Aren't two of the three NMB members that vote on these things the ones that got their appointments shot down? I don't think the NMB can vote on any release until that issue is resolved.

No, that was the NLRB, which is the National Labor Relations Board, they administer the NLRA, not the RLA, which would be the NMB.

And the right wing finally allowed the NLRB appointments to go through.

They aren't releasing anyone, the economy is still in the crapper. Our negotiations dragged on for 3+ years before they filed for bankruptcy. We took the strike vote, the catchy slogans, the whole nine yards. The NMB isn't going to allow 10,000 airline employees to become unemployed by choice at this point, not in this economy.

The pilot group of maybe 500 at Spirit isn't a valid comparison.

I agree, they are never going to grant a release for fleet or mx. It's not going to happen

They will schedule them for one more week of talks and if they dont get anywhere an impasse should be declared, for M&R they wont usually release two groups at one airline at the same time.

You should see some work safe starting for M&R and Fleet very shortly.

I know m & r will do it but unless something has changed (and I'd love to be wrong) but I just don't see Fleet doing it.

Harry,

Back in 99 Fleet supported M&R 110% in CLT, the same was done in 2003 with the Airbus outsourcing.

Fleet came out and stepped up during the ibt raid, and was on the front lines helping the IAM remain the bargaining agent.

The company is having fits because of the solidarity gatherings in the middle of B and C-Con.

The seeds are being planted and cultivated to prepare M&R and Fleet for what is going to be needed in order to obtain new CBAs.

Time to eat metal.

Geez can we save the self doubts speech until AFTER our union reps have meant with the company ?

They arent meeting with the company, they are meeting with the NMB.

Do you think the company is going to change their position?

You really need an education, call MC at your local, you are truly pro-management.

Machinists to NMB: Contracts Now!

September 10, 2013

The National Mediation Board (NMB) today held a “status conference” with IAM Districts 141 and 142 regarding the ongoing US Airways Mechanic and Related and Fleet Service contract negotiations. The NMB will meet with the company tomorrow.

Amid the continuing uncertainty surrounding the American-US Airways merger, the purpose of the conference was to discuss outstanding issues and both parties’ positions on these issues.

“During this entire process we have been crystal clear with US Airways that our contracts come before merger distractions,” said IAM District 141 President Rich Delaney. “But all we have seen from US Airways is delay and diversion. IAM members at US Airways are unified and prepared to take this dispute public and will be fully supported by the substantial resources of the Machinist’s Union to achieve the agreements they deserve.”

“All IAM members at US Airways stand in solidarity with the same goal; contracts now!" said IAM District 142 President Tom Higginbotham. “US Airways needs to stop babbling about this merger circus and do what’s right by IAM members at US Airways.”

IAM-represented Mechanic and Related, Maintenance Training Specialist and Fleet Service workers have been in negotiations for well over two years with US Airways. The IAM has requested a release to strike from the NMB for the Mechanic and Related and Fleet Service groups earlier this year.

The IAM represents approximately 14,000 workers at US Airways and is the largest union at the carrier.

oh well if we're not meeting with the company then I take it back , let's all share our self doubts ...

I have to agree with what JFK posted before about the NMB not releasing anyone due to the bad economy ...
