F/A union bashing has got to stop...

Sorry Wolf,

I should have made that statement clearer, it should read…"saving FPL that can go back into a printed monthly newsletter, more meetings, meetings that have refreshments for attendees, training, budgets for committees…†I don’t believe in getting elected and sitting around waiting for the phone to ring and collecting 160 hours of pay. If you read a little further in my post I said the office will be staffed with at lease two officers, the office will also have days when all of the officers will be there and we will also have staff meetings that include committee members. Smarter, don’t you think?

I don’t plan on playing that political game in PHL…I’m not that type of person. My focus is on the base in the areas that management is dropping the ball. Office politics come from people who are power hungry and self absorbed, sounds like something you may be familiar with by your statement. I’m not that type of guy. There may be days when we sing, I will be sure to invite you…but you better be nice.

I know its going to take a lot of work to turn the local around. I hope that when you see things getting better your kind enough, and even man or woman enough to leave some constructive…maybe even complementary comments.

Bid the 757 like I do...same pilots, same aircraft, usually the entire trip.

If you continue to bid 737/A320 mix lines, what do you expect?

What are you talking about rolley-eyes? xoxo is an East F/A. All we get to bid is reserve days off. The question is whether the west F/As will be doing pilot trips come May like the east does...

No Andy, I'm sorry.

I didn't know the election was over and you had won.
I would have never made any comments to upset you had I known.
I hope you will still invite me to come and sing.

You will be one officer out of three, I'm glad you know who won the other positions and that they too don't play office politics.
I've attended more meetings in my life than you can schedule even if you are elected.
Most achieve nothing.
Nice to offer refreshments though, maybe someone will show up.
Not sure what your experience is but your post's seem somewhat immature.
Don't mean to sound angry, but I received my W-2 and it just doesn't make me happy.

I'll be nice when we get someone in office that can compete with the men running this company and have the backbone to stand up to them to fight for the rights of the FA's.

I don't believe you have that type of makeup, nothing personal.

That means we also need to find someone that the company respects and M. Flores is not that guy. This would be at the MEC level. CLT looking for a big change also. New blood soulnds great. Hope it happens. I hate to say it, but most of our BH's in CLT just don't care enough to come to the meetings. A decent amount of RSV's show up and they are fired up(I like that). When M. Flores comes down here for his meetings, I look forward to asking him" Since we took all these huge wage and benefit cuts, why the hell did you give a third of my profit sharing away?" S. Hearn you'se to say" Don't vote for a RSV, they will give everything up". To which we would ask, " What did you leave us to give up?" Damn, we need a wholesale sweep in CLT and I hope it happens this time. New blood, old blood, I don't care. We just need different blood in office.

I agree.
We need people who are unafraid and have no agenda other than the rights of the FA's.

I guarantee you that when the meetings are over between MF and the company during negotiations, that the company exec's have a drink and laugh about what a pansy, ass-kissing "leader" the union has to represent them.

I know enough corp. exec's to know how it works, it's war and the guy fighting for us is PEE WEE Herman.

To them MF is fish food, like a seal to a Great White.

Hell MF thinks he is one of them and his head swells when he meets and eats with them.

HE is one election away from working out on the line, and I will do my all to see he gets back to his job.

DAMN, I'M PISSED.
VOTE CC IN CLT, I'LL GET BACK TO YOU ON PHL,
BUT IT AIN'T AP OR TG.

You are right on that one. I am going with CC in CLT. I hear CD in PHL might be a good choice. Mike is definately a politition and that is what we don't need. M.F. OUT is what we need.

Andy,

PHL base is bigger than you can imagine with huge issues and problems that need immediate attention. Hanging out in the crew rooms or holding meetings when only .00001% of f/as attend, while noble, is truly unrealistic and a total waste of union dues.

Being in the office and answering those phones, and resloving those issues as they crop up immediately with follow through is the key to a successful administration. The f/as will respect you more if you handle their issues to resolve quickly then being concerned on how much fpl you want to save. There is no martydom here. You're in the office 6 hours you get paid full fpl. Simple and worth every penny.

