The association is a done deal, the two unions don't have to ask are permission, they have full authority over our opinion "officially"
The NMB is just deciding how the non-union employees will be represented.
NMB deciding how NON-UNION employees will be represented?????????????????

There are non Union jobs at USAir that are twu represented at AA, surprised you didn't know that.

Kind of depressing, I haven't seen a card drive in a while, not sure what it's going to take to get PIT CLT and Tulsa on board with AMFA, I don't see USAir guys leaving IAM because of their pension.

AFA and USAPA gave in and agreed that APFA and APA would become the unions representing their members. No vote needed. Hence why we both have JCBA's and progress.
That's why this association is a done deal, we might not like it, but when has it matter what the membership likes. Let's just hope the association comes up with a good contract.

No kidding...Where does the NMB come in to play regarding  LAA/LUS non-union employees? Which case(s), workgroup(s) are currently under the auspices of the NMB regarding the merger?
I am only aware that the TWU/IAM is under NMB review.

They would get accredited.

It happened with the planners, tech docs and others at PMUS around 1999.

Had them signing cards and the board ruled they are in the same class and craft as Mechanic and Related and then the NMB accredited them into the class and craft.

Are the MX Planners from the US Air side union?  If so, does the position require an A&P?  Planners on the LAA side are more like office clerks.

Yes the maintenance planners are under the IAM Mechanic and Related CBA.

No planners dont need and A&P they arent fixing planes.

I don't think the FAs or pilots took votes, I believe the union boards just decided which Union they would go with, but I wouldn't be surprised if the twu gets to decide for us.
I hope I'm just being cynical, and I would vote AMFA over no Union if given the option.
Big, this is the norm in such cases , the dominant Union on the property took control, as they already had the necessary "showing of interest".

The proper analogy in our case would be the IAM backing away and letting the TWU be the representative.

A simple yes or no would do.  NWA; for example, used to require their planners to be A&Ps.

"Fortunately, the administrative judge sided with the mechanic in dismissing Southwest’s claims and finding that the mechanic engaged in activities protected by AIR-21 and that Southwest was aware of it. Although no final decision was reached on the merits of the mechanic’s case, the setttlement followed close on the heels of the judge’s decision.

As a long time safety advocate, former NTSB Member and airline mechanic, reading about these types of cases is very dismaying.  It seems to me that any airline whose mechanics find cracks in an aircraft’s fuselage – significant enough to cause the aircraft to be removed from service for repair – should be commended.  Certainly not disciplined."

You know Goglia was a US Mechanic.

Met him many times, strong IAM union member and representative, he was a member of the NTSB first Airline Mechanic appointed to the board.
