No reason for the "association" to negotiate anything. They won't get the gig unless they can produce enough cards for a required "showing of interest".bigjets said:Prediction : the association is already negotiating a contract and when the NMB comes down and says the association is our union, the association will have a very good TA waiting for us before we have a chance to get all upset.
Don't bet on the TWU having over 50% interest. The only ones I have come in contact with who are in favor of it are the local officers and the Title 2 guys.CMH_GSE said:No reason for the "association" to negotiate anything. At least that's the way the rules read.
TWU: over 50% of the mechanic group under contract. Showing of interest = check.
IAM: less than 50% of the mechanic group under contract. Showing of interest= nope.
Association: a few guys that says it's cool. Showing of interest= you have to be kidding.
prediction if your prediction is correct. Everyone is lumped into the IAMPF scam!bigjets said:Prediction : the association is already negotiating a contract and when the NMB comes down and says the association is our union, the association will have a very good TA waiting for us before we have a chance to get all upset.
I was only speaking in terms of official "showing of interest" in the eyes of the NMB.OldGuy@AA said:Don't bet on the TWU having over 50% interest. The only ones I have come in contact with who are in favor of it are the local officers and the Title 2 guys.

That's all that matters for now, I never said it was my preferred option.
We currently have a contract with the TWU, and we number over 50% of the mechanic ranks, that's the standard.
The Association has no such contract with anyone, see the difference?

Except that the IAM and TWU jointly filed for the Association.

AFA and USAPA gave in and agreed that APFA and APA would become the unions representing their members. No vote needed. Hence why we both have JCBA's and progress.bigjets said:I don't think the FAs or pilots took votes, I believe the union boards just decided which Union they would go with, but I wouldn't be surprised if the twu gets to decide for us.
I hope I'm just being cynical, and I would vote AMFA over no Union if given the option.
Not quite the same thing. In addition to that, The TWU stated that the membership would have a vote to say if they wanted this unholy alliance.IORFA said:AFA and USAPA gave in and agreed that APFA and APA would become the unions representing their members.
