DL just happens to have provided the best competition that AS has had in a real long time, if ever.

I think they will make it, though.

however, DL is sparing nothing in going for AS' biggest markets.
 
Yes - they should shut down - you said it - no other airline could ever give anyone serious competition except DL
 
jcw   what do you think of this..   DL buys UA AA(plus US)  as well as B6 and AS and WN  and WT will be the new CEO of the new airline called DL   then he be able to control the airline and that way it solves the problems of no other airline can do no right yet DL can do no wrong

no, robbed, that is the way AA and WN have operated... buy out their competition - or get bought by their competition to be more precise.

DL and UA actually created end on end mergers that increased the network.

WN dismantled most of FL's network (by the way FL is now history) while Parker made AA his #1 target for undercutting pricing strategies - the same strategy he has used since his days at HP - and then justified the merger based on the revenue benefits from eliminating that strategy.

the long-term fundamentals of the AA/US merger are nowhere near what DL or UA gained from their mergers... Wall Street has even noted that AA will spend more on merger integration cost than AA will get in revenue benefits.

US contributed little to the US airline industry and Parker was simply looking for a means to make money - and in the process has cheapened AA's product and culture considerably.

and specific to the west coast, AA is and will be in a far weaker position than DL or UA or WN.


the strategic gains from the AA/US merger are simply not anywhere near what was necessary for AA to become a true competitor to DL or UA which was exactly what Parker armtwisted AA into saying.

That would not work - that would prevent him from being on here trashing every move every other airline makes and depriving him of boasting about how DL wins at everything

no, DL doesn't win at everything.

however, from a strategic and revenue standpoint, DL has done a far better job of succeeding than its peers have.

btw, I erred in saying that FL is now history - IIRC they have another month.
