IAM M&R CONTRACT UPDATE AUG-2013

They never release specifics as it can change at a moments notice, I have been on the NC before, I can tell you its always fluid until you have a TA.

It tells you they are still in DC and they are still negotiating, Fleet came to an agreement supposedly yesterday.

I can assure you that most all the membership knows that nego's are fluid.  But it does not mean that the union cannot update with more specifics that happened at the table.  It just an excuse for the union not keeping the membership informed and educated on the specifics.    I do wish the IAM membership good luck.

Where did you hear Fleet came to an agreement yesterday??  We here in Fleet had heard that about MTC. on Friday, so I'm thinking those are both rumors !!!

Machinists, US Airways Reach Tentative Agreement on Contracts for 11,000

June 16, 2014

The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) today announced it reached tentative agreements with US Airways on contracts covering approximately 11,000 mechanic and related, fleet service, maintenance training specialist and stock clerk employees.

The three-year accords provide for substantial wage hikes, significant job security improvements and maintain industry-best healthcare benefits, among many other improvements. A ratification schedule is being developed.

"We thank the negotiating committees for their dedication and resolve during these difficult negotiations," said IAM District 141 and 142 Presidents Rich Delaney and Tom Higginbotham in a joint statement. "These tentative agreements provide a solid starting point for joint collective bargaining with our Transport Workers Union (TWU) brothers and sisters.”

The IAM has been in negotiations with US Airways for the mechanic and related, fleet service, maintenance training specialist and stock clerk employees for approximately three years and has demanded a fair contract first for IAM-represented pre-merger US Airways workers before any merger-related issues would be discussed.

"My sincere thanks to the IAM membership at US Airways," said General Vice President Sito Pantoja. "When these tentative contracts are ratified by IAM members at US Airways, the IAM-TWU Alliance will then begin the process of negotiating joint contacts that will cover over 30,000 alliance members at the 'new' American Airlines. These tentative agreements provide unprecedented job security provisions that will protect IAM members as the merger of US Airways and American Airlines proceeds. I'd also like to thank the NMB, and especially Chairwoman Linda Puchala, for their help in bringing these negotiations to a successful conclusion.”

The IAM and TWU, the union that represents ground workers at pre-merger American Airlines, formed a representation alliance last year after the merger of US Airways and American Airlines was announced.

Tell me they are kidding.....3% upon signing?????  No retro???? Any Union that once negotiated retro giveback and is unable to obtain retro pay...what a joke!!   Not even worth reading the rest!!!! All non union employees within the company received 2-3%....Proud to still be the lowest paid in the industry!!!  After reading the "highlight sheet" really worried on what they gave away!!  Anything in there about the company paying the Union's expenses for negotiations like last time????

Was retro not something they were after? I don't even see a signing bonus, like fleet got. It's hard to judge based on a highlight sheet, need to see actual language. It is good that they got OT back to your 'all in' rate though.

Do the math with that 3% DOS....how long have we been without a contract.....works out to actually what percentage.....A real joke!!!  To bad the "Teamster Raid" slowed down the negotiations so bad that we could have not received this offer earlier!!!! As for the job protection......Guessing it will be typical IAM hurry up and vote, we will get you the actual contract book later....

Its 3% at DOS and another 3% in September of 2014.

And its a three year bridge agreement before going into JCBA talks.

Seeing on the fleet side, they at least got some sort of a signing bonus?  I understand it a three year bridge agreement plus and additional two or three years of negotiations.....Minimum 4-5 year contract at best if history repeats itself.....

Its a three year bridge agreement:

Three Year Contract. Pay increase of 1 ½ % Sept. 2016 and 1 ½ % Sept 2017, if no joint collective bargaining agreement has been reached.

Checking out the above link, I really like the statement by Sito Pantoja "When these tentative contracts are ratified by IAM members"....guess from this statement its already a given????  How about an "IF" !!!!
