the East & West, but how to get there? Stating the obvious, we are as different as how we got here in the first place.
Many of the west people came from another state and or region of the country. They are people that pulled up and moved, left family and ties that in of itself sets them apart from most in the east. The majority in the east still live in the same area that their fathers and their grandfathers did. Many in the west had other jobs and carries and ended up at the airline only as a result of moving out west. Many in the east have worked here since high school this is their only work experience. Many in the west see change as opportunity; many in the east see it as something to be feared. I am not saying any of these are not real or legitimate feelings but they shape who we are and why we look at things so differently.

<SNIP> The majority in the east still live in the same area that their fathers and their grandfathers did.
Speaking for FAs, the east tended to hire people that did NOT live anywhere near a base, as to have people that would be acceptable to change.

In my new hire class of over 100, I was one of two people that lived within an hour of PIT.

On the run? Shunned from your communities?

sky high states: 1/3 of my class were locals. 10 out of 30.

This merger and it's different cultures are no different then the merger between US and PI and PSA. East, West......North, South. Each company instills abit of pride into it's employees and change through a merger challenges that belief.

only stating opinions

In my class of 25, exactly one was from Pittsburgh. Half had college degrees and everyone had prior work experience. NO ONE ended up working for USAir as a result of moving to Pittsburgh. It was a proud, and deliberate choice.

Perception is everything and nothing at the same time my dear friend EMBFA...What you percept as stupid might come off as intelligent to PB or babbling to the ma n pa kettles as Cletus goes off to college...they feel vulnerable in the middle of the east and west debacle.

Your theory is flawed. Generalized statements like these are shortsighted and closed minded. Get to know some people in the east and you will be suprised by how far off your statement really is.

Piney-

The old US Airways is gone and griping about it with a vindictive nostalgia won't bring it back. It was incapable of supporting itself as it was and was transformed into an airline that may just be able to squeak by a profit in tough times rather than resorting to bankruptcy again. If you like the support you get from your chosen side then great, commiserate all you like. I get the feeling that a vacation for you would be sitting around a PHL breakroom griping about every injustice under the sun. I'm willing to bet you could get hired at US, but then you wouldn't be able to log off when you've had your fill of negativity. But consider for a moment a different tack.

Who benefits by ignoring whatever good has come from US Airway's transformation? Do your supporters feel better ignoring the profit sharing, the new airplane orders, the new destinations, the consecutive quarterly profits, the influx of much needed money to try and rehab PHL, the fact that they didn't have to go looking for new jobs? Does tomarrow's holiday mean anything?

Don't try to oversimplify my position as a pollyanna. Just admit that a few more ATTABOYS/GIRLS would be welcome, as would an occasional focus on the few positives, and have the courage to be wrongly called a Kool-Aid drinker once in a while.

As David Bowie so eloquently sang, "Those children that you spit on as they try to change their world. Are immune to your consultation, they're quite aware of what they're going through."

Many of the extraterrestrials that live among us long for the fertile, fungus-covered planets that lie within reach of the Rigil Kentaurus triple star system. Others wish to repair their hyperdrive and return to the volcanic paradise that is Sigma Draconis IV. Still others consider Earth to be a superior world to the barren vacuum world of......(blah, blah, blah)

I'm sorry. What was the point you were trying to make?

Speaking of flu shots...I want to know why none of the times set up for them didn't include weekends so the reserves could get shots?
<_<

I still don't believe many in the Sandcastle really believe this airline operates 24/7 365 days/yr. Just reading on the Hub the different departments which will be closed the 23rd and 24th due to the Thanksgiving Holiday? I did not think the day after Thanksgiving was considered a Holiday anymore for the majority of us?

Yep, the morale is at an all time high!!!!
