DL Terminates Labor Activist Kip Hedges

If 7.5 resulted in such a sustainable strategy, then why did DL have to declare bankruptcy within ten years of its inception?...

I know, you don't have to answer because it's off topic.

Maybe I missed it but where does DL state he was let go because of a particular interview.
I believe until both sides of the story are heard, it's all speculation as to exactly why he was let go.
And I'll also Second Dawgs earlier comment, " It's damned near impossible to get fired from DL"!

What a ridculous premise.

And if he made a statement, knowing it might jeopardize his job, for "The Cause", so be it.... time to move on.
Everyone wants the company to follow the rules, so should he!

BLOOMINGTON

Delta Air Lines baggage handler Kip Hedges, fired for speaking out about low wages at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, took his case to the Metropolitan Airports Commission Monday – and commissioners said they will consider endorsing worker rights through a “labor peace ordinance.”

Hedges, a 26-year airline employee and known union activist, was fired on Dec. 2 for comments he made in a Workday Minnesota video in support of the campaign to raise the minimum wage at the airport to $15 an hour.

At the monthly Airports Commission meeting, Hedges recited the words that got him fired – and challenged commissioners to take a stand in support of workers.

“I want you to make it clear to Delta that they stand alone on this,” Hedges said.

Workers at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport will qualify for paid sick leave under a new policy adopted Monday by the Metropolitan Airports Commission. The decision is being hailed as a groundbreaking move that will benefit thousands of workers.

The campaign seeking a $15-an-hour airport minimum wage, 15NowMinnesota, and Service Employees International Union Local 26 called the commission’s decision a major breakthrough in the effort to improve standards for airport workers. Members crowded the public meeting as commissioners discussed the issue. They also heard from fired Delta Air Lines baggage handler Kip Hedges.

Unless you are trying to legally organize for Unionization. Then it's not too hard.

And you know for a Fact that this dude was fired "JUST" for those comments and not for comments made at the workplace or maybe.... wait.... some other reason.

Guess you also know exactly how many cards have been signed too!

Don't care. I'll support a fellow blue collar worker fighting for fair pay and workers rights over a stone cold corporation every time.

I don't care what the corporate machine has to say and I wouldn't buy it anyway.

Okay, fair enough. Now tell us what rules you think he violated by giving this interview.

Well, that's the difference between you & some of the corporate apologists on here...

Missed it? Please show me where it says he was fired explicitly for comments made in an interview and not something else from a reliable source.

Apparently the difference between a corporate apologists and a union thug is knowing about rules of conduct.

How's that profit sharing working out for ya'? And you do know that if you were an AA "UNION BACKED" employee, your CEO would be telling you, right now that you, as an employee, have nothing to do with turning a profit.
Sounds like the IAM has a lot of clout with management.

What a ridculous premise.
have you or are you willing to give up your job for the cause?

no, you are not.

You aren't standing with anyone.

southwind is absolutely right.

and DL employees not only are far higher paid than their union counterparts at AA but DL without a union has preserved more locations for DL employees - that's called scope - than their unionized airlines have done with a union to "force them".

Hows not being in a union working for you?
