August/September 2013 Fleet Discussion

It starts in the trenches, right out on the gate where those a/c are parked. Screw the arm bands and the rah-rah crowd, the breakroom warriors. If this fleet group does not start a nationwide safety campaign with all fleet cities participating then there will be no hope for a decent and fair contract. It all has to start with US.
It's time for many to grow a spine! Put up or shut up so to speak! You want improvements? We better be willing to stand together and fight. This is our fight. No one is going to fight it for us. LOCK AND LOAD Brothers and Sisters!

I think this is normally what the NMB does before granting a release. The process has been triggered so it's only a matter of time before granting a release [not anytime soon but definitely far far along than where United is]. The last release the NMB granted was to the pilot group at Spirit I believe two years ago.
And so we move forward one move in the chess game. They're on the clock and it is now ticking.

why would any fleet service wear a company armband supporting a merger over a contract? Management just doesn't listen, so why bother?
Armbands, headbands who will wear what? Are you kidding me? Why would any fleet service believe this issue will make any difference in their future? Armbands, headbands, badges; We don't need no badges! What we need is solidarity and a willingness to fight. The flying public could give a rat's arse about our battle. As a matter of fact... I believe the flying public would view fleet as over compensated for the work done. I believe they would support the company's efforts to reduce costs, by holding wages down and sub contracting, if it translated into lower fares for them. Those who believe the traveling public will weigh in on our side are being very naive. This fight is no one else's but ours Brothers and Sisters! Safety First! Work accordingly! LOCK AND LOAD! WE NEED A CONTRACT!

You need to write up all the issues with the aircraft and do it by the book when the delays and the planes don't fly you get attention that's how you show who is running the place at brown we do it write shove it up there rear

Wicked. Thanks.

Then explain what you meant in this post:

The post you quoted from me is pretty self explanatory. It should be pretty easy for anyone with a grasp of the English language to see that I didn'ty mention anything about a multitude of "no" votes directly replacing people that would likely vote "yes."

I was a few years ago but I think she knew I was already familiar with RR and DL's staffing model. Btw it was one of the Japanese speaking red coats...

Great. Did she tell you that Red Coats are not managers?

No need to post the Visene image but has DL recently done any cuts to target PM-NW facilities/employees since the SEA and SUX reservations centers? I can't imagine DL would close SLC in favor of other NWA centers.

No wholesale closures other than ANC Airfreight. The death by 1000 cuts continues apace...

Ididn't say there were no employees there, I said there were very few.

There are currently just under 500 people on the ramp/gates alone. That doesn't count airfreight, the tower, Skyclub, maintenance, the F/A base, or mgmt./admin. employees.

That's your definition of "very few?"

And of course you will say the organizers won't write anyone off and I'm sure you would be correct

They won't... Focusing on one station at the expense of the rest of the system is a suicide move, IMO.

The CLT and PHL hubs have to be the starting point. After the hubs start working safe then the focus cities should fall in line and then eventually the small stations will catch on. For those of you who are unsure, get a copy of the company safety manual, it's all posted. You have even taken I-learning test on these issues, such as the speed limit on the ramp, driving in driving lanes, pushback procedures and so on. If anyone in management ask you to break the rules, notify the faa. Turn their policies back on them. The only way AH is gone to bargain fair is if the dot stats don't make Parker happy and then the process will begin to play out. it all runs down hill and AH is at the bottom of Parkers hill. They were very giving to the AA fleet, pull up th MOU'S and read them, it's almost like they want the AA guy's on board and not their own people. Now is the time folks, we can't wait for the district to make the call, we have to act. What would Vince Hickman do?

My apologies. While you didn't mention they were replaced by RR's you did agree the demographics at DL have changed since the vote in 2010. Do you still believe the early retirements and other changes will make it more difficult to get ramp organized at the widget?

Great. Did she tell you that Red Coats are not managers?

Nope but she was indeed a manager at DTW.

Sure recent elections for unions have been very close so yes every vote counts but my point is with the cutbacks there they lost a mass of union savvy ex-IAM NWA employees who are likely more easily organized than their counterparts in ATL or new RRs hired throughout the system since. However many people are there the simple fact is it is considerably fewer than even three years ago, let alone at the time of the merger.

Hickman would tell us to 'fight your own battles'. "Don't look for anyone else to do it for you." "Grow a set!" "You want improvements? You gotta be willing to stand your ground and fight!" "Nobody is going to hand it to you." All we have to do is play by their policies. No more shortcuts for the sake of the company's performance numbers. This is the same strategy used 30 years ago. It worked then... and will now.

Most of us have this guy (737823) blocked... we do not see his comments unless someone quotes him. I ask everyone to block him, and not to quote him. These actions will make him disappear... literally!

My apologies roa... This is my feelings about posting on this thread, if you have not walked in a Fleet Agents shoes, STFU... I don't think I have posted on this thread more than 5x, because I haven't earned the right to.. But I know what a Fleet Service Agent goes through financially and physically, I lived through the 25% pay cut and seeing my better half come home bruised and battered, having to go through multiple surgeries.. So when some nimrod that I really believe is some management a-hole posting on this thread it pisses me off... Good luck folks and work safe..
