I was just wondering how the other employees at DL feel about a poosible pilot strike and the ramifications it could cause toward your future employment with DL?

malikie,
I'm not a DL employee.
But the answer to your question(IMHO) is, that(especially) the NON Union folks are very nervous/scared/Angry.

Here's why.

DL is working VERY hard(as we speak) to survive this BK-11, and emerge as a serious "player"
(Just look at all the expansion that they have planned)
I agree with World Traveler, that DL would dearly love to "go it alone"

They lack only Asia to their global system, and by spending money(THAT THEY DON'T HAVE) to acquire another carrier, just to become an "Asian player", does'nt make sense.

The Pilots WON'T strike, BUT DL will NOT "call their BLUFF" either, therefore setting up a situation where the elusive MONEY will come from ALL the non Union employees, who I might add have already given "their fair share"

DL may "suggest" that all DL employees are equal, but I predict that DL will "do" $$$$$$ otherwise.

B.O.B. IF YOU CANT TAKE A QUESTION SERIOUSLY I ADVISE YOU TO SAY NOTHING AT ALL. ITS RUDE AND UNWARRENTED.

Seems like a baited question. If you were an employee and another employee group held your future status in their hands, how would you feel? Of course they are not going to like it.

STRIKE, STRIKE STRIKE!!!!!!!

Your worship of your pfalse god, the union, seems to be controlling your emotions and blinding you to the big picture.

To hope for a strike that will put thousands on the street is pretty pathetic.

Nothing pfalse about the union! You CS, have been sipping the kool-aid to long. You should have pfvoted for the union when you had the pfchance!

You have the wrong logo in your avatar. This is the correct one:

It is your mindset regarding the union that I mention.

Instead of being able to agree to disagree on this issue, you attack those who do not bow down before your chosen master like you are some myrmidon from an intolerant religious cult.

You have sacrificed your individuality, your compassion, and your judgment on the altar before your pfalse god.

This too is pretty pathetic.

This isn't a union vs non-union topic folks. Keep it about “DL EMPLOYEE FEELINGS ABOUT POSSIBLE PILOT STRIKEâ€￾. Cease the personal attacks on each other.

(Well lets "try this on for size").

MABEY it will come down to a decision between the BOD's and the "Exit $$$$ people "

The "Exit" people might say, "DO NOT risk a strike by throwing out their contract. Get the $$$$$ from everyone else".

It's NOT out of the realm of reality , to see EVERY DL job contracted out, except the flight crews, and DL agents in ATL/JFK/CVG !!

The BOD's might say, "throw out the contract", (see if they walk, then we will cross the next bridge, at that point in time) !!

It really is that SIMPLE.

DL employees will not like two possible outcomes:
1. DL pilots strike and the carrier shuts down. Of course the reason here is obvious why other DL employees would worry about their future employment.

2. DL gives in and does not ask for as much in concessions from the pilots. DL employees would be very upset that they gave their fair share of concessions while the pilots did not. Better handle on future employment - but everyone pissed off at the pilots/company.

Outcome three is probably the most likely considering how negotiations have gone with the other bankrupt (and even non-bankrupt) carriers:

3. The pilots give in and give DL what they want in concessions (or very, very close). Better handle on future employment and no ill will felt toward the pilots.

Fair share? DL pilots have already taken a 32% cut and a 14% cut just in straight pay. Over 1 billion a year in concessions. We have already given more than any other group.

But you got more than any other group. United plus one percent.
