IAM M&R CONTRACT UPDATE AUG-2013

From an AMT's standpoint, this tenative agreement is terrible.  You guys have been negotiating far too long to accept a substandard contract such as this.  If I didn't know better, I would have guesed this package was negotiated by our TWU International over at AA.  Another "all inclusive" package that encompasses all title groups represented by the IAM, and spreads the increases - such that the AMTs remain the lowest paid in the industry.  Unbelievable, such an abomination was brought back!  Vote No!  Sign an AMFA auth card as fast as you can!  Lets get this done right for AMTs and related in OPEN negotiations!  August is coming up - the wait to submit cards for an election is almost over.

The full language hasnt been released, you are speculating.

Read the whole CBA, then base your postings on it.

I was always under the assumption that the "Highlight" sheet was the best points of the contract....looking at the sheet there is not much good in it....Have to hand it to them, IAM negotiated another Industry Lagging Contract!!!  To all the IAM voters, think about it now, could the IBT have done any worse........just asking!!!

I have to agree.

I'm totally insulted.  And judging by my coworkers, I'm not alone.

How many years of concessions and givebacks to end up with this?  Where's the scope?  What good is 3% if you don't have a job?

The real slap in the face is the $1500 signing bonus and the $22,500 by-out given to the trainers, but not the other groups.

After all these years.......... Here we go again.

Start the card drive.  Start sending them to the other stations. There's no real action on our side.

There's a lot of people in the dark and have no idea the AA side is collecting cards, or where to get one.

I believe the Joint negotiations will involve some sort of buyout package that will be used as a hook to get the 50% +1 the company needs to pass the next POS past the combined group!!
My opinion.

I understand that there is a drive going on at US Air.  Being a grass roots effort, it can take a little longer to spread the info to every AMT & Related.  If you can't find your local AMFA contact, this link/web address will offer you a downloadable AMFA auth card - along with where to send it.  http://www.amfanational.org/index.cfm?zone=/unionactive/doc_page.cfm&pageID=1424

On the AA side, the cards have been collected - and continue to be.  You guys need to get on board.  PM me if you have any questions.

Real tired

Here at AA we have been collecting cards since the beginning of the yr, we also have a conference call each week and there are guys from PITTS, CLT PHX on those calls.
cards have been collected from USAirways AMT's.

At your station if you have not heard of any thing and are not satisfied with what the IAM brought back then why don't YOU get involved?  You have been on the AA threads and seen how unhappy the AA guys are for the better part of 10 yrs.

If you need cards sent to you we CAN arrange that with out any problem.

All you need to do is ask, get a group of guys at your station together to help you.

This association between the IAM/TWU is also NOT going to benefit us as AMT's.

Have even read the Q&A's about it and the manifesto they sent out?

Sign an AMFA card and get others too as well.

I saw nothing in the HS (highlight sheet) about any pension increase.  And I thought I read it in one of the articles.  So is there a pension increase???  Why isn't it on the HS?   Hmmmm...

I also think for as long as you guys were under concessions the increases would have been better than what they are.  They simply brought you guys up to par with the AA'ers, something every company has done in the past and the IAM had to beg and barrow to get this, some things are not adding up.  Good luck with the voting...

Sept 2014 3% will put your base at 30.20 and AA base on 9/12/14 goes to 31. The IAM said they wouldn't talk about a combined agreement because they were behind their peers at AA. Looks like they will do just that if this is ratified! We ALL really need to be represented by another organization!!

They should already be at 30.21 base rate. They have had 2 3% raises from not getting a TA in 2012 and 2013. The next 2 3%s should put them at 32.04 base rate.

Reviewing:

'99 was the last real contract

The contract of '03 was totally concessionary, and we gave up more than I ever could have imagined.

The contract of '05 was totally concessionary, and we gave even more.  Most of us then learned to live on much less.

The Transition Agreement contract of '08 was totally concessionary and we were brought down again to match the America West AMT's.

And let's not forget:
The pension
The 401k match money
Parity+1%
Profit sharing
The retroactive pay cut
Vacation
Sick time
Double time
The "you are confused" re-vote
Uniforms
Birthdays
What have I forgot?

And 3% plus 2 sick days is the best they can do?

True, I haven't seen the term sheet yet to see the scope, but I can almost bet that "PIT ain't going to be it" any longer.

It'll pass around here with flying colors.  Just as it always has.

That's a very nice offer.  Thank you, I might take you up on that.

But this is PIT, remember.  We are the senior station.  And we are scared.

We do not know any better.  We might not want to rock the boat.

We only know how to vote yes as our masters want.

We come out of our trailer parks every day in our Dodge Ram 2500's and see these few pennies the company is offering us as extra gas in the tank.

You'll get no AMFA cards from the guys in PIT.
