Delta negotiating major SEA gate expansion

That's great DL has a small presence in SEA it looks like a big 13% increase

How big is the increase flying is doing in ATL next summer

looks like SEA-ATL is getting two extra flights. 5 to 7 daily. All 739s.... (sorry for anyone having to fly Y on ATL-SEA.)

Ptvs on the 739 provide decent distractions
haven't been on a 739 eh? Unless your 3ft tall the PTV doesn't mean anything. ATL-TPA the PTVs can distract. The 5 hours to SEA.....I think id rather take a CR2.

I'm surprised there's only 5 right now...
make it a big pain for all the non-rev traffic flowing that way. Really, really, really needs a wide body or two on the route. At least most of the other hubs out of ATL has WBs or a ton of frequency.

No kidding! I'd think the cargo volume(s) might influence that as well?

DL isn't adding any flights to make life easy for non-revs.

SEA and the PNW are highly seasonal markets which is why capacity drops a lot during the winter.

DL has rotated 767s thru SEA between ATL and Asia but since the 332 is the primary SEA int'l aircraft, it doesn't make any sense to rotate them thru ATL.

if is highly likely there will be widebodies from SEA to ATL next summer again.

For get sea atl flights

How much is DL growing the ATL hub
double check the press release but I believe DL said SEA is growing from 97 to 120 flights/day. feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

based on schedules already loaded - and the latest new flights are not - DL is already growing SEA by 13-14% next summer. The only city as large or larger than SEA that are growing as much as SEA is LAX

not non-revs but company travel and the typical hub to hub traffic.

and for the most part the 767s on ATL-SEA have been domestic. JFK has been the rotation point for ERs.

now that the 330s are getting checks done in MSP maybe SEA-MSP on a 330 will show up.

I would too. Get big bulky stuff from Asia to Atlanta to Europe.

DL doesn't create schedules for employee travel either.

DL has indeed flown 767-300ERs on ATL-SEA.

as for cargo, remember DL does still have a hub in Tokyo and a flight from ATL to there.

cargo doesn't care if it changes planes in Tokyo or Seattle.

DL also serves many of the same points in Asia via DTW which does see widebody aircraft at times.

and DL has upgraded 757 flights to widebodies for cargo, not just on domestic but even on int'l flights.

Wonder how long it will be before DL shuts SLC - no need for two northwest US hubs just like no need for AA to have two hubs in the Southeast or the PHX and LAX hubs

SLC isn't a Pacific NW hub. SEA and SLC will serve different roles.

DL wouldn't be starting construction on a major rebuild of the terminal if DL weren't willing to commit to a long-term lease.

SLC should ask the DFW airport board how DL deals with long term leases of 20+ gates...

SLC's a hub of geographic convenience more than economics. Just look at the makeup of the operation -- mostly small jets to small places. Reminds me of what MEM became before it wasn't a hub.
