jester,
no complaint from me.. here's my perspective on this .. maybe you will be able to see things on the other side. IF the IAM wants to bring the west up to its east counterparts...I AM 100%

for that.. I agree . we do the same work so thats ABSOULUTELY fair.. but however IF bringing you guys up to east standards is going to COST me an East employee .. MY PROFIT SHARING/ MY CIC

THE OPPORTUNITY FOR THE COMPANY to close YOUR class II stations, and extending the BANKRUPTCY contract unitl 2012... NO I am not for that.. IAM screwed up when they wanted to start taking from

east to give to the west.. but thats how the IAM works.. divide and conquer..

Well all I know is that if the I AM MANAGEMENT decides to accept a contract that gives away profit sharing, and throws out the COC, then I hope everyboby systemwide wakes up and realizes that the I AM MANAGEMENT

Jester-
''So I'll ask again: "What are you really worth?"

I'm worth what I would consider a fair contract. Like I posted previously, no
one is asking to take the profits from this company and bleed them back into a
non profitable airline. What we deserve, not what were worth is a wage scale and
benifits that reflect that of the numbers' the airline make. When we were in bankruptcy,
we made bankruptcy type numbers. Now with an airline showing the ability to turn a
profit for 7 consecutive quarters and us looking at renegotiating a deal in the end of
09' if not sooner, our numbers should reflect thiers'. We have a past record to indicate
what those numbers were and should be. Jester, were told to ''never sell yourself short'',
but I feel many workers do. It is only off the backs of the workforce that a company may
succeed and when the company succeeds the workforce needs to be rewarded just like
the CEO's and the AGC's, that hold our contracts in thier hands. I feel many people including
yourself feel this vocation is a lesser choice than it was years ago
and though the scale figures
prove this to be true, I believe with the airlines merging and creating a stronger influence in
the aviation industry could and should only raise the level of class of people who would seek
employment with them. Now whether we as a union can negotiate this or the company to
realize it remains to be seen for now. As far as , ''what are you really worth ?'' I'll wait til
I reach the gates of heaven to answer that, for right now I don't know my worth but I do
understand my value. Thanks for your post and I hope, we as a group ,can obtain what I believe
what we deserve not what the CEO's and AGC's believe were entitled to.

Thanks

Well all I know is that if the I AM MANAGEMENT decides to accept a contract that gives away profit sharing, and throws out the COC, then I hope everyboby systemwide wakes up and realizes that the I AM MANAGEMENT is only looking out for the company's interests and not ours! GO IBEW

O.K. These are "fighten'" words! Easties you might have worked longer years and gone thru downturns. You put all your "eggs in the basket". You, have been able to sustain yourself on the results of and even thru two bankruptcies. Now! of course you want, and justly deserve what has been lost. O.K. AWA members created a nich also that included low paying jobs with a second job. Some even "Eeked" out an existence on "doubles" paying for families and mortgages with this low cost carrier.
It's time to relate to each other and realize the bottom line is "Money! Money, to pay for a house. Money for families! Money for a Credit Rating that can give you bank loans and buy necessities!
The company will change "at will", so no one is safe on job security. No, union can control that! It's being done as we speak.
You want to be fair! Make! an agreement for the West that allows us to become equal in pay; and adjust, all benefits to, and only till 2009! Then we will ALL be on the same "playing field".
It's time to stop YOUR needs against OUR needs and relate on ALL NEEDS!(until 2009). The, Heck! 2009 is only ONE YEAR AWAY! But, it is the difference of loosing your home and living up to your principles!

If there is a TA! Lord! Hope it gives hope to both sides. IT includes the possibilty of continuing profit sharing, and A fair wage and job security up till 2009. AND THEN LET ALL HELL GO AT IT for the future airline.

LITH You just don't get it. The easties aren't holding up your agreement the IAM is. They are the ones that put everything in one basket when they refused to do the section 6 neg. The fact that you believe that we on the east are playing with your futures is just plain not true. We can't take something less than what we deserve. We have taken less for way to long. The time to recoup our losses is now. The IAM just wants to keep us all under the companies thumb. I said this before the IAM has done more to devide and conquer us than the company ever will. You sound like you are a westie. I am very sorry you are suffering but remember we have been suffering for 13 years with the IAM. Don't get sucked in on the IAM bull S***. They want you guys to blame us on the east. There is no excuse for the fact that the TWU had more than 5 parts to your contract done when the decision came down that the IAM will represent you. Ask your AGC why there hasn't been any progress for 18 months.

So! Truth is the TWU "Threw in the Blanket" because they didn't have the experience to see what was coming down the road!
That's the problem with inexperience. And, that is probably the problem with experience. Which union has the eye on the ball?
Which union has the "In" to persuade the other party. Seems the company is too persuasive and union leaders accept this.
Again! We won't be loosing as long as we play the 2009 game! Thirteen years and only one more to go.

''How much do you think you are worth?

1. First and foremost, I think that I am worth all of the seniority that I have earned while working on the ramp. Not just a portion of it. Which means that i am worth my DATE OF HIRE.

2. Second since I have been through all of the paycuts, I know that I am worth at the bare minimum $25.00 per hour. Had it not been for 911 and the bankruptcies, I feel that those of us that are topped out would have exceeded the $25.00 mark long ago.

3. One sick day earned, one sick day taken, one sick day paid.

4. 401k with a company match. Damn an iam pension. I'll take a company match now, over who knows what with the iam at some later date.

5. My vacation and holidays back!

Here we go again the IAM threatens the westies that are looking for change! The IAM AGC had chairs in particular cities confront and threaten members with pulling their union cards so they can get them fired! That is really how a union is supposed to treat their members. They can't provide good service so they will try to hurt the members that won't be yes men! This is what we are talking about. Instead of fighting for a decent contract and some respect for the group they will fight with the members. Guys wake up we have to have a change. Get with your IBEW people and sign a card!

Not to mention
1. Shift Differentials
2. Line Pay
3. Longevity Pay
4. Doubletime
5. Paid Meal Periods for those who work 3rd shift
6. NO OUTSOURCING WHAT SO EVER

So! We will expect! nothing less than a TA after the arbitor that includes up till, 2009!, job security/ wage increase at inflation rates into 2009/ both 401.k for east and also choice of both 401.k and pension for east. Remember, this is a TA! They company has a real plan for after 2009. SCREW! anything up to 2011.

Look we could go on and on about what we should get. The reality is that we won't get it. The I AM MANAGEMENT union is in bed with the company. We will get screwed by both of them. Hopefully it is onlt until 2009, the end of 2009, 2 more years.

If you look at the history of this airline, the profits are the most it's ever made since the airline existed. almost 20 years ago the ramp had double time, hourly rate was 17.88. You also get paid for sick time, WITH NO CONTRACT. Cost of living is higher. The Co. is almost going to make a billion this year.

Labor Dawg! Is it true IAM is threatening members about their dues! SCREW! leadership at local levels. NO ONE is getting REAL training for ANY UNION. WE are ALL SCREWED! GET a REAL LAWYER! The company knows when we are spinning our wheels.
That is why is is essential the MR. BRICKNER, the coordinator of IAM airline contracts for the last 30 years gets something going. We have waited for anything resulting to continuance for this union.
We might have to look elsewhere. But we gave them our best and they are not responding. Maybe, this site is not where they get their input either?
