Why do you think SWA is changing everything to AirTran's way?? Because I can assure you, as far as paperwork and manuals are concerned, Airtran mechs are adopting an entirety new method!!

Because we are. Everynight we see new airtran paperwork replacing ours. We're going to change our acft numbers to mimic yours. The list goes on and on.

AVTech04-- you are mostly correct from what we are told. Y'all get a unused un assigned employee number that falls within 2 years of your AT seniority date. I dislike this idea and so does most all employees contract and non contract. The reason why is we have had this number since we started SWA! It's like our second social security number. It means everything to us. It's our identity within The SWA system no matter what station your at other employees can see that number and know how long you have been at SWA and what you have been thru! I feel that by SWA giving y'all old numbers they are trying to hide you. You all should get new employee numbers just like all employees have. All our new hires up to this date and future dates will be receiving new employee numbers. You are correct in saying we will have an RSD date by our names as well as y'all will have a mark next to your name stating your not an original employee. But I and many other employees feel yall should get new employee numbers!

The sick policy is too tight. I have over 1000 hours of sick time on the books, and them saying I can only use 9 days within a year is bullish$t. We have a sick policy granted it is very vague but it's there. I agree we need to show up for work when scheduled. And yes we need to get rid of the slugs that burn a day as soon as they get it but go directly after them not the whole membership.

And why should an employee that is maxed out on sick hours be punished for using them up right before they retire?? At that point it's use them or loose them.

Why are we wasting time fighting Something Ridiculous as this? AMFA agrees with sick time abuse (taking sick time when you are not sick)? Sickcations!
whatever you want to call it. Like Gary said. We need to be professionals and show up for work when scheduled. We really need to get rid all of those worthless folks with that mentality

The proper way for Southwest to institute a new sick policy would be to negotiate it into our next contract. If they want the contract language changed, they need to offer something in return.

Well, I'm not there to see the changes you guys are going through but from what I've seen with the MPM and the new paperwork we have to use starting next week, none of it has been used at AirTran, ever. We have to use a new non routine, new task cards, new log book.. All of it is alien to us. The new numbering system for the A/C's is also not adopted from AirTran. All of our A/C's have a sequential nose number that does not match the N number, 717's start with 701-799 and 737's are 300-357. I think this is a whole new system that SWA is setting up for all of us. A little bit of AirTran with a little bit of SWA... I personally don't like the new paperwork because it leaves too much room for error, but te A/C numbering system makes sense... A 4 digit number to represent the 737 version and where is came from, the first -800 is 8001 if I'm. It mistaken and a AirTran 737-700 will be 7701, while SWA it will be 7001.. I thought it to be perfectly logical.

Absolutely!! Don't let them implement a sick policy under your noses and with out a fight. AirTran management snuck our sick policy in and with ours, if you call out once every 6 months on the dot, you'll be fired in 7 years!!

I feel that by SWA giving y'all old numbers they are trying to hide you. You all should get new employee numbers just like all employees have. Well, how about we just keep the employee numbers that we have... And if there's any conflict with another SWA employee number then go up for the nextt available number and work it out that way... Honestly, after all we've already. Een through, I didn't expect the employee number to be such an issue. Yes, it represents where you've come from but it also adds yet another scarlet letter to our careers. We'd eventually like to be SWA employees and not Airtran employees working at SWA...

What he says is true. Our new paperwork, we've been told, is AT paperwork. As far as A/C numbers, ours match the tail number. NOW we have to learn a new numbering system and add to it a new computer system (TRAX), new paperwork, LARGER mpm (with plenty of loopholes to hang us with), new log books and as GRMACH1 stated the list goes on.

In my station we have an AT insp manager here and he is running around telling people how things should be done and will be done, has a very cocky attitude as well. I can't wait to meet him, he WILL be in for a surprise with me!

AVTech04- I personally think y'all should keep your employee number and just add an AT in front of the number. That way no number could ever match up.

And I'm not saying to give y'all your original AT employee numbers to have you singled out but I'd assum you all are just as proud of your AT number as I am of my SWA number. So with that said I say you keep your AT number or get a new SWA number! And I will welcome you to SWA as I would anybody else and can't wait to someday call you my union brother. It's just the employee number to me is a touchy subject. Btw Mr fisher one of the DFW AT mechanics has been working the night C check shift. He is a new sup for us. I met the guy and I have to say he seems like a real good chap! He is alot younger than I thought, looks to be 21. Man I wish I looked that young.

Bus,
Get a clue man. I have been posting that we will get back to the table for awhile now. We all know it's not garrenteed, but there is in fact a meeting set for 2-23-12 with all 3 party's.

And by all 3 parties you mean AMFA, IBT, and SWA management ? If that's what you mean why in the world would you want management there ? Remember this latest offer was managements and you guys didn't like it. So doesn't AMFA have the balls to negotiate on their own or do they need the company to hold their hand and tell them what is good for you ?

No management doesn't need to be there to hold our hands, but they have every right to be there and see what's been said and how it goes. And if nego is what happens then I want the company to keep there mouth shut.

Yes. We were told all 3 are coming to the table. We were also told that this info came from AMFA National. AirTrantech; by all means feel free to contact AMFA National and ask questions, after all they will be your future union, and they will take the time to answer your questions, and I encourage it so that you guys can get verification of what is being posted.
Me personally, I don't want management there. You are 100% correct, this should be between AMFA and who ever shows up to represent the AT mechanics. Hopefully it will be the AT nego. committee and not the IBT truckers as we are hearing, it would not be good for you guys if the truckers show up, we have seen them in action here before.
I think this go around the company will be present, mainly, to help keep peace between the groups. The will be there to supply all the super glue to the seats. They do not want this going to arbitration, as AMFA don't either. They all would rather work this out one last time, prior to going to arbitration. But I'm sure the IBT will screw there members and force this thing to arbitration, after all, they wanted to do this from the get-go just to (as they think) to get pay back to the AMFA/SWA mechanics, when in fact they will be hurting the membership they represent, but hey, they don't care about them since they are losing them as dues paying members.

BTW; sure hope you guys can get your SLI committe back to the table. I think AvTech has metioned he has heard rumors that they are working on it and that they are still talking with the teamsters about it. Good luck with it, hope you guys get what you want. I honestly think with AT cmte and AMFA at the table we will come to an agreement. If it's the IBT I don't feel so confident.
