It should be interesting when the Senators call each of the RC4. I can here it now from statements made by the RC4. In fact, I'm sure Senator Specter is going to be impressed when he talks to these guys.....

Do you know Arlen Specter personally USA320Pilot? I do. And, let me tell you something he listens and doesn't make any judgements without getting all the facts. He respects the pilot group (and all employees) at US Airways immensely. I am sure when Fred and John talk to him he'll be impressed by their dedication to the pilot group and the company.

Unemployment will help a lot, especially without health care coverage.

USA320Pilot, I believe you stated that you have a child that is going through major health issues. Again, I am sorry if that is the case. That being said, I understand why you are personally so against the RC4. But, at some point you must ask yourself: How much are you willing to give up to keep your job? Many of us have given enough and have to say no at some point.

I could be furloughed out of seniority like others, but last month I received two letters of commendation for reporting to work for every scheduled event, not using any sick time for the past six months, and for outstanding performance by rescuing and flying a broken airplane with a serious fuel problem.

I doubt I would get furloughed out of seniority.

How about you?

Furthermore, since Judge Mitchell is continuing his history of approving every company motion, it appears the S.1113 process could be very, very interesting.

Tic...toc...tic...toc, next week is just around the clock...

My son had his surgery and nobody is keeping you at the company. Show some courage and quit if you "had enough". But, I believe it’s wrong for people to contribute to the failure of the company if they do not want to work in the LCC environment.

Furthermore, I believe it’s better to have a job while looking for a job. There is no sensible argument to suggest otherwise.

If it helps, I know F/As that opted for MDA and make around the same they made on unemployment, and didnt have health care coverage for thier first few months at work. With all of the paycuts, alot of employees dont have that much to lose now.

Is it just you who will lose out?

Really.

This "out of seniority" furlough debate is at the point of being pure nonsense. "Could" the company do such given the appropriate court authority? Certainly. "Would" the company do such? Highly unlikely, for both the reasons that Pitbull gives, as well as the hostility it would be created within the ranks. I can't imagine any of the company's legal advisors encouraging such an action.

I gotta say, each union better start to pull their proverbial poop together ...

Please give us an example of a badly behaved pilot who would be furloughed out of seniority. One that doesnt have perfect attendance? One that's been fortunate to not have to 'rescue' a broken airplane?

We're all just wondering what other reasons besides pay and seniority would the company furlough for, since you seem to have out alot of thought into it?

Maybe ethics violations, like posting as a US Airways employee on an internet site?

How many pilots out there are living on their knees with no dignity? Not Fred Fishwater.

USA320Pilot, I certainly touched on a sore spot with you. Hope you son is doing well. Courage can be defined by many things. Quitting is not courageous. Standing up for your profession speaks more than just lying down and letting the company do as they please. I am willing to work in an LCC enviroment; however, my pay needs to reflect our competitors. The last proposal by the company was not even close. So, you're saying I should quit because I don't agree with the company? That's odd...

Gee, I didn't realize you were auditioning for the sequel to "The Right Stuff." Don't go breaking your arm patting yourself on the back there... Oh, and who is the best pilot? Me. B)

I heard that too Jim. Then again you and I understand the complexities of the psyche of the ego. Humility and arrogrance are good traits in a pilot. However, it's quite clear somebody is taking the arrogant part to new extremes.