Trust me, management has more fear of the officers that stay in the office and are reliable to the f/as on a daily basis then those reps who go out and fly, and hold meetings where no one shows up.

With regard to newsletters. Its free via E-line. Encourage f/as to sign up and stay up to date. Every f/as should have access to a computer, after all, the company communicates 99% by theHUB. Folks can print it up and take it with them to read at work or on overnights. Much better access than stuffing boxes where many don't go for weeks. And folks who are on sick/medical leave don't have access to their mail files anyway..so, we've learned its a waste of valuable funds.

Careful what you wish for! Staying with the pilots keeps us protected by the me-too language that we have now.

Andy,

Just because we split from the pilots, shouldn't mean that we lose anything. We have seperate contracts and we could possibly have the duty days, etc. language in our contracts. I do like the fact that we DO stay together.

On a different note.....

I have complete faith in what you are saying. However, you need to prove to us (the membership) that your word is good. Can you do that? I talk to a lot of flight attendants and many don't know you....I know of you, but don't know you....I am suggesting that they vote for you as they don't know many of the candidates.
Are you going to let me down?

We need MAJOR changes. Not just the way the office is run, but the way ALL the flight attendants are treated especially the reserves.

Actually, we had that language in our contract prior to the concessionary agreements being ratified. Now that we gave it up, I have little faith in the fact that we will ever get it back. Keep in mind, most all the protections and languages in our pre Sept 11 contract was the result of 20 plus years of negotiations. I believe the "sweetness" is gone forever.

We have to make the assumption that as we merge contracts between AWA and USA there has to be some language that is gained or loss between the two agreements. AWA only has duty limitations language in their agreement, Sections 5/6/7. The first paragraph in our agreement in Section 9 is the one that keeps us under the pilot line construction parameters. My guess is that negotiators for the company will have a difficult time in giving us language that is not contained in either agreement. It remains to be seen what our negotiators send out to us to ratify.

Thanks for your support! I know that many in Philadelphia don’t know me. I have been based there 10 years and I still am flying with people I’ve never met or even seen before… because of the PIT and BWI displacements so there are many new people for me to meet. Major change IS on the horizon…electing new representation is the first step in making this happen. The second piece of the equation is getting the members to support the new leadership and show the company our solidarity. Without that we are just back in the same place that we were before.

I have intentionally kept a low profile while working for AFA because I didn’t believe in many of the practices and didn’t want to become some one influenced by their bad habits. Political infighting, disclosure of personal information, gross monetary gain, personally I was disgusted. For a character references, it would be nice if I could share some names of the many people that I defended while working in the office, but their privacy is of the utmost importance to me.

As I spend the month campaigning many will have the opportunity to meet me and hear my plans, and I to hear their concerns, something I look forward to!

Again, thanks for your support.

OK Andy,

Forget the names, just tell me what you did while working for AFA and what was your position in the union.

Twicebaked,

Read this carefully then explain it to me.

Not that I need to explain my actions to anyone, but here it is.

I PERSONALLY don't know (never met) Andy. I know of him, about him, and have gotten a pretty good sense of what he stands for, where is wants the membership to go and how to get us there. I have learned this by talking to people about him. I inturn inform those who ask me about where he wants to go the same way I was informed.... Altimately STILL their decision on who to vote for. This is how ALL the candidates get voted in.

On a national level. Do you personally know Hillary Clinton? NO! You will base your decision on what you learn about her, from her and from others who support her. Hence, is my reasoning behind my support of Andy.

Clear that up for you?

Baked,
CLEAR AS MUD.
Your quote was "I am suggesting that they vote for you as they don't know many of the candidates."
People who think like you give Hillary Clinton a chance to be elected.
SCARES the hell out of me.

It is better to vote for someone that others SUPPORT and you LEARN about them through than to vote for someone just for the sake of voting and that you have no idea about or anyone that supports them. Or worse, not vote at all.

For the record...HILLARY HAS MY VOTE!!!!!!!!
