For all those that can't "find" a job.

Takes one to know one.

Now for something completely different. Truth is that with a little effort one can find quotes from Lincoln or Jefferson that convey the same ideas. Which I would think would be the point of the exercise.

Even though the quotes are falsely attributed they are not false as an idea or concept of how society should work.

Yep and in this case the shoe fits. I hope he likes the style.
I grow weary of the pithy remarks that often derail a perfectly good debate.

If we believe that Welfare as a concept is morally & ethically wrong for a government to engage in the practice of.

Does that include you when you collected unemployment and EITC?

I apologize if for only of a fraction of a second I made you think.  Didn't last long I see.

Unemployment is at least partly funded by employee's ergo not a handout. I applied for SNAP and was accepted but never followed through as I went out and got another part time job. Anything else you want to be wrong about or is 2 enough for one day?

Oh and BTW, I think @ age 59 a 41 year history of continuous employment prior to the Liar in Chief being elected in 2009 followed by 99 weeks of unemployment then 4 more years of continuous employment is an OK track record.

There was a point where I had figured out how to "retire" by freeloading off the government but I just can't bring myself to pull the trigger on the plan. Integrity gets in the way sometimes.

I was clever enough to get out of the AA/TWU
How clever did you have to be to get laid off from AA?

Some might call "clever" you calling people mooches and parasites while you were taking unemployment and government subsidized training

So you, the champion of individual liberty, is blaming Obama for your 99 weeks of unemployment?

His work speaks for itself. Who am I to interrupt?

Oh and by way of clarification, 777's mention of the EITC. EITC is part of the tax code. Has ZERO to do with welfare. IF and that's a big IF you had a clue you'd know that EITC was championed by Milton Friedman and made law under NIXON. The EITC goes back to the teachings of F.A Hayek, Friedman and other noted non Keynesian economists who have essentially stated that in order to thrive an economy MUST have as Hayek called it a "Minimum Income" (in fairness Hayek never stated that this should be a role for government.) While champion of the EITC Milton Friedman favored a "Negative Tax" to make up the disparity between what was truly earned by a person. The subsequent addition of the EITC to the tax code was designed for families and single mothers. A single male would be lucky to get $200 under the program. So much for that war on women I guess.

As to Obama, there were EIGHT Presidents prior to the Liar and I managed to work the entire time. POOF, The liar comes along and I'm on the street? Who would you suggest I blame? Lyndon LaRouche?

I'll go back to clinging to my guns and religion now, being that it's all Bush's fault and I'm a racist.

Yep, If Ron Paul was in office, you would never have lost your job, much less have had 99 weeks of unemployment.

99 weeks unemployed and you are seriously blaming others. Wow.
Well for 99 weeks (just under 2 years) I tried to seek employment in my specific field. You've got all the answers don't you? You should change your name to IKE (I Know Everything).

Had a family illness that required that I return to the east which didn't help. Once it became clear that work in my specific field was gone and not likely to return I sought other jobs and got hired for part time work by by 7 different companies over a 4 year period in order to make my own way. NO SNAP, NO EITC, NO General Assistance, NOTHING from the government that I didn't at least pay into like Unemployment for example. Here it's a separate line item on your pay stub so you can blow that snarky comment right out your assets.

Did I make a mistake? YES, I had enough ego to say time and again "Something will break my way" all the while sinking into a financial abyss. I should have applied for all manner of grants and loans and reinvented myself (As I'm doing now with the money I EARNED)

As a side note, those who know me also know that right around the time of the downsizing I "went dark" here and resurfaced with a new screen name and some other safeguards due to a situation that hasn't and never will be revealed.

Any time your pompous Alligator Mouth and Hummingbird arse want to trade places let me know. Otherwise STFU. You don't know me and you have no authority to judge me personally. Now go give Obama his pillow and Blankie.
