supprized the DFW LOA was rejected.

What was told to us by our local secretary and passed down to him from True Ballot was if it was a close vote the rsults would be released on the 22nd. If it was a landslide they would be released tomorrow. They say if it's close they have to verify members in good standing. Evidently the last vote was a landslide.

And so the games begin....

Your right. Hey guys focus here. These numbers you all are debating will never change. No matter how long you guys go back and forth. These guys are just saying what it would take for them to vote yes or no. All the nego to a final number will be comepletely up to the 2 nego teams. There is really no reason to debate or nego it here.

Guys settle down please. I have seen 20-25-30- 35%. Talking to AT guys today the magic number is 30%. They believe 20-25% is not going to be enough for SWA mech's but would be preferable for AT,but to get it done they will go to 30%. They and I believe that is being fair. The fact is everyone I hope on this forum wants this done and over with. It is the wrong analogy to use increase in pay compared to decrease in seniority, because if that is the case you would have no problem going to 10% if and when the pay deference was 10%. I do not believe you would agree to that.

I would be willing to accept 30% as well. I too think that is our majical percentile. I would be willing to say that it should pass by both sides at the 30% as you have stated. I too think getting over the 30% mark is getting more than a fair amount. I also feel the same for any amount below the 25% mark. MY favorite and most desired number is 30%. Period. I am sure that will pas both sides with an average of, I don't know, maybe 60/40 pass. I don't think either side would overwhelmingly vote it in or out with that 30%. It's just one of those things that, that is what it will take to get it to pass, the min and the max for both sides... In about 24 hours we will see if we have to go back to the table.

100% correct. I think your dead on here. There will be no more nego. They will talk, throw the changes at it, and they will say to the members of both sides to "take it-great we can move on" or "leave it-and off to arbitration it is".
AvTech; You are also correct about the 30% offer from the AT guys. Now I assume this is from the majority as you have been talking to alot of them as well as Pepper from way back when. I would like to be the first to say "thank you" to all the AT mechanics willing to look at a 30% reduction in order to getting this done and overwith. At the same time I would also like to thank the SWA mechanics willing to look at a 30% reduction in their senority. Both sides are looking at huge movements, AT from DOH (DOC) to 30%, and the SWA mechs from 70% boost senority to the current 30% reduction being discussed. Both sides are showing major movements. That's great. And that is what it will take to get this done.
